Thanks a mill lads for the info. Got it working at last, the last piece of the puzzle!!
Can some mods put this info into the sticky at the top as this seems to be a very common problem.

Make sure you have the latest version of Swirly installed. Version 3.7 is the only one that can receive messages here. There was a problem in all earlier versions with receiving in Ireland.

When you receive a message your phone beeps then you open Swirly and you will see the fetch button.
To view the message you then nee to open Preview and push the open button. Finder will open and you need to push the ~ button on the top right. Go into Media, then MMSFiles then you should see the MMS messages. Push the one you want to open.

Thanks for the quick reply, but it's still not working :(
I can send mms' without a problem but I'm still not getting the fetch message fro receiving mms'.
I have Swirly v.3.8 installed and have all the settings:
    mmsc: mms.mymeteor.ie
    proxy: 010.085.085.085:8799
    apn: mms.mymeteor.ie
    username: my
    password: meteor
    image size: medium

The only other thing that I figure could be related is that I don't have edge set up yet (should kick in on the 3rd) but seeing as I can send no problem and the apn is set to mms.mymeteor.ie rather than isp.mymeteor.ie I don't really see why this would be an issue.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated as I miss my mmsing!

Same as myself I can send MMS but not receive. Ive tried isp. and mms. for the APN but still no luck.

Anyone receive MMS on meteor yet?

yeah they provide it. you may have to call support to enable isp internet access on your account. watch out if you're on payg or if you don't have a data package on bill pay as you'll be charged a fortune.

i'm not sure why you can't receive using those settings as they work fine for me. have you ever used mms on that sim card?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6 Smyles

I called to get isp access turned on the other day and have a data package. It's not anywhere near as slow as I was expecting btw!! Anyway, I used to constantly send mms' with the same sim card in my old phones (maybe 10 a day) so it's not a problem with my account. I've tried exactly the same settings as you have but no luck :( It's getting really annoying now....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,176 ✭✭✭vinnycoyne

I'm not sure what's going on so. I'm using swirlymms 0.3.8, I don't know how well other versions work

It works for me the above settings for Meteor!

When I press Fetch(1) it fails... then I press it maybe 3 or 4 times and eventually it works!

    hi,
just did all steps with swirly and the mms goes now and then, not all the time. Specially when sent abroad i get failure (tr) and sometimes within Ireland also.
Does anyone have the same problem?
    Have I done anything wrong?
    I am o2
    Many thanks,

    Malu

    Swirly

    v1.0 is in the pipe...
iPhonePosted by Tommy Svensson 2008-04-09 17:59:35
    Hi all Swirly users!

Since we get several emails asking the same thing we will answer you all here. And the answer is yes, we are now in the phase of putting together the big 1.0-release, which delivers loads of new and improved features!

With this release, we will bring you an easy-to-use user-interface, inspired by the mail application, which allows you to navigate through your received and sent multi-media messages.

Speaking of multi-media, in this release you will not be limited to send and receive images - you will be able to send and receive images, text, audio and video.

You will be able to send and receive messages containing multiple multi-media parts. For example you can send an image together with a long text in the same message.

We will provide a built-in media viewer so that you can easily view your messages from within SwirlyMMS.

You can easily reply to, or forward the message and you will be able to select multiple recipients.

You will be able to save a multi-media item to a file of your choice.

To send a photo, you will be able to select it, not only from your camera roll but also from your synched photo library or use the built-in file browser to pick any file.

Also, you will be able to take a photo with the camera from within SwirlyMMS and send it right away.

To help you configure the application with the MMS settings, we have developed a package which handles settings delivered over-the-air!

So, you may think that all this sounds pretty good, but of course you still wonder: when will a version that includes all these features be released? And the answer on that is: hopefully within, hmmm... maybe three-four weeks.

    /Tommy&Mats

    PS.
We will publish a couple of screenshots really soon. Stay tuned!
    DS.
    PS2.
We have plans on adding really cool and useful features in the next forthcoming releases :-)
    DS2.

    Brilliant news!! Taken from http://blog.swirlyspace.com/

    Hi,

Thanks for the help so far with this.

I have everything installed and two MMS waiting in Swirly but when I try to Fetch them it reads:

failed to connect to proxy: unable to locate host
    Could not fetch any MMS
    Check your settings!

I've checked and they all appear to be in order.

Anybody know what the problem might be or how to solve it?

    I'm on Meteor.

    Thanks!

Okay I have the exact O2 Billpay settings as posted here, I have an O2 Ireland iPhone with 1.1.4 Firmware, Jailbroken, Newest Version of Swirlymms but I continue to get this error :

    Failed to send MMS
The network reported: service denied (pe)

I have checked and MMS is enabled on my account.

Can someone who is on O2 Billpay Ireland post the exact settings they are using to get this working ?

i'm in the same boat...would like a solution aswell...

First uninstall the old version from your phone. Then install the new one. Restart your phone completely after the install (i.e. hold the top button for a few seconds) when you restart it should work.

Then if you are with O2 bill pay go here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055254749
    for the settings to use.

You have to wait for the M symbol beside the battery indicator to turn green when your in SwirlyMMS for it to work.

Works for me. You will also have to install two other packages from installer to view received mms. MobileFinder and MobilePreview. Make sure you install Finder first and the one by Ste not by iClarified as for some reason Preview doesn't recognise it.

I am at 1.1.4 and this works for me but you must have the latest version.

I have the settings as suggested and version 0.3.8 and I keep getting the message "The network reported: service denied (pe)"..... any suggestions?

Hi I'm using version 1.0 now and its brilliant but I still can't receive. Instead I get a text message pointing me to mymeteor.ie. I have sent mms from this sim before btw and I am using the above meteor settings. What am I missing here? It will send no problem.

Log in to MyMeteor.ie and click on Download Settings. If your phone is listed as an iPhone, try changing it to a phone you know has MMS. I think Meteor might be disabling MMS for iPhone users because this happened to me but started working again once i switched mobiles. My account still shows my old phone (Nokia 6103).

By the way the new SwirlyMMS is great.

What do you mean exactly? As in just change my phone on mymeteor or do you mean you swapped over to your old phone physically? I have been trying to get the settings on the meteor site but theres no options for any phones in the drop down box on safari, firefox or IE for me? Is the page down maybe?

Are you using the standard settings? If I ring meteor would they help or tell me to go elsewhere. I'm on meteor bill.

Sorry just checked there. The page worked and I got settings sent to swirlymms. However some details were slightly different

    mmsc : http://mms.mymeteor.ie
    proxy: 10.85.85.85:8799 (notice no 0's)
    APN: mms.mymeteor.ie
    user: my
    pass: mms

Meteor were doing a lot of work on the website yesterday, so the page was probably just acting up.

What I meant earlier is that you can just change your handset type on the website.

I hope you got it working anyway.

I actually haven't managed to get it working and my trial has ran out so not sure to buy it or not. Could it be that it keeps showing up my iphone on the meteor site and that they're blocking mms on it? I just can't receive any fetch notice or anything. Its driving me mad!

    apn: mms.mymeteor.ie
    username: my

Swirly MMS now available on Cydia for firmware 2.x

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 327 ✭✭sombaht

Hi, I'm using SwirlyMMS 1.1.4 on jailbroken iPhone (1.1.4). I was able to send/receive MMS using the following settings

    MMSC. http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002
    Proxy. 62.40.32.40:8080
    APN. pp.wap.o2.ie
    Username. gprs
    Password. gprs

But recently it stopped working and now all I get when I try to send an MMS is
    Failed to send MMS
The network reported: service denied (pe)

Have the settings changed recently for O2 PAYG?

    Cheers,
    sombaht
