I hope I dont get told my score then!!

Through my training I had to do a lot of role play exams, having never done role plays before I was cacking it!!

Some tips I soon learnt are to tack deep breaths before going in it helps calm you down and make sure to go to the toilet, your body has the worst timing when the nerves kick in.

Sounds like you you shouldn't have anything to worry about though alot should be down to common sense! Just think customer service!

Thanks. Im still a student though I work in a busy petrol station at weekends as a supervisor so that should help me a little with the old customer service aspect!

There is no dress code for the AC and this does not influence your scores in any way. Although i would always wear a suit to any of the tests and even my medical.
I do suggest suits and such like for all parties though during any of the testing.
    Alan

Have to disagree here alan. The medical letter i recieved said to wear suitable clothing i.e flexible trousers and top as you will have to do stretches and be able to move easily. Most people agree tracksuit trousers and t shirt is the usual outfit worn.

Well obviously anyone can really wear what they want but I have always wore a suit and been up to the end 3 times. Unless your wearing a skin tight suit then bending should not be a problem. I do think that now the meds are being held in seapark police station and by police occ health then i would feel it even more important to wear one. This is only my thoughts on it.

Seems I've opened a can of worms here ... Ok I accept that maybe you aren't specificaly assessed on your fashion sense or if you wear a suit/equivalent or not. However, remember you are applying to a uniformed organisation and your appearance and bearing will be noted, I promise! If you attend the AC unshaven (that's the men) and scruffy, what does it say about you? And how will this affect the responses of the 'actors' in your role play scenarios? Remember, stay grey. Don't give them anything negative to remember you by.
The IST and medical are, I believe, different (although I wore a suit to the IST) as you are not being assessed. Plus you have to get your kit off at med anyway, so best wearing loose clothes!

    All the best

    JVB

I wore smart to AC and good old trackies and trainers to medical... and i start on Sunday! Help!!

I think it does make a good impression to dress smart for the AC, also if you go looking good and feeling confident it may give you that extra bit of va va voom on the day! Every little helps! ;)

As for medical - as long as you are clean and respectable - the doc ain't bothered! :)

Congrats, it's been a long time coming for you. I'm still waiting but I can't complain being still in C13.

The best thing to do is dress smart. I wore black trousers and pumps and a white shirt. Very boring but it's better safe than sorry just encase people are taking note.

There is a tonne of info in previous posts in here on what to expect tho the best bit of advice is to NOT know too much. It can out you off, try to just go by the info given from concensia. It's pretty much impossible to practise for it but clue yourself up for which competencies they are looking for in each scenario, then you can tailor your answer to suit what they are looking for. Seemed to work for me.
Does anyone know what a female should wear to the A/C?

Any C13ers that could tell me? Or anyone?

    Thanks:)

Sir Hugh Orde said, approx 8000 applicants this campaign and 39% were catholic (he said that last week when he was belittling the twats* who were trying to dissuade catholics from joining the PSNI).

According to a document I found,In campaign 7 there was an average of 61% attendance at the IST.

Which means if there is 8000 applicants this time, straight away you are down to 4880 (obviously not accuarate for campaigns now but it gives an idea of what the figures might be)

Then a total of 60% passed the test. Which leaves it at 2928 people left.

From the assessment centre Im sure it gets alot smaller as well, due to people not turning up etc.

These numbers are not in anyway reflecting this current campaign before people start to call me a liar. Just an idea of what has happened in the past, and how the numbers can quickly drop.

Good info Goodcopbadcop, I suppose there will always be a big difference in figures for applicants against the numbers that go through with the process. I spoke to 2 guys at my IST who were there purely to appease parents, hadn't a notion about actually getting anywhere with it!

Anyone do their IST on the 23rd April?

I did and by my calculation, I should get the result in the post tomorrow morning (judging by the first results coming out on saturday).
That's maybe taking things for granted though.

Feel sick sick sick at the thought of opening the envelope though.

    Hi Inspector

Yes I did mine that day too. I've been trying to tell myself that what is for me will not go by me, as they say, but I know I will be gutted if it's a dear John coming in the post. It could well come tomorrow - I just want to know either way at this point so hoping it does.

    Good Luck :D

Was talking to someone who has a family member in the police and said they were away with the PSNI on a trip to New York to see the police there and see how things are done in the states.

Did you get any offers to go on this or know anything about it. Would be amazing I think.

I know how you feel. I was under the impression my results werent to be out untill this week so I had put waiting for the post out of my mind. On saturday I looked on the forumand realised that people had received their results, both passes and fails. I knew that mine too would be in the post and that the would be on the porch floor in a matter of minutes. My dad was up at my grans house and the postman had left our post with him. Dad rang to say there was a big envelope for me! I drove up that road so fast(just as well no cops were out). Took the letter in my hand, didnt know if it was a past or fail or if to open it in front of dad or not. I tore it open, peeking inside and there were 3pages(1 mint green 1), so before actually reading the letter i knew it was a pass.

All the best, its awful waiting I know!

Just done my IST there today.
Jeez was i nervous. walking into the conference suite my heart was throbbing and it felt as if you could actually see it popping in and out of my chest lol.

starting the test though wasnt bad, but when i saw 15 minutes had passed i got my skates on and started going though Part A abit quicker. with 30 seconds left on the clock i had 6 questions to answer, so i started circling randoms (not good, probably means i failed.:()

Part B i actually found alot easier than part A, maybe im better with my Math or maybe just lucky, but i worked from Back to Front on part B, as i heard rumors of there being more points for the last 10 questions than the rest.
So back to front i completed part B with around 45 seconds left. a quick look over unsure answers and that was me.

I didnt know anyone though i met up with this nice girl from newry who i started talking to and we calmed each other down i think :D

everyone was very unsocial before regestering, then as soon as everyone was waiting the chit-chat began. Really help to calm my nerves.

All in all i think i have failed, but by a small margin, and if i fail by 1 mark im actually going to punch myself lol :p

let the 20 days commence !!! (until i fail) :D lol

    Stephen~

You will be fine, especially as you completed it. Many dont get it finished!

Dont say you have failed, as you have every chance of passing. Chin up mate:D
