to what extent is a day's rest needed?

    Hi guys!

    Just wondering is there any way that working out the same muscle groups a day would be recomended?I'm a novice so id stick to main exercises like military press,barbell curls pushups and chinups.Would it be advisable that i can do this every day?I should add that the weights im using aren't high i'm just using high intensity and reps.thanks.

    You can do a greasing the groove technique (GTG), probably suitable for those 3 exercises, but you should really be doing more than those 3. GTG is really for more weight though, I would advise getting more weights

    I'd say at a novice level and geared towards high reps, you wouldn't really even need a rest day as such.

    I lift (relatively) heavy and often do the same muscles 2x days in a row, and then not again for a week, it depends what sort of time I have available. Never impeded me from a progress point of view anyway, I think the technical science behind nutrition and technique is vastly overrated and only corresponds worthwhile to those that are bordering on plateau at the really advanced levels.

    Can you post your routine please? Then we can let you know if it will be productive or not.

    High intensity is a term used quite a lot, and often erroneously. Intensity in weights is a percentage of your maximal capacity (1RM).

    -Barbell curls are not a main exercise, they're an assistance exercise
