The jist of my point was that many "Catholics" think that the Immaculate Conception means that Mary conceived Jesus as a virgin.

    It doesn't mean that.

It means that Mary was conceived without original sin, hence, immaculate.

And I'm not even a Catholic.

Ah but would these Irish housewives with their previously stagnant juices have access to American television? I doubt RTE picked it up as early as Sep 85.

As a community we are living away beyond our means. I don't mean that everyone in the community is living too well, clearly many are not and have barely enough to get by, but taking us all together we have been living at a rate which is simply not justified by the amount of goods and services we are producing.

Although I was month late, so it was more likely to be Xmas celebrations for me. I do know it was in America, in a place called Madison, if my mother was Victoria Beckham she could have called me that after it!

You wanna hear about precise timing? :P

i'm 23. My brother and I were both due on the same day of October, three years apart.

We try and stay away from the house and my parents every January 6th cause first thing we hear from them is "Happy Conception Day, kiddies!!", followed by evil giggles and manic laughter

How am I not more screwed up??

Where does it say this in the Bible.

In fact, where does it even say he was born in December?

I take it you've heard of Mithras right?

Roman god, Saviour sent to earth to live as a mortal, through whom it was possible for sinners to be reborn into immortal life. Died for our sins, came back to life the following sunday, born in a manger to a virgin on December 25th, attended by shepards, became known as the light of the world, he had 12 disciples with whom he shared a last meal, his devotees symbolically consumed his flesh and blood, his feast day was Sunday (because he was a sun god). Mithrasists gave each other gifts on December 25th, and their leader was called a papa, and he lived on Vatican hill in Rome.

Yeah Mithras. I believe he subsequently fired his agent.
