Hi guys new to this just like some of ya!!
Done the IST today.......! Can not believe how difficult part 2 was, I know from reading past posts that this was said but never expected to be as hard!
Guessed a lot of the answers due to time running out, didn't find part 1 too bad so hopefully my marks will be evened out!!

Can I ask what held you up all this time? Just wondering incase the same is in store for me!

Can I ask what held you up all this time? Just wondering incase the same is in store for me!

Well medical was late March so i suppose i didnt have to wait that long. The hold up was getting the extra info i needed. First the specialist's secretary i needed the info from wouldn't give me the info. She said i needed to get my doctor to write to them requesting it. So my doctor did that and about a week later (which was now maybe a week and half from the medical) I still didnt have anything back. Rang the secretary again to put the pressure on and she said she would get it sorted.

I waited until the following Monday which was just over two weeks from the medical and still nothing. Rang again and she said would get straight on it. On the Wednesday still nothing so my own doctor rang and that afternoon i had a letter. The secretary or specialist obviously didnt understand what was being asked of them and just basically gave me info i already had.

So..... back on the phone again stating again exactly what i needed. She said she'd get straight on it - noticing a patern here???

Into the third week still no friggen letter. I rang again and emphasised they were about to waste the best part of a year by not getting me this letter and that it was absolutly imperative i had it soon. She said she understood etc etc and finally the following tuesday I got the letter with the info i needed. Got it off in the post and now 3 or 4 weeks later i have my answer :) Couldn't have cut it much finer.

So 3 weeks from sending them the info you got the pass letter?

Hope Im not delayed too much, I had to have my blood pressure taken by my GP and sent the letter stating it was normal off the day after my medical. What more can they ask for really. Its proved to be normal by the doctor so cant see there being a problem, but you never know with these things!

After looking back over the calender i thought it might be more like 4 weeks since i got the letter away to them that i've now heard back. But on a second look its exactly 3 weeks since i posted my letter to them.

When did you send yours off?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

I did medical 2 weeks on Thursday past. Sent the doctor letter off the next morning. Conor 123 was doing his medical same day as me and got a pass letter today.

Considering I sent the letter off straight away, just wondering if it will cause any complications or will i hear fairly soon?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭BoutYe

Well only from my own personal experience if the letter states exactly what they asked for then i'll guess you'll be hearing pretty shortly.

Hi guys considering what happpened lets be ULTRA careful what we say do on this board.

Anything can be gleamed form the posts.....no direct references to dates, places etc....Im sure PSNI will agree..

Hope our potential colleague will be ok...and the morons who crawled out form a stone are found.

Thoughts go out to the individual in question and his family.
Let's hope that these "hard" people with nothing better to do get a life.

    Hiya PSNI,
just completed the initial test yesterday in enniskillen.went pretty good i feel.so wait now to hear word back on the next stage.just wondering about the role play proceedure and im 25 now and since i finished my leaving cert(6yrs ago)ive had numerous jobs....buildings..factories etc...
just wondering will my work history go against me as ive never really stayed at one job for more than over a year due to lack of interest and it been repetitive.also ive planned to go travelling for 4months end of year, november through to february..will that pose a problem?

    cheers mate

I applied at 9pm on the first day too. Had my test on the 21st April and here I am still waiting!!! IF i have passed im putting the wait down to confirmation of assessment centre dates. Tried it last year too, failed the IST by 4 marks DUH!!! Fingers crossed 'ey?

PS. i think im one of the youngest on here, Im 18 (19 in july)

Im younger than you, 18 today in fact lol! Just used your comment as an excuse to make that point lol!

I done my IST yesterday and it was a complete killer!! Did any one else do it in Enniskillen?. . Did anyone see the person who forgot to bring their bag into the room? Well that was me lol! "Does anyone in here own a grey sports bag?" that was not a good start but I was too nervous!

Honestly part B was just far far too hard! I don't think anything can prepare you for it. I remember a while back I posted a comment here saying I wasn't worried about the IST test. . well how wrong I was!!!

I seen that so may people didn't even bother to guess some of the questions and left so many blank. I know you only have a 25% when yopu guess but I'm sure that will add up and hey it could make the difference!

I had to go in my uniform and then get to school asap because I had another test

Best to guess than leave blank, cause you will at least have a 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 chance of getting the answer correct! Let the waitin comence, dont know if you read a previous comment from chatterbox (i think) he/she rang consensia yesterday and they said no results will be posted untill next week. They did their IST the day after me and mine was mon 21st april! Next week will be my 5th working week waiting! Though maybe once consensia get into the swing of this campaign, you later IST ones wont have as long to wait

I wouldn't say so. What you have gained is called life experience. Your tactic should be to draw on the experience you gained in previous jobs and apply this to the assessment centre role plays if you have passed the IST. Regarding the 4 month holiday: You would need to make that known to Recruitment if you pass vetting and the medical and are high enough in the merit pool to be in with a chance. They usually honour pre-booked holidays.
