Yeah it was tough enough the worst thing is the waiting around not knowing what is happening,If it was not for the boards i think most off us would not have a clue what was going on.

Does any one know when tattoos are meant to be checked? I thought this would have been done at the medical. Have a tattoo on my forearm and was unsure if it would be accepted due to size. Can i take it all is well now i am finished with the medical?? Another question i have about the medical was why was there no blood test?? Found that very strange, is this to be done at a later date??

    alright jim,
yeah i thought they might have done a blood test aswell, i was actually expecting it!!
maybe thats done prior to starting training..
my heads wrecked now waiting, its a serious test of patients, isnt it!! will you need a deferment or are you ready to go??
you ringing gs directly or you gonna ring psni??
looks like were both in the same boat now and could possibly be gettin the call around the same time??? what you reckon?

Ps. this website is a god send!!
fair play to all ye people who answer all the millions of questions..

well had my laser eye surgery yesterday. then had a follow up appointment today and could read the 20/20 line on the chart were as before i couldnt read the top line:D and i still have protective lens in so my vision will get better when they come out aswell. so im pretty pleased so far anyway.

just have to hope that i dont get called for a medical within the next 6 weeks now.

also got my date for campaign 14. anyone who hasnt got a date yet just remember that it all depends on where you live aswell. Consensia have to book the venues so it just depends on things like that. i applied on day1 and test isnt until may 15th. everyone will get a date eventually

    alright ed,
one more last bit of advice..
start your training now, because the more you say "ill start 2moro".. the harder it gets and believe me 2moro will never come!!
ps. shell suits??? showing your age now... only messing! enjoy

Yup, got the number a few weeks ago, before the medical. They didn't seem to mind me calling and were quite pleasant. Another question, anyone any idea what kind of score is required from the a/c to get on the HPD scheme? Or is it done like that? Its not really clear from the consensia site if entry to the HPD happens before training begins as a result of the A/C, or if the A/C score is added to scores in training, or if its just based on training results alone? Probably getting ahead of myself here, but what the hell...:D

Yeah had too there is no way i could have held out, but from what people are saying if you are being vetted and given a med you will be offered a place.

Not clear myself on this one. There's more info at http://www.policecouldyou.co.uk/officers/hpds/overview.html which seems to suggest HPD scheme's on hold for the time being because it's under review. But I'll just be concentrating on passing the training. The rest will take care of itself hopefully!

Why is it worrying you?? its not neccessary to have one.

don't have one myself (getting there!)

shouldn't bare any influence on selection i reckon

Although it's not a requirement i just think it seems essential for the job - even for simply getting to the station where you have been posted. I would assume that with shift work public transport isn't always going to be guaranteed :(

Initially i was under the impression that if you did not hold one then you would earn a driving license by completing and successfully passing the 4 week driving training as a standard part of training - but it would appear that this is not the case.

Yeah understand now. Well you still have a least 8 months to get one,you could take lessons at weekends or in the evenings after the first month.
