Highly paid people do they deserve it?

If you could somehow quantify effort I get the feeling that Cameron Diaz would come up distinctly lacking, though. Besides, the thread title is do they deserve the amount they get, which, well - see Charlie's Angels (kinda picking on this because it was the first thing that came up when I googled for highest paid actors for a single film but I think it applies over all films. I mean, its absolutely awesome that you can get paid that, but do you think any actor deserves such high wages for any film?

Yes because I feel that if you spent your life with the ambition of owning your own very successfull company you'd have a good chance if you were really dedicated enough. If you did the same thing trying to make it as a footballer you'd have nearly no chance.
I don't know if it's still the same with kids these days but when I was 8 pretty much every lad played football with few exceptions, as the years go by the rubbish thats sits on the bench gets weaned out and the scouts come in and bring you to a better club, and you'd need to stand out at that one and be scouted there too.
Crap explaination but my point is that so many play football from a young age, so many try but yet so few actually make it to the mega bucks level.
Think about how many kids play between Ireland and the UK and yet the Premiership buys most of their top players from abroad, being that talented is just so rare thats it's like being Mick O' Leary/Bill Gates/Larry Ellisson etc in the business world.
