im not just posting this to be contraversial but as far as an oldschool line up,its hardly the cream of the crop.
i wouldnt travel to the pool for that lineup but each to there own

if your into vintage House music i cant think of many better nites that have been on, these people are connoisseurs of House Music.

And yeah Liverpool is good for going out in alright:)

For somebody who doesnt think oldskool is as "good" as the new stuff, you have an awful lot of opinions. To be honest I don't hink you have a clue. Thats an absolutely brilliant line up.

yeah i dont think the old stuff is as good as the new.its common sense that its better.better technology means more sophisticated sounds production techniques which means better sounding tracks.
everything progresses,if you dont go with it people become stagnant(another point in that statement but i wont bring it up).
its like comparing a model t ford with a ford focus.im sure when the model t came out people were very excited.they thought look at this marvelous piece of technology.its ****ing amazing.but to compare it to a modern day equivalent is ridiculous.
so yeah its rididculous to even argue that modern day dance music hasnt improved over what came out 20 years ago.
i think these"wasnt as good as it was in my day"people need to be more open to these changes.
as for me being qualified to make such a statement you gotta remember ITS AN OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
people have them and guess what man,not everyones is the same as yours.
i merely said that i dont think the lineup merits a trip overseas.
if u2 were playing london would you fly over and see them there,dont think so.
but hey make the trip man,at the end of the day do what you want and dont even concern yourself with what a person in new york thinks of your current situation

Im only 24 mate and I love my new music as much as my old skool.
I think the comparisons you make between old and new cars and such lark is totally irellevant and pointless in this argument.
So basically what your saying is the likes of Led Zeppelin from years ago are no where near as good as lets say "the killers" as music technology has evolved so much that Led Zeppelins music has being overtaken because the technology from back then is far inferior to now. I really dont get your points at all man. Sorry.

thought id replied to this already.
anyway.when you start opening up a discussion about dance music to other genres such as rock and roll then things get a bit more tricky.
the way rock and roll is recorded hasnt changed as drastically as the way dance music is produced.dance music is technology based music so to argue that the improvements made in technology hasnt effected the dance music being produced is ridiculous,of course its changed it for the beter
some of the greatest performances have been a person and an acoustic guitar.lyrical content is much more important than it is in dance music which is mainly instrumental music.
the car reference may have been a bit broad but you get my point.
now to argue that i dont have a clue about oldschool music when im actually the same age as you is also a bit presumptious.why would you be better equipped than me to comment on it when we both grew up at the same time.
if you dont get my point cool but i think its a valid point

jaysus ive heard it all now...Fintomiginto is right though, might not have anything to do with dance music when he makes a good point when he mentions comparing say the Killers a popular rock band today to Led Zeppelin from yesteryear, there is no comparasion Led Zeppelin would be far better , technology is important sure but that certainly doesn't equate to todays music being better when it clearly has not got a patch on the older stuff, and before you ask yes i do like a lot of stuff today but a lot of it is tripe and there is alack of originality.

of course better technology leads to better dance music.all the other points arent relevant to this thread.

even if you take your rock and roll analogy.
you guys would probably saying the same thing when the electric guitar came about,the synthesizer another example.these were all technological breakthroughs that allowed people to make better music so to argue technology doesnt play a part is a bit silly

so they have not improved the design of the electric guitar since it was first made,the first synth was so flawless that it didnt need improving.some synths over time got improved by adding midi capabilities,polyphony etc.
these days there are more complex effects,its not even a digital issue either.
better mics,desks monitors all contribute to better sounding music.
now look at the digital age,look at programmes like melodyne or the new omnishere synth.tell me thats not going to open a world of possibilities.
you lot are saying that at a certain point(when elctric guitars and synths were made)sound creation stopped, that the whole digital age was then spent making emanulations of these instruments.
how you can still deny new technology leads to better music is beyond me

I actually cannot believe your opinion sean. The majority of dance tunes now are fairly repetitive and have just one main breakdown. Wheras tunes from yesteryear have several breakdowns usually different to one another. There was more thought put into tunes and IMO a lot of tunes these days(not all of them) sound like they were concocted in a matter of mins.(I suppose these are the benefits of dance music technology) Dance music nowadays goes through phases where at any one point 50 or 60% of tunes of a particular genre actually sound remarkably similar. Electro and minimal house are great examples of this. Wheras years ago every tune produced was totally different to the next. I really think dance music has gone too far off its original flightpath and has left behind the sounds that made it so popular and fresh in the first place. A lot of tunes now have no feeling and actually sound like they came straight off a laptop and were constructed by some super geek who likes computer noises. (Sorry went on a bit there.) For me there aren't many tunes produced these days that give you the spine tingle. IMO to suggest that Dance music now is much better than dance music from years ago is absolutely wrong in so many ways. Its such a weird point to make. Do you think the average clubber knows the difference between a tune that was produced on a laptop to a tune that was produced on a drum machine and a synthesiser? I dont really think they would. At the end of the day its all about the music.

same can be said for any style of music these days,look at how many similar sounding emo bands there is.
every genre of music goes through popular phases.
in dance music technology is directly linked.
look at the equipment the oldschool producers had at there disposal and look now.you cant deny they have more variety,more sounds to choose from or create.
its like rock and roll having no distortion,wah,delay pedals and these were all advances in technology.
so by your reckoning weve reached a point where we cant generate anything new.
at least your acknowleging that im entitled to my opinion:D
when a new genre comes out its fresh.doesnt mean it cant be improved on.

There is a severe lack of originality in dance music thesedays even the most fervent of "nu skooler" cant deny that, one just has to look at the amount of remixes of old skool classics being churned out.

show me any genre of popular music thats fresh.
the reason it was fresh and original was because it was new.
