    tbh i feel like there's a lot of resentment for these guys cos they're a bunch of nordie boys that, atm, are on top of the dublin pop punk scene.
    ...aaannd their label, but that's more DIY peeps so let's not get into it.

    you may not like them but those guys work extremely hard at what they do and deserve a bit of credit. they have a drive to make it, and regardless of if they have a young, or "emo" fanbase, they worked hard for their fans and just because you're 15 doesn't mean you can't respect music properly.
    mark is a LEGEND drummer. has anyone listened to the song "no, you hang up"?and i think simon is really talented too,he can play SO well.
    i really love the guys music and it annoys me because a lot of the stick they get seems to be less about their music and more about them.
    whatever about not liking a band,i'm sure i probably hate some of your favourite bands,but why start a thread saying how much you hate them?:S
    but like fair dues,you're one of the few forums that have kept talking about the music and haven't called a pádraig an asshole yet >.<

    I dont think that there is any resentment coming from this forum because they are from Northern Ireland.

    I don't like thier music, but its more of a case of overkill for me tbh. My brothers are die hard fans, and I hear about them regularly. They talk to thier fans etc. I added them on MySpace last year and I see all the bulletins, I read about the lock in, and they are very smart lads. They are also quite hot. :P

    They are good at what they do, they are aimed at a particular age group, and that seems to be who thier fan base is.

    They are not my cuppan tae, but I respect em for what they do.

    no no,not on this forum. just in the local scene in general...

    the lock in was a deadly idea,didn't enjoy it too much near the end but it's cool to let your fans see how you write your songs, etc.

    they do have a young fanbase but it's not like they set out for that, it's just the supported a lot of bands with young fans...it's just they have a pop punk/ "emo" (hate that word but ppl describe them as that) sound and nice hair,of course they're gunna have young fans >.<
    but hey,they're going to gigs,spreading the word and buying their merch so i bet steer aren't complaining >.<

    WOW.. people on here are pretty sad.. :D

    First of all i bet NONE! of you are able to sell out gigs and write your own album.

    Your here taking the piss of steer clear when all they're doing is entertaining people that enjoy their music. But some sad people here have nothing better to do than laugh about that.

    Oh and they sing with an American accent? no... they dont. They sing normal.. and good.

    There's a lot of bands i dont like but i dont go around saying this and that about them. There is people that like them ... not everyone is going to like the same music so cop on. :)

    but tbh i just don't understand why people have to be so nasty about their opinions.
    I LOVE Steer Clear Alot, and i get alot of stcik for it, my brothers and friends saying "Steer Clear of Steer Queer" And i don't let it bother me at all, because why the f**k should i care what they think?
    Should i care what they have to say about a band i really love; NO i shouldn't and i don't. So i'm not gonna let this forum get to me either!
    Steer Clear are amazing guys and are VERY talented at what they do! if someone dosent like that then why can't they personally dislike it instead of starting a whole big thing because they opened their mouth?
    i don't undertsand it.

    The guys have worked REALLY hard for their fans and deserve every fan they get. They're really nice guys aswell, and personally i don't think pádraig's an asshole. He's one of the nicest people i've met in a while tbh.

    Anyways, i don't wanna start a whole big thing i just want people to see that what they say could hurt the band members if they saw and even fans.

    all i'm saying is PERSONALLY i love steer clear and i dont really think they should be badmouthed.

    like say your favourite band was Green Day and people were slagging them off alot, would you not stick up for them?
    in my head i think anyone would.

    Which is what i'm doing for Steer Clear.

    i think if you don't like a band you should keep it to yourself and if someone asks say "no i dont like them" and it causes no drama.

    i agreee arguements are pointless,

    i know all bands have their fans and haters... but what i dont like is starting a big thing like this over it!!! like you dont like a band... so what.. no need to tell the world.. and im not saying my fave band is better than anyone elses..

    and yes this thread is hassle... my point on here.. its stupid and there was no need for it.. some people will like steer clear some wont.. and p0ds not at all weird.. you cant just say that about someone you dont even know. You know him cause in in steer clear... but you dont know him in person or what hes like. he writes great songs ... thats what matters with the band.. the music... i know not everyone will agree he writes great songs... so keep it to yourself.. thats my point

    aye,i used to be like that. if anyone dissed steer of FOB around me i'd get really angry or whatevz but like you get used to it,esp cos my two favourite bands are those kinda bands that you either love or hate
    steer clear = marmite 8-)

    i have no idea,he could have been joking, but it was on this dublin music scene forum and they were all STEER CLEAR SUCK and calling them out on things that obvz weren't their fault so pod just came back with equally as irrelevant things >.<
    niamh,tbh,i know you're sticking up for pádraig but you don't know me personally so don't start anything with me.
    i jest with the guys,and tell pod i think he's weird all the time.he says things about me too....¬_¬ not jesting quite as much...

    not here to start anything, but in all seriousness, what is the point of this thread? it really says a lot about you if you have nothing better to do than sit and make a thread about how much you dislike a band.
    okay, you don't like steer clear, and i'm sure hundreds of other people don't either, but saying that, hundreds of other people love them.

    how can you listen to them, and say they don't have talent? serious kudos for them, at least they have the balls to go out every now and then and actually promote their band, it shows they have a drive. do you hate them just because they're out doing something with their lives and actually getting somewhere? tbh, they are getting really big and i know a lot of people that have gone off them because of that, but what does that show? jealousy to say the least. i'm sure they've been told umpteen times that "they're ****" and "their music is wack" but it shows how determined they are if they've kept going and all the **** people are giving them gives them more of a reason to keep going. look how much they've improved recently, hey? not to say "my band is better than yours" or anything, but i know a alot of belfast bands who want to get somewhere and do sweet nothing. look at steer clear, sure, the amount of promotion etc they do for themselves pays off in one way or another. their own uk tour and playing sxsw festival shows how much talent they do actually have.

    so what if they have an "emo" fanbase, and so what if most of their fans are 15 year old girls, at least they have fans, and a strong fanbase of that. just because you're 15 and female doesn't mean you can't respect music, tbh, it doesn't make a difference what age/sex you are.

    i just kinda type as i think so sorry if that's hard to understand... :)

    i just seriously think this is all just bull, because their haters make them bigger. smart asses they are. the more they post about hating a band so much is making steer clear's name wider known so obv people are gonna check them out, and later realise that they are actually pretty damn good.

    and yeah, i'm 15 too, and surprise surprise i'm female, so i obv don't know **** all about music and i really only like steer because i think pádraig has really fit hair. ffs, goodness help a 15 year old girl liking decent music these days.
