I had 15 years experience and i had to go through the Consensia circus, so don't pin your hopes on just tranferring across.
If you do get in without going through the normal route let me know i would be very interested to know the reasoning behind it.

Secondly, if you can stay where you are i would. It's very different over here.

Peza what did you find different? ( I know PACE is the same just slightly different wording on some legislation)

Unfortunately circumstance dictates that we move home, it feels right and Ive come to terms that a career in the police may not happen. :(

Im aware of the no transfer rule but have been told that if successful through the campaign I have no probation period and condensed training at Garnerville.

The unfortunate side is that yes you have to go throught the same recruitment process as everyone else.
On the plus side yes you only have 5 weeks training and firarms etc thereafter so its more condensed. Plus you will be treated differently than other trainees who come from the public and not other forces.

peza999 might disagree with that statement!

I beginning to think that we have passed because it takes longer to hear if its a pass due to an A/C date needing to be arranged. Its been dead quiet on here. Im watching police camera action at the mo. No long till NYC now???

Don't give up already MrsGeneHunt!! PMA PMA (positive mental attitude - I keep saying it to myself hoping it'll sink in eventually) :D.

Nothing from Postman Pat for me this morning either. I'm guessing either everyone on this forum who has done their IST has either passed or the 1 week = fail, 2 weeks = passed rule isn't applying this time??!! Time will tell....but I wish it would hurry up!!

i just know that the day I come home from work to find the white enevlope sitting there, I'll be wetting myself to put it nicely (!) . Then it'll probably take an hour to summon the courage to open it after all that waiting :) just want to know, get the devastation over and done with!

I would be surprised if any of you have passed to be honest, not one of you has a bit of belief in yourselves. Stop being to negative, you havent failed until you get a letter saying you have. So keep a positive attitude until then.

Gut instinct is a powerful thing, and Id rather have my hopes raised by passing it than have geared myself into believing I'm going through to the next stage and then finding out that Ive fallen at the first hurdle.

I have passed, I have passed, (I haven't passed), I have passed. This is my 3rd (working) week so the results have to come this week or next or the 20 days are up!! Maybe tomorrow?!?

I think if you read my message again you'll find it was very positive and I'm somewhat surprised by the tone of your message. I assume as only 4 of us posted today about the IST that the 'not one of you' remark was aimed at us all which is why I decided to reply. Just because I have remarked on how difficult I found the IST and was surprised by how difficult it was, and because I am impatient for the results does not mean that I am being negative or have no belief in myself. To say that you would be surprised if any of us passed is a bit arrogant don't you think? Time will tell, but let's hope you are wrong .

Every time I come on here the same people leave the same messages saying how its only a matter of time until they fail. Lighten up people, you have heard nothing yet so theres a very good chance you have passed.

Don't bicker mustbecrazy and goodcopbadcop!!! I hate when arguments start on here. :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

    What arguments? :D

All im saying is stop putting yourselves down, Im sure you have all passed and then we can look forward to the assessment centre.

Don't worry, I had/have no intention of 'bickering' with goodcop, he has been a great source of info on here for me, but I wanted to reply to his message which I assumed included me. I've said my bit, and now it's business as usual :p

Feela bit guilty now as it seems to have been my lunchtime rant which kicked this all off...I'm pretty certain I failed due to the fact that whilst I had revised A LOT for the IST and done numerous practice tests from a very reliable source, part 2 was a LOT harder than I had anticipated and I panicked. Normally I am the "cup half full" kinda gal but am just gutted cos I want this so much and whilst I went in as prepared as I could be, although I wasnt uber confident, I was relatively calm, until I turned that bloody data card over!! Then, sh*t, fan, you get the picture people!
I dont want to even BEGIN to think about passing and get my hopes up one iota!!
Goodcopbadcop has been invaluable for info here so no bashing okay!!:D

Will keep my carb depleted lunchtime ramblings to meself from here on in;)

    *Group Hug y'all*:p

Here have a wee present on me.

Dispite what you think, I have a feeling you have probably passed. Its been a good while since you did the test. They must be sorting out a date for your assessment centre.

    Think positive :D

    hey all,
just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me really??
was called for my medical on the 13th of march.. got my letter on the 23rd to say i've passed.. no word yet of pass or fail on the vetting.. not even a peep... anyone any thoughts or ideas?

    Muchly appreciated.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

Im in similar position although only did medical last week!

When did you send your vetting off? It can take a while, depending on how many addresses etc.

It is most likely your vetting isn't complete yet!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 ismise69

hmmm.. i sent off the vetting waaaaay before the medical.. sometime around january i think it was.. there are only 2 addresses too.. so its quite strange.. i dont want to go calling them up, because like everyone else on here i'm fretting bad news. and i'd rather get that in paper form so i can read it over and over again and let it sink in.. rather than just hear "no" on the phone.. bhahahaha.. anywho!! i shall still keep my fingers crossed for everyone on here.. and wish you all the best of luck.

Thats a good while back. Don't know what to say to you. There is alot of people to get through, and it says it can take a very long time, so bear that in mind.

I'm not sure how they inform people of a pass or fail at vetting, but I imagine if you get a medical then they must have at least started to look at your vetting. Im just guessing though.

I know what you mean about ringing up. It was depressing hearing a high merit number on the phone, followed by a bye. :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 ismise69

bhahaha.. although i think i remember reading someplace that they only give you a medical if you've passed the vetting??? is this the case?? i mean it'd make sense right? why waste the tax payers cash on a medical for someone who might not pass the vetting.. seems only right.. ooops.. i'm rambling on now.. sorry.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

It does make sense But I think people have got vetting and then medical in the same couple of weeks, so dont know how likely that is.

If you can't wait anymore just ring and find out what is going on! Its probably just still ongoing.

i dont know if it is relevant but i did my medical then my vetting afterwards,im pretty sure it was anyway:confused:,no,it definatly was after,i did my medical in october and sent my vetting away in november.
it's only speculation but perhaps all the places have already been filled up and they are waiting for the august intake.aslong as you haven't got a dear john letter i wouldnt fret too much.

passed my medical end of december and my vetting has been away from november, still wasn`t complete last week, girl said in this campaign there were more peole whos vetting was still outstanding than had actually completed(and was quite normal to be waitng this long) although they also told me two or three months ago i was in final stages:confused:,still waiting:(

I've just been put on SSRI anti-depressants. Is there any point in me doing the IST? It's next week. I heard somewhere that you will fail the medical if you've been on anti-depressants within the last 2 years, though this could well be nonsense.

If you want the job and dont want your condition to ruin your chances then you should of held off for a while without the medication. It wont do you any favours thats for sure when being assessed at the medical.

If you are so bad that you had no choice but to take them now, then I dont think policing is likely for you in the near future. Not that you would not be capable of the job, but from what you have said on here your life would just be tourmented with the stress of it all.
