Brown, Ballack and to a lesser extent Flamini all stepped up to the plate when they were needed most. All three silenced their not inconsiderable critics with their performances this season.

    Ballack

Ballack had a really good season but tbh, I expected that. For me, Flamini was the most improved player this season. There were talks of Arsenal getting rid of him last summer but he hung in there and was absolutely pivotal to their midfield.

OK he was injured a lot but an honourary mention to Jimmy Bullard for me. Fulham were dead and buried 'til he got back in the team.

Sun Jihai. Just the one OG this season. Only gave away two penos as well.

Consistently average having played the most games in the best defence in England and Europe this season? Am I missing something??

he played loads because we had no one else to play at RB, not because he is all that good at it. Evra is an example of what a united full back should be. Brown is not. He is consistently average player, who has played a couple of blinding games, and also had more than a few absolute stinkers. The number of games you play isn't automatically a guide to improvement or brilliance.

So yes, yes you are missing something imo.
Silly comment. You don't play over 50 games for the club and have Fergie refer to you as outstanding if you are average. With that said, I see you named him on the other thread as one of the players you'd like to see leave the club so I'm guessing you just really dislike him. Why I do not know.

    As above.

He is a fairly poor crosser, doesn't have much skill on the ball, no shooting ability, basic passing skills and he doesn't get tight enough to the winger which allows too many crosses to come in. He is not good enough at right back, and I would swap him for Lahm or Alves in a heart beat, no doubt. As a centre back he is a lot stronger, once he has a commanding player beside him, but as a right back he is average at best, on a consistent basis. A decent squad player, but if Neville had no been injured all season you would hardly have noticed Brown was there. As for Fergie calling him 'outstanding', if he really rated Brown that highly, he would not have been offered a third tier contract, he would have been offered a contract befitting an 'outstanding' first choice right back. He wasn't, and United were prepared to let him leave on a free in the summer if he didn't sign a squad player contract.

Ballack is not the most improved player this season, he's just back to his usual high standard of play.

Lescott knocked the socks off me the few games i saw him play.

Ballack finally picked up his game and was impressive.

As an Arsenal Fan Adebayor and Hleb.

Its ridiculous to put Ballack in here. I think its more for young players yet to prove themselves or the average/poor players who finally came good.

Ballack has been a superstar for years and had one quiet season. This year he is back to his best so you can't say he is an improved player. Simply one that got over his injury/quiet season.

For me best improved player I'd have to say Flamini.

David Bentley has impressed me this year, before this year he didnt stand out. Torres also.

Most improved players for me this season would be :

    Ashley Young
    Lescott
    Flamini
    Bentley
    Kranjcar

For me the most improved players are Brown, Lescott and Adebeyor. Also Santa Cruz has improved a lot from his last couple of seasons in Munich. He beat his previous best goal tally by 15 this season.

I'd swap Glenn Johnson for Krancjar personally, but both have improved vastly.

    I'd agree with the others.

Beat me to it - he was the main reason behind Fulham staying up IMO

Jones at Sunderland showing he can cut it in the PRM deserves a mention too but Flamini is definetly my choice - he will be a huge loss

    Richard Dunne??

Young- Unbelievable, just hope we'll hang onto him
Flamini- Amazing season! All about putting himself in the shop window
Andy Reid- Basically kept Sunderland up when he arrived!!

Definitely agree with Reid and Young, immense for their clubs. Flamini has improved but if it was all about putting himself in the shop window then thats an injustice to the manager and the fans in my opinion.

I was actually thinking Glen Johnson too but went with Krancjar maybe because of his International games I have seen him play too.

But they are 2 very good players for Portmouth and if Defoe keeps up his goal scoring ye will be in a nicer postion this time next season I think.
