I wonder if anyone reads these threads, or just throws thier own cars up??!

    Anyway...

198x Austin Montego. 1st car and I loved it, £500 and I could park it anywhere in London with no worries. Sold for a:

1996 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 3 dr. City car that did what it said on the tin. Sold for a:

1999 Renault Megance Coupe, 1.6 Sport. Loved that car, not massivly powerful but good on teh twistys, comfy, cheap to run. While I had it I bought:

1996 Volvo 850. More of a tank than a car! Heavy but so solid, regret getting rid of it, still see it round town, still going strong. Traded both of those to buy:

2000 Renault Espace. God I hated it. Wife's choice and only allowed on the basis that I also bought a:

1967 Mercedes 250S (W108). First classic, looked the biz and broadly reliable. After the wife damaged teh door it went and I bought a:

1974 Porsche 911 2.7. That car is probably even better than it's reputation suggests, don't listen to the people who knock them, try it, you'll like it. But it rusted so I put it up for sale...

2002 BMW 520i Another cracker. See a theme? Big or powerful (or big and powerful) and I like it! Finally got rid of the Espace to buy her.

1964 Jaguar MK II 3.4 - the 911 sold within a week and another lifetimes dream arrived in the form of the MK II. Not as good as I had hoped though, disapointing drive and went up for sale - but in between times the BMW went to buy

    2005 BMW X3 - 2.0d. Uggggh The wifes car

1967 Lotus Elan+2 After the Jag went it was back to teh sports cars. And the Elan is probably the best car dynamicaly I've ever owned.

03 Almera - 1.5 4dr 18k miles. Love this car. Easy to drive, nice simple interior.

96 Micra - Great yoke. Drove it at 95mph down a forest track, flat out, on road tyres and no sump guard - what fun!. Got it with 10k miles on the clock, sold it with 160k. Nothing broke!

00 Micra - Ate Shocks - was boring and not as reliable as the 96 micra, gave it to my sister.

88 Citroen AX GT - Called the heap at home. Used for night navs, learning to balance the lift off oversteer with left foot braking! Still going despite driving it to death. It got it's revenge by bursting a water hose in Mahon Point Shopping Centre!

05 Almera - Wrote it off after 6 weeks. Some b****x came around a corner in the middle of the road. I swerved, missed him and hit the ditch. It rolled up the road. Airbags hurt!

05 Almera - Replaced the one above. Rear suspension a bit too hard (it skips on bumpy corners when pushed hard, meaning left foot braking needed to steady the car). Rapid tyre wear (only got 15,000 km from the front tyres)

94-Pug 106 1.1 XR-Great little car, brillant handling, I seen one advertised the other day for E500 and was so tempted.

00-Fiat Punto Sporting-Another brillant little hatch, never gave me any trouble.
99-BMW 316Ci-The car I wanted for a long time. Great to look at and a good drive but never buy the 1.6 as someone once said its slower then George Bush.
00-Golf 1.9Tdi 110bhp-Never going to be the best drivers car but it never did me wrong. Very reliable with a great engine.
01-Subaru Impreza 2.0GX Non turbo-I love this car. Great value, even after paying the ridiculas VRT.
04-Volvo S40 1.8-A lovely car but so many problems. It will be going soon.
    Maybe for a VRS.:D

Mini Metro Not sure what year this car was, but I would guess around '86. Fond memories of it, but it was a squeeky rustbucket with broken seats and a tendency to not start on cold mornings!
1991 Honda Civic 1343cc Import Great little car this. Revvy and nippy for the engine size. Sadly some scum joyriders brought her to an end..
1995 Honda Civic Coupe 1.5LSi Very comfortable, very reliable, and had the trademark rev happy honda engine. Think she kicked in at about 5k revs. Sold this to make way for ...
1992 Honda CRX Del Sol SiR My first Vtec experience. Good fun, the electric roof looked great! Previous owner lowered it to a daft height though, and it was too uncomfortable. Sold it and bought..
1996 Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec My favourite so far. Very quick, very comfortable, lots of toys as standard, and it just passed it's NCT without my doing anything to it since importing it from the UK.

... What do I go for next.. S2000? Mmmm..

Just out of curiosity, were all them cars in order of when you owned them. If so there are some major jumps in the type of car.

    Eg.. Merc 280CE > Cinquecento
    BMW 320CI Cabrio > Fiesta

    1) 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham Coupe. 5L V8. That's a lie actually, first ever vehicle to be fitted with a V6 and futureproofed with a couple of redundant cylinders for show. 5L and 170hp, when it was new!
    (Canada)

    2) 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI (Golf Mk1 GTI). Still the most fun I've ever had on 4 wheels. Needed a 6th gear so bad, though, and would spin the fan belt smooth every three months no matter what you did. I'd buy one tomorrow if I could. I kept it til I moved to Ireland.
    (Canada)

    3) 1980 Chevy Malibu "Saddam Special". A basic car modified by GM to be sold in Iran & Iraq. Then politics entered and GM couldn't sell over there, so they sold them in Canada and the States. Raised ride height, 3.8L V6 (110hp!!!), 3spd manual, skidplates, no options or frivolous luxuries AT ALL! Brilliant craic!
    (Canada)

    4) 1994 Toyota Corolla XLi. 1.3L. 5 doors. um.....

    5) 1997 Honda Civic 1.6 LS. After the Corolla, this is a €70k super saloon. Seriously, why are so many Toyotas sold in this country when Honda offers basically the same thing (ultra reliable) but manages to execute it so much better? Have now added Honda to list of cars it's ok for me to have.

    6) 1994 BMW 520i. The smoooothest ride ever coupled to the non sporty (I know, I know) suspension and leather and a small straight six (that engine is tight as a drum too, with 185k miles) make this the surprise of the decade for me. For €600 too. And it's pig ugly on steelies to boot so I'll never be mistaken for a boy racer mod'd bmw!

    I love these lists.

Driving since Dec '92 (Day of my 17th B'day), Full license since Mar '94, own car since Apr '97.

Apr '97 to Oct '99; 94k to 130k; Paid Ł3,000 (to my father!), sold for Ł900. Had just gotten new engine (1.9 non-turbo diesel).

1989 Peugeot 405GLD Estate (Red); clutch went, and the mechanic broke the radiator when fixing the clutch! Eventually the electrics (lights, mainly) went belly up. Ended up with a row of spotlights on a switch because the full beams had had it!

Oct '99 to Apr '02; 96k to 135k; Paid Ł5,000 (with 12 month warranty), traded in for €2,000. 1.5 petrol.

1995 Honda Civic Coupe (Black). There were only about 6 around at the time, and they were all different colours. Got it tinted and put 17's on it; no bodykit. Left the alloys into a local tyre centre for tyres, and they "left them outside and someone robbed them". Never got any compensation, and I no longer use their tyre centre or their motor factors on the Tuam Road in Galway. Stuck a set of cheap 15's on it (still had the standard steel 13's for it in my shed until last year). Would love to get it back.

Apr '02 to Oct '04; 92k to 130k; Paid €2,000 + €2,500 trade in (ripped off, and 3 month warranty from current Galway dealer wasn't worth the paper it was written on), sold for €1,200. 2.0 petrol.

1995 Honda Accord Coupe (Green). Nice car, intorduced me to cruise control. No alloys, bodykit, or anything else done to it (aside from reversing it into a pole and almost turning it into an accordian!!!). Quick, but not an especially exciting car. Sold to an Eastern European.

Oct '04 to Mar' '05; 60k to 67k; Paid €0 (was my mothers, and she was getting nothing for it on trade in, and I had sold my Accord), sold for €0 (gave it to a family member who was in need of a decent car). 1.6 petrol.

2000 Fiat Marea Weekend SX. This was my mothers second one of these, and were actually a really good car. Had a split rear door which, if you were carrying something long, you could leave the bottom half open and close the top half. Also had a removeable towbar. The only problem was leg positioning on a long run (I'm 6'5"); your right leg tended to get numb!!! Only a problem for people over 6'3", though! Very underrated car, and still going strong in the family. If you need something cheap with good space that won't let you down, you'll get a fairly fresh one of these for small money. (My mother only changed it as she bought a 1998 BMW 520i (in red), which was the car that inspired both myself and Digweed to buy ours.

Mar '05 to Present; 69k to ?; paid €12,000 (God knows how much more spent on it!!!), not sold. 2.0 petrol.
