If you want the job and dont want your condition to ruin your chances then you should of held off for a while without the medication. It wont do you any favours thats for sure when being assessed at the medical.

If you are so bad that you had no choice but to take them now, then I dont think policing is likely for you in the near future. Not that you would not be capable of the job, but from what you have said on here your life would just be tourmented with the stress of it all.

This is true, but I was getting too bad, I was getting a bit desperate for a quick, albeit temporary, solution. Plus without the drug, I could just forget the whole thing. With the drug, seems I can forget it too. It's a lose/lose situation.

Hmm well maybe my dream is just that and I should just forget about it. Which is a little sad but maybe it's not meant to be.

I've just been put on SSRI anti-depressants. Is there any point in me doing the IST? It's next week. I heard somewhere that you will fail the medical if you've been on anti-depressants within the last 2 years, though this could well be nonsense.

Your honesty is admirable Ultravid, and I'm including in that what you have shared on the forum before. Do the IST, only yourself and the medical can decide on the outcome. There's no point listening to disheartening 'advice'.

Going by the medical standards document that was posted on here a while back, under the section where it describes depression etc, I think it says that each condition is judged own its own standards (?)

Your medication is there to help you, and it proves your responsibility that you used it.

Please do not give up, go for it and see how you do! Think about the medical side of things when the time comes. :)

No worries:D. My test was Monday 21st April, so I waited all that week, all last week and half of this week!!!! I failed last time and it came within 2 weeks. I really thought they would have been in the post today. I seem to spend my days saying 'maybe tomorrow'

Im young, free and single. I almost had my application sent away for Greater Manchester Police when I noticed the PSNI were opening recruiting again. I got offered a place at the University of Glamorgan in South Wales for a Police degree but I turned it down!!!

It was indeed. especially since I was told it would be 6 weeks maximum.

It was ok though, the waiting just began.

I had to sit another 12 weeks without a word, until My vetting was sent out.

Now im back to waiting again for god knows how long

I dont really understand why it takes so long. I know there are loads of candidates but 12 weeks waiting is cr*p!!!

Not everyone waits as long as I did, most people got letters to say they passed within 4 weeks and did medicals etc last year but I think its because I was further down the list.

Hi I was just wondering how you find working for the PSNI? Is the training really intense? I would be worried about the medical exam too because I have pins and plates in my ankle. I have my exam on the 21st of May in Dublin. I myself was previously unsuccessful when I applied for the guards the last two times so I decided to give the PSNI a go. Is there many people up there from the South, I myself am from Cork. Could you also please tell me what to expect on the exam I bought that book mentioned earlier, will they be the types of questions that will come up? I would be very greatful if you could give me any info at all! thank you!! Jen:)

I'm starting to get really impatient!:pac:

Passed medical, never received anything in the post about background vetting but when I phoned up last week I was told I'd passed it... Anyone else in The same boat, with everything passed but still no word? Do you reackon they'll wait till summer to tell people if they're in the august intake? That'd be mean lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

Heres something I been wondering also. Since there are no intakes June or July, will they use this time to inform the august, september, even october intakes. Im sure there are enough people sitting like ourselves waiting around, maybe they will give the remainder of people a start date during the summer months.

Maybe not, but it would be good to know a date.

That would be the right thing to do but the way this process is i doubt that very much:mad:.

Just wondering, will we get our results on the same day as we both had the same test session? I have college tomorrow but will have forum access so if you get your results will you let me know? Hate not being at home for the post arriving:pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

I would but im working tomorrow so wont be home until 5! Probably will get letter same time as each other I would say. I been speaking to 3 or 4 people I know who did the test that day as well, and they have heard nothing yet either.
