but sure you know how easy it is to have you hands tied in the public sector due to decisions being made by senior management...i think you are all very naive, it isn't going to be any different once your in.

At the end of it all your going to have pensionable job for life...i just think you are being very childish. sure if it was private sector sure alot of big companies dont even bother responding.

their only mistake was giving you a date that would get back to you by and i assume this date was made known before the recruitment and pay freeze announcement.

hi Smartypants I understand where your coming from re the finger wagging.

I would say that it is quite an important issue for ourselves, given the dearth of jobs recently, and getting frustrated after waiting more than a month since the interview is not impatience, when so much depends upon the outcome.

we were told the second week of july, then the week after, then the week after. I remain hopeful but not confident that we will get a response by the end of the week, but I think it's perfectly natural to get annoyed when things have been stalled for so long....

incidently, the date may well have been given before the infamous-pay freeze, but it was no secret that cutbacks were in the pipeline, and if anyone would of known the state of the economy/public finances etc. the Central Bank would have...

sure its the public sector ...is the delay any surprise? :D

There are numerous threads detailing the pros and cons of working in/dealing with the public sector so I won't get into it here.

It is reasonable to expect some notification of a job interview, public or other wise 5 or 6 weeks aftr the interview, and 3 weeks after the scheduled date.

It is not quite so reasonable to wish that nobody gets the jobs because we're all supposedly so impatient ;)

I definately agree with catenthusiast. Its Thursday now and still no word. I had my interview on 13th June(6 weeks ago tomorrow) so I think its reasonable to expect an answer telling me if I was successful or unsuccessful at interview stage. It didn't take them this long to let us know about the other stages in this long process. I really think its unfair, especially if I was unsuccessful and having to wait this long to be told that!

I've never seen a bigger bunch of moaners in my life, get over it theres a delay in your results. There were loads of people to interview and judging by your posts loads of idiots and babies to weed out of the competition

So how's that career in male modelling (see old post) coming along for you? Or are you trying to carve out a career in being a wind-up-merchant on this forum (WUM)? "Idiots and babies".........thanks for the constructive criticism

Jeez its like your on a first date or something. Ye have no patience. I've often had to wait months to find out about the next job. I think the longest was 9 months to be called to interview and 3 months to find out I'd got it. I then put off the start date a month or so as I was in the middle of a contract.

Maybe its a test to see who is desperate and will ring and who won't.

Allegedly emails this afternoon with an update and letters next week, the girl I was talking to today seemed to have a bit more of a clue than the bloke last week.

Thanks Tan Princess, at least that's some progress!

I don't really know. There is supposed to be further stages, medical etc so maybe they might write fist, I'm not sure. I was thinking anyways in all this delay I'm sure they knew who had gotten the job and who hadn't a while ago. I was told in my interview that they were considering everyone for the Bank Officer position as well, I know they had a competition at the same time as the Bank Executive one. I dunno, maybe that was just me :o. Sure hopefully we'll know by latest Wednesday, I'll prefer that to waiting.

well, at least they kept their word and sent letters yesterday.

got mine this morning saying i got through interview stage and progress to medical and reference check. (good news)
but then they said successful applicants will then be placed on panel for immediate vacancies and then any positions that arise up unil dec 2009! so slightly bad news in that i don't know when i'll be starting, if at all!

I didn't get it I'm so upset. Do you have experience of banking charmed? I'm really surprised I wasn't successful.

well, i worked in financial services for over a year and a half so i'd say that's what swung it for me.
hard luck tan princess, i'm sure something else will come up for you.

Letters can take a few days to arrive- particularly in the Dublin area- don't worry just yet. You will get a letter telling you how you did at interview- irrespective of whether you got it or not- so just hang on in there.

Re: panels- thats entirely normal. They will recruit from the panel as they get sanction to replace staff.

Oh no, I got the letter but it was a pfo. I rang for feedback and they claimed someone would call me in a few days.

oh yeah, i knew there would be a panel, i just presumed that they'd tell me whereabouts on it i was or if i was one of those people who was an immediate start (think there's about 20 starting immediately)

I'm also sorry to hear that you didn't get it Tan Princess, hopefully there'll be a silver lining and you'll get something else soon:)

From what they said to me in the interview there would be 25 immediate places, so who knows how many they'll have on the panel. Fingers crossed we'll get some more clarity after the medical and references stage......

Congrats to those who got it-didn't make the cut myself, so the hunt continues....

    Hi,
I got through the interview stage and went for a medical a couple of weeks ago, the bank said that a letter confirming that you are on the panel would be posted out after ref check and medical, has anyone received a letter yet? Thanks.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15 Talula

I'm in the same boat. Completed medical and references have been checked. I haven't received letter yet.

    Hi there,

just wondering if anyone has an update status on this before I go ringing and asking them??

Quoting FR today on RTE website
"He said the regulator would immediately recruit an extra 20 supervisory staff with banking experience, who would be placed with key banks to monitor developments."

Please let it be me! Anyone get a call/letter/e-mail from them? I presume they will be using the Exec panel.......

Ring the Public Appointment Service and ask- you can't automatically assume that it is the Exec panel.
