    Extracts.........
A 73-year-old Austrian is under arrest on suspicion of hiding his
daughter in a cellar for 24 years and fathering seven children with
    her, police say.
The existence of the woman, believed missing since 1984 and now 42,
emerged after a teenager said to be her daughter was taken to hospital.

One of the children the man allegedly fathered died in infancy, police
    believe.

Three children, including the 19-year-old who was taken to hospital, were
allegedly kept in the cellar with their mother while the other three
reportedly grew up with their grandparents.

The six children are three boys and three girls aged between five and 20.

"They are being cared for individually - those between 12 and 16 years of
age who grew up with their grandparents, and two boys who, when they
came out yesterday with their mother, saw the daylight for the first
time in their lives," he said.

She said she had been sexually abused by her father since the age of 11.

Josef allegedly lured her into the cellar of their house in Amstetten on 28
August 1984, drugging and handcuffing her before locking her up.

Abused continuously during the 24-year-long imprisonment",
Elisabeth bore six children while a seventh, one of a set of twins, died soon after birth.

The dead baby was allegedly taken out of the cellar and burnt by Josef.

His wife Rosemarie had allegedly not been aware of what was going on.:eek::eek:
I'm speechless tbh. What a nightmare for that poor woman and her kids.

the other three reportedly grew up with their grandparents.

Em... would the grandparents not have been like 'So, where the fuck did these 3 kids come from?'

How could his wife not know what's going on?

    a) Her daughter would have been missing since 1984.
    b) In 24 years had she no reason whatsoever to go into the cellar?! (presumabely it's in their home, correct me if I'm wrong...)
    c) Her parents, or her in-laws, all of a sudden have these 3 new kids. Questions to be asked there maybe?

There's got to be some more secrets.

Anyways, what an antichrist. I couldn't conjure up something like that in a nightmare. And he burnt the baby?! I have no words at all for that.

Bloody hell..... I can't even imagine how torturous that would be. What a waste of lives. I guess be glad that she can start trying to piece her life back together now, with her kids.

She only agreed to speak with the authorities if they made sure she would never see her father again, and her children be taken into care.

I would say her head is fried.

But what good is that to her that the man was caught at the age of 73??! There must be fcuk all life left in him. Nice slow painful death ftw.

i saw this on the news earlier. it is disturbing to think how some peoples minds work. who could do this to their own child. how someone could be so evil to someone they brought into this world is beyond me. a father is supposed to protect his child from animals like this, not subject them to that kind of torture. i have a child and if someone did something like this i would have no qualms about taking the matter into my own hands. the authorities could have what ever was left of him after i was finsihed with him.

this bast*rd better be locked up for the remainder of his life, none of this letting him out of prison early so he can spend his final years a free man crap.

Yeah.... if I'm stuck in/around my house for a week, even with the internet and computer, I get pretty bored and go a bit mental. I couldn't even contemplate what it would be like to be stuck in a CELLAR, with NO SUNLIGHT (forget about boards!), and being regularly abused.

I'd probably just kill myself in those circumstances

    Surprising she didn't kill herself.

Completely mental and unfathomable. I know its unlikely but I hope she recovers to some extent at least.

What is it with Austria? First that young girl in the basement and now this. The fact this woman wrote a letter and hid it on her daughter who the man was bringing to hospital shows she still had some life left in her. Why was the man sending his child/grandchild to hospital if he was so screwed up? That almost smacks of a caring streak.

The grandparents were told the kids were the children of the "missing" girl, but that they had been left outside the parents house with notes saying she could not look after them herself.

Maybe kinder to put her out of her misery or to start the therapy by letting her beat the shíte out of her tormentor with a crow bar.

    Something about sandwiches

After the other case where the girl was locked up for 14 years, it got me thinking if it was possible that somewhere else in the world somewhere somebody was gonig through the exact same thing, but then I shrugged it off and figured it was impossible....now this comes out and I'm like "wtf???". Just hope this is the last...

Doubt it... There's over 6 billion people in the world. Lots of potential psychopaths. I would hazard a guess that there is at least 5 people going through this same torture right now. That woman and her kids have been going through it for the past 24 years!

Don't let him off easy: Cut off his eyelids and tie him to the ground on his back in the desert, worked for the Romans

But what would you have said the chances of another one of those five being in Austria if asked last week?

I didn't know about the first one in Austria, but if I did I'd probably have said slim enough!

This is the most disturbing thing I've ever heard of. It's just wrong on so many levels. And it's impossible to find a punishment that fits the crimes. :(
