Bulmer's ads

I'm not much of a television watcher, but do sit myself down for the odd match or two and it's fair to think there would be ads of a certain kind thrown in for a certain market, but does anyone find that the bulmers ads tend to be on all the time, outside a selling market time too. But it's not just the cloying 'good-natured' times the ads try to depict, but the songs. Nothing wrong with the songs as such(I'm a Zombies and Kinks fan) but the amount of times they're played can ruin it somewhat. And as for that Steve Earle Galway girl song I think it's terribly annoying. Within the space of an hour or two a song you'd not thought much about can seem to drive you crazy. I'm sure I'll be told that I should turn my television off. Fair enough. But does anyone find there ads galling and get right to the heart of you.

The fact that you are on here right now talkig to others shows that their advertising strategy has worked. Whether you find it pleasant or annoying.

There's no such thing as bad publicity as they say.

Not exactly, in most cases advertising is used to get people to buy your products. If the adverts make you think of the product in a negative way then it could prevent you from purchasing said product. You may also put other people off the product because of that ad. Not really a good thing for the company.

Yes, Op may find it annoying, but by talking to other people about the product, it reinforces the existence of the product in other peoples minds.

Reinforcement is one type of advertising. There are many types and advertising is not restricted to informing the public about a product. It also includes reinforcement of brands in people who are already aware of the product.

Can't remember his name, but there was a CEO of the largest high-street jewellers in the UK who jokingly referred to his own merchandise as cheap and tacky. The story made all the papers. However, Sales plummeted by 70% and he was duly given the sack.

In the Spitzer case, his inevitable book will sell far more now that he's been involved in a seacs scandal. Also his wife is sticking by him prompting the whole Billary comparisons. The pair of them will make a small fortune of the back of this.

The CEO of Bostik once referred to a line of his products as cheap and tacky too but nobody complained

This was a man who was touted as being a future Democratic presidential nominee, who's political and public service carear is in tatters, and will forever be tarnished.

He's already worth a ton as his farther was a New York real estate mogul, so I don't think a few extra book sales are any consolation.

The Dems still love Clinton after his exploits and the fact that Spitzer spends such lavish amounts on a hooker will only endear him to the Republicans too. As to your second point, a lot of people can never have enough money. I reckon seacs scandals for politicians are the equivalent of rock stars going to rehab. It only makes you cooler.

Yeah but Big Willy didn't break the law, Eliot did, and you're never going to get elected with that sort of mud. Even had Bill been able to run for a 3rd campaign I guarantee you he would have lost, by a big margin.

Fair enough Spitzer broke the law and he wouldn't be electable I suppose. But riddle me this, if Slick Willy had been able to run for a 3rd term how can you guarantee me he would have lost? Crystal ball or tarot cards?

You might not remember this but about 15 years ago it was nigh on impossible to purchase bulmers on draught in pubs. I could count the number of pubs (that i liked) that had taps of it on one hand. There was no such thing as any other type of bottle of bulmers other than a flagon and its image and brand perception were in the toilet.

Marketing and advertising alone changed that. Like them or loathe them, those ads work :P

Oh I'm sure advertising did wonders for them. I'm not saying advertising doesn't work, I'm say that there is a such thing as bad publicity. If there advertisements said that there ceo and shareholders were murderers and rapists I doubt they'd be as big as they are now.
