    Hello again..
well it takes ages before you get on the laddder so to speak and it has many rungs before you get to the top ... as in getting into to force..
out of every 1000 people who apply only 20 make the grade... so its a case of perseverence and running the course and getting through the interviews and tests..
    all the best...
    celtic volunteer...

It depends on what area you are in, if there is only one person in a county they would wait for one or 2 more as the 56 hours are at a local station and if it is for one, it is expensive as the trainers could be on overtime, but if you had interview in feb and have not started the backround checks yet it will be at least a few more months before a possible start.

Well i waited almost 3 months to hear anything when i passed my interview for the FT Garda , so you could be expecting a long wait also.

Yeah I think they are getting quicker with the process. I applied 3 weeks ago and I have an interview this Wednesday. What should you wear for the interview??

Doesn't have to be a suit as such just dress smart whether for you that's a suit or shirt, tie, trousers etc and the two people i.e (The superintendent and the woman from public appointments) I had my interview with weren't dressed smart at all they were in very casual clothes and I saw a good few people on the same day I was doing mine in smart but casual type clothes so I don't think that they really care what you turn up in (within reason of course) ;)

make sure ure eyesight is up to scratch otherwise you may fail the medical, a friend of mine did after getting by the interview and exam. The interview is fine, very like the application form you fill out and the exam is a report on an incident stating facts only. its handy enough. Good luck!

there are no reserves in my district as far as i know, can i still be recruited?

whats the wait from application to interview like?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 109 ✭✭karlokarl

Hey shakin, yep you can be recruited. They're looking for applicants from all over Ireland! As I said in the previous page, I applied on the 16th of last month and have an interview tomorrow...don't know if they are always that quick though as people have been waiting for months just for an interview.
