    Dude, I said anytime I get cut off it always seems to bwe by a foreigner, be it african, polish...what ever, so I'm racist against the world then am I

    For what it's worth I agree with most everything else you've said, going by my own personal experiences of African women on the roads around my part of the country....dented '99 micras with mirrors pointing the wrong way, an upside down, back to front L plate with the white bit trimmed off and a Jesus fish on the back bumper are generally to be avoided like the plague if you happen to be in a hurry or want to get to where you're going without marking your paintwork...

    Mate... I'm not trolling, it was something that pissed me off so I posted it here, alright

    last week I posted a thread about catching 2 guys robbing a car, and how I bet the living shiite outta them...no one came on calling me a scum bag did they, in fact I got 4 pages of replies telling me I was the worlds greatest,

    I don't think it is so much that they can't drive properly, but more that whatever country they come from the standard deemed accceptable to pass the driving test is probably considerably lower but because of the EU we probably have to accept all member states' motorists, even if they are virtually stock car racers.

    I see a lot of foreigners driving early 90's Audi Quattro cars for some reason.

    Here you don't need to pass a driving test at all to get on the road, so how can it be lower somewhere else? Thanks to this system you have plenty of drivers on the road who never had a driving lesson.

    In Poland you have to do a course - 20 hours of driving with an instructor, and 5 hours of theory, before you can even take the test. That's a minimum.
    And on average it takes 3 tries to pass the test. It's similar in other mainland countries as far as i know.

    So to be honest, I don't think foreign (at least European) drivers are worse - they have more training than average Irish driver, and are driving more confidently, which to untrained eye may look like agressive and reckless driving.

    I'm going to take the controvertial sexist line on this and say that there are so many poor women drivers on the road its unreal; especially when they begin to age, their awareness goes out the window.

    I don't know how may times recently in car parks that women have nearly reversed out of a spot straight into the side of my car. Its only when I continuously beep them,that they look around and see me there, and then proceed to apologise through the back window. Some actually appear pissed or puzzled when they see a car behind them when they are trying to reverse out. And I know you are supposed to let people reverse out, but I'm talkin about busy car parks here, where they think they can just pop it into reverse and work away!!!

    Also at roundabouts, many times ladies in massive space wagons or SUVs, often packed with kids, have just drove straight out in front of me without checking! Again, if you blow the horn, they look suprised to see another car there, and proceed to wave an apology.

    Maybe they are just thinking of 90 different things to do, or what soaps are on later, I don't know!

    In fairness I will agree wit many statements made on this topic!

    But I will agree the amount of times a black man or and woman cut me off, nearly crashed in to me - and to be fair the amount of lorrys that think they pwn the road and nearly took my life on several occasions- thinkin they can take over two lanes!

    Or what about the guys(sorry sum guys) in jeeps - oh holy god they are ridiculas I assume they think that are god and have rules of their own !

    I have to ask does any1 take it personally ?
    As when Im on my own I dont really care but when my son is in the car and sum1 attempts to endanger his life by wreckless driving Im fit to burst them!

    E.g - I was turning right on to a main road and it was quite busy!
    A lovely man in ajeep bhind me decided to come around to my left hand side and overtake me as I was pulling out! What an arse-bandit! I to avoid crashing in to him I had to brake while a lorry was coming towards me! Well to say the least I lost the head ! I followed him and as soon as we got to a traffice light which was red out I got and let rip! Only for the Garda I would have killed hime seriously!

    I know - I know I shouldnt hav gotten out of the car but that type of driving was a disgrace ! Obvoiously he was in a hurry to get sumwer important and that was more important than me and my sons life!

    So the moral of the story is although there is poor foreign drivers on the road there are also plenty of poor Irish 1's who havnt got a clue!

    P.S why do foriegners not put their children in the REQUIRED child car seats it breaks my heart everythime I see it ?

    I wouldn't say ALL black women are ****e drivers, but any I've seen have been. Driving some old Micra ****box, already covered in dents and/or filthy, gaze fixed straight ahead, two or three kids usually bouncing around unrestrained on the back seat etc. etc.

    One area where sterotypes do hold up is on the road, not just black women, or even women in general :) but taxis, white van drivers, soccer moms in SUVs and the likes.

    I dont think thats sexist at all.Fair statement.They seem to think they own the road if the car is packed with kids and it's a huge 4x4 they are driving.Ive lost count of the times ive seen a 4x4 full of kids and the yummy mummy with the mobile to the ear doing a u-turn on a road where it's not allowed.Also the amount of kids in cars without seatbelts on is unreal.Think they should impose a driving ban on anyone caught driving around with kids in the back who arent wearing a seatbelt.stupid ******

    no dont bother sorting it out. I call it slow/fast lane too and will continue too as long as sad f*ckers have to put the caveat that it (in squeezy nerdy voice) should be referred to as the overtaking lane before they will address the issue you are talking about.

    Going to plunge in here. Driving in Ireland/UK/Australia is obviously different to driving in Europe which is also different to driving in America which is also different to driving in Africa.

    First off coming from America or mainland Europe you have the different side of the road thing which can throw some people. If your coming from America you may also have to drive a manual which you would not be used to. In my experience most European drivers are on the same sort of level to Irish driver although they can have a tendency to speed a bit more than us - this could be explained by better roads where they learned and extra difficulty in getting anti-speeding messages across the language barrier.

    However coming from America or Europe is a doddle compared to coming from Africa which has a complete different culture. Driving is conducted in a totally different way. Most licences obtained there don't transfer to here. That is why you see lots of the members of the African community driving around with L plates. It's our fault L drivers get away with so much. If you have lived in Ireland all your life you pick up alot of the etiquette and basic rules of driving in this country, arrive from a culture as far removed as Africa and you don't have this knowledge.
    So yeah, I think there is a lot of bad foreign drivers on our road, not a race thing more a culture thing. It is exacerbated by our poor L-driver structure which allows pretty much anyone on the road.

    really I just thought he was being descriptive. I just looked the word up in dictionary.com
    here is the first description there

    "of, pertaining to, or derived from another country or nation; not native: foreign cars."

    it stand to reason that after ten years of migration to ireland quite a few people driving on our roads are foreign. Maybe not 6.2 billion people.?
