    Have you ever heard it??

Hoping I get a special show at MSG this summer! ;)

Nope can't say i have, might see if i can get a hold of it now. I've got a good few random boots from over the years, kinda just end up pickin them randomly or based on the set lists. The variety in set lists is one of the things which makes them so amazing live imo, so I'd say you're bound to be in for a treat from one of those shows at least... lucky bastard:pac:

The Band at the their Last Waltz show.

The Who at The Isle of Wight 1970.

    Hendrix at Monterey or Woodstock.

U2 at Zoo TV or Popmart.

One of those early Doors gigs at the Whiskey...

Any gig by the Cocteau Twins

I'd also like to add that Jeff Buckley at Whelans gig to my list!

Some of those early Lollapolooza shows would have been amazing too.

    I could go on...

But one of them would be that gig back in the day when Dylan went electric. People started shouting abuse and calling him a traitor. Even though there must have been thousands of people in front of him, he turned to the band and said : PLAY LOUDER!

    That's cojones.

Some whack-job even tried to cut the power cords with an axe...
I'd love to have been at that gig. Also one of the Sex Pistols gigs, after Sid joined the band. One of The Doors concerts around mid-1970s. One of Johnny Cash's Folsom gigs. Any Joy Division and Nick Drake concert. Seeing Beck after the release of Mellow Gold. Seeing NWA would've been cool too. Theres just so many....

I'm delighted I get the chance to see a Rage Against The Machine concert. The only reason I'm going to ****** on Sunday!

No one gig that I can think of, the band above all others I would have liked to have seen live are The Jam.

Would loved to have seen Talking Heads on their Stop Making Sense tour - I don't think they played Ireland though (and plus I was only about 4 at the time!)

Smashing Pumpkins supported by Whipping Boy in the SFX in 1995. I didn't have the money for a ticket. Boo!!!!!!

Sonic Youth supported by Nirvana in the Top Hat (think that was the venue) in Dublin - 1991.

Godspeed You Black Emperor in the Roisin Dubh in Galway (2000/2001 I believe it was)

Smog - Roisin Dubh Galway - November 2001. Just to see it again and meet the girl I met that night for the first time all over again!

And since we're time travelling - I hear that Mozart lad had some mental gigs in his day.

If I had to choose some QOTSA ones alone, Big Day Out 2001, Eurockeenes 2005, or 100 Club 2007. Everything on those vids just look so good, everything sounded tight, seemed brilliant.

For others, Smashing Pumpkins in SFX(Ash supported them). The Who @ Isle of Wight, RHCP in Slane(just wish I'd actually gone, not necessarily brilliant but hey), and i'm sure there are many other out there.

Maybe Whipping Boy supported them too. I only know of one night, maybe SP played more. I was only a wee chap back then. Tim, the singer from Ash told me about it, he never mentioned Whipping Boy. Plus I dont know any WB either!

Fair enough. They played two nights in a row (one night supported by Ash, the other by Whipping Boy) - this was the summer before Mellon Collie was released so they weren't huge in Ireland yet.

Oh right, I knew what the gigs were for(previewing MC&tIS), but didnt know they did two nights. So think for now I'll stick to my one of Ash supporting.

first gig of my life :). fond memories. idlewild supporting back when roddy woomble would jump around on stage like a mad scottish punk, long before he grew a beard and became a number selling folk singer. I remember Brian Molko encouraging the fans upstairs to jump off the balcony?... or some other act of anarchic defiance, which was very “rock & roll” to me when I was 15.

Was that the time a chunk of the ceiling fell on the stage and they had to stop the gig for a while. I think Idlewild supported them then.

This is mean but I feel like rubbing it in - saw him twice in Dublin. Once supported by Quasi!

    He was so good.

Loved to have seen that Jeff Buckley gig in Whelans (I believe the Frames supported :) ), Juniper at any stage during the mid-90s, R.E.M. during the mid 80s, Talking Heads at any stage and I really wish I'd seen Joanna Newsom when she brought her Milk-Eyed Mender tour to Ireland.
