Judging by my friends, I would say 5' 8" is a pretty average height. I always think teenagers seem taller than in my day, but this is probably bitterness.

i think so, more than 40% of this thread would be 6ft or over if true which is well above average, in truth less than 10% should be over 6ft. if i went into a packed bar or club and nearly half the people were taller than me i would freak out, has never happened though

6"3 and in and around 16 stone (Its my bone density honest!). I say in and around cos Ive been doing exams and living very unhealthily as well as doing no training ( I do martial arts and play football to keep fit, recently Ive been kept fit by walking to the shop to buy lucozades to keep me awake

) so I havent checked cos Im scared of what ill see.

OH is 6' 1" most of my family are around the 6ft mark surely 5'9" is small for a guy???

Another one like me - I'm 5 11' and 135lbs, the rest of my family are over 6ft -6ft5' and in heels I'm unmissable. Any guy who thinks 5 8' is average is kidding himself btw.....

As I said earlier, Im about 5ft 2. Im happy with it.

I'm genuine 6ft 5 but Scottish and have noticed in my years here that even though I was tallish in Scotland I'm very tall here... maybe Irish guys are a little bit smaller than us Scots?!

18 stone would say ripped abs but don't need to lie about it...!!

Most Irish males would probably range from 5'08"-5'10" I would think. Average is just a bit above 5'09". 5'08" would be only a small bit below average.

I'm 5'11" and somewhere between 14 and 14.5 stone but it's on the way down.

On the whole average thing 5' 9" is average in Ireland but if you took a younger segment of the population that height average would be higher. Most people are probably taller than their auld lad due to diet, health etc.

The average 25 yr old in Ireland is probably between 5'10" and 6' 1" inclusive. That means anyone 5'8" or below is small anyone bigger than 6'2" is tall.

From lookin at alot of peoples height on here, i'd say the average height of blokes in Ireland is closer to 6' rather than 5'9'' or whatever it is.
