Good man OP.Chances are the werent even from the area so i wouldnt worry about any repercusions.Anyhoo, car thieves are cowards, they're afraid of thier lives of vigilantes,SF etc.The scum of the earth, most of them arent even profiting by thier crimes,i'd love to catch a few of them, take em off to a secluded spot and saw thier feet off.You cant press car pedals with no feet now can ya?

These guys are generally scum and have no fear. They will come back to damage your car/house(they know where you live) or you physically if the guy gets charged...

I dunno about that, I'd say they'd stick to another area from now on. You can't really generalise with thieves though, I mean you can't just say they all carry weapons on them. If they're robbing cars in the middle of the night, I doubt they'll return. Well done OP.

I'd love to see them try out their new stumps.

Fair play OP however I'd probably live in eternal fear of a brick through the window.

I;ve stopped car theft twice where I live but only through being outside. The thieves normally run off or stop once they realise someone is watching.

Fair play King, surprised the gardai didnt commend you or thank you for doing there job, but what can u do, I bet ya can have all the mad parties ya want now after doing that for your neighbour. Im surprised ur man turned around and squared up to you though. I work nights the odd time and about 4 months ago I was outside the building having a smoke at about 3am and seen two Scoobies looking in my car window, I ran over shouting expletives and they just upped on their toes and legged it, im not that tall either, 5ft 9", in hindsight they probably could have knocked the crap out of me and robbed the keys out of my pocket, but I was so angry I wud have gladly taken a beating just to land one or two clean punches.

Yep fair dues to you. If this happened more often a lot of the scum would think twice.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Have to say fair play to both of you.Similar thing happened to my family a few years when a scumbag broke into our house.

as you said if you gave him a fair beating (deservedly so) chances are he won't be back for more and i wouldnt worry about the guards either.

this thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy
well done to you and i hope yer mate feels better soon after his rubbish performance

rember that it was self defence that they attacked you and perhaps you should ring the boys to see whats happening don't worry they'll be sound but if your worried they'll give you advice as there is a slim chance the scm bags will try to get you in trouble

    Fair play OP.

Question - what did the neighbour say? Thanks? I'm presuming he wasn't the guy with you?

Fair play OP, its good to see that sometimes the scumbags get their just dessert.
Also good to see the gardai turning a blind eye, justice was served I suppose.

they said nothing at all, literally nothing and just took him away

I was expecting to be in spot of bother after bashin the guy but the guards didn't seem concerned

I'd say they were just dealing with the matter in hand first tbh. It is possible that they could land on your doorstep.

Another point, the criminals in question saw you come out of your house? I'm thinking the scum might resent the bashing you gave him. And the snitching :/

I am proud to say that unless a lady was involved or someone being ganged up on I would not bother my arse saving someone elses property. Why get hurt and charged for an in animate object that is not your own?

By the way, knock him out and leave him out side your garden. "Hello guards? I just saw some guy fall over outside my garden. I think he is drunk."

Last night about 02:30am I heard a bit of noise out the front garden, So I opens the hall door and there's 2 lads about 25ish breaking into the next door neighbours car, So I walked out into the front garden with my mate who was with me havin a few beer's and grabbed the 2 guys, one of them started wriggling and broke free of my mate and took on his toes and the other started to square up for a fight, so seeing the damaged car and car window and this guy starting to square up we just proceeded to basically to knock 7 bells of shiite outta him, called the guards and when they arrived we told them exactly what happened and what happened to the guy aswell, they said nothing at all, literally nothing and just took him away

I was expecting to be in spot of bother after bashin the guy but the guards didn't seem concerned

    Opinions anyone ???

    Good work.

I'm sure the gards aren't happy with you taking the law into your own hands but they have alot more to be worrying about than you and your friend giving a car thief a few smacks.

I would have beaten the scumbag up a lot more, then call the garda and tell them i only found the scumbag that way.
