Caught 2 car robbers !!!

Last night about 02:30am I heard a bit of noise out the front garden, So I opens the hall door and there's 2 lads about 25ish breaking into the next door neighbours car, So I walked out into the front garden with my mate who was with me havin a few beer's and grabbed the 2 guys, one of them started wriggling and broke free of my mate and took on his toes and the other started to square up for a fight, so seeing the damaged car and car window and this guy starting to square up we just proceeded to basically to knock 7 bells of shiite outta him, called the guards and when they arrived we told them exactly what happened and what happened to the guy aswell, they said nothing at all, literally nothing and just took him away

I was expecting to be in spot of bother after bashin the guy but the guards didn't seem concerned

Opinions anyone ???

Fair play. They deserved it and I'd do the same thing.

Just watch out that they don't come back with a bigger load of mates to get you. But they probably won't cause people like that are usually full of talk and no action.

Fair dues to you boy. I'd guess that you'd have the support of half of the male population of this country for what you did. Many of us would like to think we'd react in the same way with these scumbags. I can well believe that the Guards couldn't care less that he got a thumping, but the trouble is the idiotic laws we have as a result of the liberal elite. For example, if someone breaks into your house to steal your property and injures himself in the process, you are liable. If you run into him and he threatens you, you are required by law to retreat from him and not resist unless cornered and unable to escape. Even then, if you defend yourself, you must only use "reasonable force" to enable your escape. What the hell is "reasonable force" when most of us don't make a habit of getting into fights with anyone? I don't know the answer, but I do know that if anyone breaks into my property and threatens me or my family, I'll take a feckin' hatchet to him and to hell with THE LAW.

I suspect that your only danger is if he decides to lodge a complaint for assault against you, in which case THE LAW will conveniently forget that he's a thieving scumbag and will go after you.

Not if he arrested the person and restrained him until gardai arrived using no more force than was necessary :D

The type of people who rob cars wouldnt think anything of getting a bating.

Its the same they would have gotten off the gards if they had squared up to them.

These guys are generally scum and have no fear. They will come back to damage your car/house(they know where you live) or you physically if the guy gets charged. They usually are in gangs and sell stolen cars on through these gangs. They generally carry screwdrivers/knives etc to gain entry to cars/houses and would not think twice about using weapon to escape. The sentences are so low and run concurrently so they don't give a monkeys about that. A guy was stabbed to death confronting such guys in Ireland only last year, and I 've heard of many other cases. What anyone should do is immediately call police, look out window and get good look at them etc, it's not worth the risk for a bloody neighbours car. If you are gonna confront these guys, don't let them know where you live, cover your faces and bring weapons, but this is also unwise as they are usually experienced at fighting and using weapons and some are big f*ckers.

I have called gardai several times for burgalaries and car thefts in my estate. I saw two of the thieves one night about two years ago. They were big scumbags in tracksuits and looked off their head on coke. Gardai took for ever in getting to our road and they were gone. Another time my neighbours BMW was stolen, and I saw two guys driving it away from the estate and called gardai, the car was recovered in a car park a few miles away as a result of my call. I never said do nothing but you don't know how many of them are around(a gang of them usually park nearby in another stolen car and two walk around to the car they want to steal) or what weapons they may have or what they may do in the future knowing where you live. I don't attach much emotional sentiment to things like cars . Yes I hate thieves but I like living more than I hate thieves. they will get caught in end (nearly all do) . Safest thing for me and my family is to contact gardai immediately. If someone life was in danger from thieves I would intervene with weapon etc.

I remember when I was a kid, next door neighbour' house was broken into. The neighbour caught the burglar and....well..... wasn't exactly nice to him.

When he rang the guards and told them what happened, they told him to leave him in the middle of the road and ring back 10 minutes later to report a drunk lying on the road and they'd pick him up.

dunno what happened after that.

Good man OP.Chances are the werent even from the area so i wouldnt worry about any repercusions.Anyhoo,car thieves are cowards,they're afraid of thier lives of vigilantes,SF etc.The scum of the earth,most of them arent even profiting by thier crimes,i'd love to catch a few of them,take em off to a secluded spot and saw thier feet off.You cant press car pedals with no feet now can ya?

I dunno about that, I'd say they'd stick to another area from now on. You can't really generalise with thieves though, I mean you can't just say they all carry weapons on them. If they're robbing cars in the middle of the night, I doubt they'll return. Well done OP.

I;ve stopped car theft twice where I live but only through being outside. The thieves normally run off or stop once they realise someone is watching.

1. Has ANYONE here ever had 7 bells of shiite knocked outta them by 2 guys over 6'2" ??? and gone back for more

2. These guys are more than welcome back...cos Daddies shotgun (legally heald btw) will be awaitin, I'd even bring them in for a cuppa before knee capping the kuntz

Fair play King, surprised the gardai didnt commend you or thank you for doing there job, but what can u do, I bet ya can have all the mad parties ya want now after doing that for your neighbour. Im surprised ur man turned around and squared up to you though. I work nights the odd time and about 4 months ago I was outside the building having a smoke at about 3am and seen two Scoobies looking in my car window, I ran over shouting expletives and they just upped on their toes and legged it, im not that tall either, 5ft 9", in hindsight they probably could have knocked the crap out of me and robbed the keys out of my pocket, but I was so angry I wud have gladly taken a beating just to land one or two clean punches.

as you said if you gave him a fair beating (deservedly so) chances are he won't be back for more and i wouldnt worry about the guards either.

I am proud to say that unless a lady was involved or someone being ganged up on I would not bother my arse saving someone elses property. Why get hurt and charged for an in animate object that is not your own?

I'm sure the gards aren't happy with you taking the law into your own hands but they have alot more to be worrying about than you and your friend giving a car thief a few smacks.
