We were still pretty much in the 80's until the mid-90's. Though only a snot-nosed nipper then (I'm still snot-nosed) I remember the joys of Dempsey's Den, when RTE 2 was Network 2 (which everybody still calls it!), homosexuals were illegal (Coming over here taking all our work *shakes fist*), divorce was illegal, Street Fighter II in the arcades, Where In The World game show would be on before Glenroe on a dreary Sunday...........oh, and the joys of a nappy and having your poor ma' clean yer arse.

Anyone remember the astronaut who is foiled by his helmet as he attempts to eat the 5-4-3-2-1 bar?
    A pre-Young Ones Rik Mayall

Oh and BTW, kids if you remember Live at Three in the 80s then you weren't really there.
Try "Going Strong" on for size; Sonny Knowles doing his window-cleaner wave while crooning at an audience of aromatically-urine-stained pensioners.

    ...good times, man, good times...

Bring back the punt, so I can head to the local newsagents, and come out with about pounds of sugar.

The return of the Hiace van as well?

Will everyone's estate now see the return of that Del trotter type bloke, who can get his hands on anything?

People to start renting t.v's again.

Ra-ra skirts over leggings, white socks, nylon as a major fashion statement! Miffy books, Twinkle, Bunty, and spending saturdays in the library because books were something pocket money had to be saved for. Sylvanian Families and Top of the Pops on RTE with only two channels. Tapes, taping songs off the radio, Atlantic 252 not being a sports channel, big-hair-pop/rock. Pound shops being an acceptable place to buy christmas presents. Oh how I miss those lazy, hazy days of my early childhood. I wasn't born until half way through the decade and was so lucky that the 80s lasted until the mid-90s in Ireland.

Soda Stream, Tayto crisps. Palestinian scarves.

On the up side it might bring a bit of reality back to the Irish, on the down side anyone that owns loads of property is possibly fuked, but they were greedy anyway.
There's a chick in my local supermarket who wears one (She's Irish).

As for the DJ Kat show; fúck all you people who were able to afford Cablelink in the 80's.

I had to put up with forty coats and his fifty pockets.

I used to piggyback the neighbours cable with some rabbit ears (tv aerial). That's how I was able to watch that sshhh!

This video basically encapsulates 80s style. You could never get away with most of that now. ;) Hot bird alert a 2:22.

I'm always nostalgic for the 80s. It may be just a function of it being the formative part of my adolescence and early teens. Happy times. I was fitter and all (well most ;) ) of the girls seemed to like me. Then the 90s came and blech! I wouldn't mind seeing some of the women's fashions come back . I like the hairspray/big hair thing (on the ladies). But you'll never get me to dress 80s again. Today's Metros and Emos would be considered virile vigourous males by comparison.

First thing tomorrow morning I'm gonna buy me a "NAFF" jacket. Dacent!
