you are aware that an updated iphone is out in two weeks time. may be better to wait.

Wait! The stock is very low at the moment anyway so you might not even be able to get one.

It won't be on sale on the 6th. The announcement will be made on the 9th - the start of WWDC - during Jobs keynote. It may take a few days after that to go on sale.

it may not even be 3G but then again with my sources i wouldn't put money against it.

Boston's apple store is sold out of 8gig's and 16gig's

    and

New york's apple store is sold out of 8gig's and 16gig's.

i'm looking for one in florida, hopefully ill get one. but really is there much difference, what advantage has 3g? i wont ever make video calls-is there another advantage

3G is a good technology if you can get a data plan to go hand in hand with it.

having a 3G iphone means you will actually have the internet in your pocket and not just crappy 2.5G EDGE.

3G isn't just all about making video calls, it's just basically more data bandwidth (size of data you can send at any second), 3G is far superior than what's out there at the moment, and if apple get a 3G iphone out with a good enough battery then my old iphone is going up on adverts ASAP.

Hi all, just back from Florida (Orlando & Clearwater) i bought an Iphone for the wife but we had to come back a day or two later to get it as they were sold out of 8GB & 16GB when we went back in they only had 16GB back in. Bought it with an Irish Credit card no questions asked they are really friendly in all apple stores I went into while over there.

Also a friend of mine in work has a mate that works for Apple in America and he says that the 3G version of the iPhone is on its way alright but that its killing the battery really fast. They are looking at putting a setting on the phone to turn off 3G when you are not using it to save the battery life.

For me 3G isnt a major thing since I only use the web to check football news, cinema times etc and Edge is fast enough for that plus i have wifi at home which i use a bit when using installer etc. I wont be rushing out for a 3G iPhone when the current one does the job well.

do u mind me asking how much an 8 GB is or a 16GB in Florida-not that it'd be different r anything

Not to mention, we use UMTS/W-CDMA on 2100 (which IIRC is only for the downlink, the uplink runs on 1900), the US doesnt have the spectrum available for their operators to use the same frequencies we use or the channel sizes that W-CDMA requires. So AT&T are using some incompatible proprietary 1900 varient AFAIK.

Though What I heard was that the US was going to free up spectrum in 2100 and 1700 which would allow operators to use the existing 2100/1900 combination we seem to be using, or 2100/1700. Last I read, only T-Mobile had opted to use 2100/1700. So my guess is that this may mean two seperate versions of the iPhone.. one for the US market, and one for the non-US market. Either that, or Apple will find some way to cram the whole lot into the box. As fast as 3G is, I have found EDGE to be fast enough for most operations, now if they add a phone-as-a-modem feature, then I could see it being far more useful.

Its the same price as quoted on www.apple.com

    8G = $399.99
    16G = $499.99

AT&T staff have been told no holidays from june 15th to july 21st due to a "new promotion" they are expecting it to be busy

So a wild guess would be a June 15 or a day or 2 after that

Hi all - a colleague at work has an iphone (on o2 but it is unlocked and jailbroken). In the last day or so he has been unable to make or receive calls. When you ring you just get the tone that it is not connecting. Texts also dont work. Internet connection and all other functionality seems fine.

He hasnt changed any settings or anything, would something else have caused this?

    Cheers

Actually ignore that - he thinks work may have changed his phone access to data only

    Hey All,

I recently got an iPhone and everything is fine except loads of my songs, I'd say at least half of them cut out in the middle of the song, sometimes after just a few seconds. I have checked the songs on iTunes on my PC and the songs are playing fine all the way through. I have tried re syncing the songs again bur no change.

Any have a similar issue, any suggestions?

    Thanks

any of ye used touchpad pro yet? You can use the iPhone to control your PC/Mac, it's great :D I'm gonna have sooo much fun freaking out my relatives :D lol.

Think I might pay the €15 so you can see in real-time what they're looking at on the screen.... oh the mischief...... :D:D:D Very exciting

I was able to do similar with my Sony-Ericsson before, but it only worked with Bluetooth, and had to use the poxy stick thing. Touchscreen = awesome

BTW, anyone know an app/anything for fingerprints on the iPhone? I was thinking, it would be awesome if you could just put your fingerprint on the screen to unlock it!

hey guys, I'm might get an old iphone when the new one is released and there is *hopefully* a price drop, if no price drop, I dunno what I'll get.

Is there anywhere I can get the iPhone without a tariff after about the 9th of June?

    Thanks for reading,

    Brian

That certainly aint bad! But it seems to be just a button that shows a fingerprint when you press it with anything :D Definitely the right idea, but was hoping it would be able to save my fingerprint and only let me in ;)

    Cheers lad!

Anyone know any Iphone voice recorders to record telephone interviews?
My google search hasn't found anything and even ordinary voice recorder things that cost $20 or whatever to activate don't record conversations.
    Anything I'm missing?
