i think you'll find that most gyms dont allow people to wear jeans while training:D

I often wear jeans in the gym, Its what I'm most comfortable in and don't see whats wrong with it. Maybe if people concentrated harder on what they were doing the issue of what someone is wearing across the room wouldn't bother them as much.

honestly dont know how the hell you wear jeans id be sweating like a
mo fo, do you wear them to do legs (squat etc)?

    Gym-Hates:
    1. Pre-Debbers:
Girls (face full of makeup - foundation, blusher, mascara the works), usually in packs of 3 - all on same machines at the same time - so will wait on 3 bikes/cross trainers/ treadmills, beside eachother. Normally appear the week before the debs to tone up with a 30 minute session. Spend the time chatting and checking out the lads...possibly hoping to pick one up for the debs. They also have all the new gear. And thats it you never ever see them again.
Funniest pre-debs situation I saw was 2 girls came in - a regular and her friend - regular does her usual workout, friend spends 40 mins walking on the threadmill...regular comes back to her friend and messing increases the pace slightly...friend has a hypo and screams at the regular "My mascara will run!"...all the lads behind her burst their sides laughing!
    2. Middle-aged men who never wash their gym gear:
One in particular in my gym...wears the same clothes every night....when he goes to use a machine you can see his neighbours last for about 1-2 minutes then go and use another machine...the smell is enough to make you gag...its not sweat...its weeks/months/years of sweat!!

No Gym that Ive ever been ever had a problem with it. Why on earth should they like? I work hard in the gym, don't hog machines, I'm courteous to other people and make sure to put weights back and people like you still look at me like I'm killing puppys while I'm in the gym because I wear jeans.

Would usually wear a pair of trackies for squating, though ive definitely squated in jeans at one stage or another over the years.

I wear them to stop getting callusses and dont see how thats useless plus i can get better grip on the weights also then i dont get dirt on my hands from you after your set.

    21. those bullsh*t programs ''fitness instructors'' give out to people when they join the gym
Would you rather if all beginners just got on threadmills and never tried anything else because they where worried about doing things wrong!
or got on weights and just did them wrong.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

if you have ever seen some these programs they are obviously given out by people with either minimal or no qualifications. and another thing if a fitness instructor is not in shape themsleves they are in no postion to give training advice to beginners. would you take maths lessons from a teacher who couldnt do math?

    :D

I think you need to take a long hard look at yourself if what someone across the gym is wearing is actually bothering you.

    Big red faces....?

I think one of them is called Des.... (Might only be the Dublin lads who get that... looks like he's carrying a roll of carpet under each arm*)

*Ok so that was blatantly stolen off someone with whom I was talking the other day but I still think it's frickin hilarious and well worth using again.

After reading PCB's posts on this thread I'd be afraid of going to a gym that he's in for fear of envoking his wrath due to not wearing the right thing, not walking the right way, breathing incorrectly or just generally being anywhere within his range of vision.

He's probably gonna be the REALLY jacked dude, or the REALLY skinny dude. Just make sure you avoid those guys and you'll be ok.

Ah yes..they all suffer Imaginary Lat Syndrome. One bloke has this horrible,long-ish hair and he immediatly takes the phone out when he comes in.He then talks for an hour while checking himself out in the mirror and then goes home after two sets of barbel curls.there's another bloke with a fat head and a step who's always screeching, you can hear him all over the place. If memory serves friday nights is the worst time for them.

People in disgustingly smelly gear. their is one guy in Pinnacle who is without doubt the most disgusting smelling human being i have ever come across. i dont think he ever washes his gear

I was training in Pinnacle the other day and when I was drying myself after having a shower this guy came in and the smell of his bag when he opened it was unhuman. Seriously expecting a rotten hand to fall out of it. I nearly passed out with the smell.

One other funny thing happened in there the other day. I was sitting on a bench doing some exercises and there was a guy about 5 feet from me doing some bicep curls.. he seemed to be struggling with the weight but instead of the normal grunting or such noises you would make when you are trying to get those last few reps in he was making a "Im about to c*m" noise (well thats what it sounded like to me). I couldnt concentrate on my exercise cos I was trying not to p*ss myself laughing.

still there. train there about 4 days per week. days vary depending on work and other training

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 358 ✭✭Wood

Cool, i'm there myself at least 5 days a week, 6 if i can.

Pretty much exactly the same stats as myself, but you've got about 10kg on me on the bench and squat and i've about 20 on you on the dead.

There's a lad called Davey who trains there who's putting up some serious numbers, he's 73kg and pulls 260kg. Fairly impressive. Nice bloke as well.

I wear them when running anything over 5 miles. If you have to ask why then you're not a runner
    Don't worry..someday you'll find out why :)
