I'm not too pushed on MP3 releases for some reason, think I prefer to have something physical for my money - I have a thing for these 'Digipak' CD cases at the moment, the artwork looks so much better than a sleeve in a jewel case. Also, you can't beat the sound of Vinyl or CD, especially on a decent system.

Don't know that Richard Devine release, must look into... sounds like my cup of tea alright.

Another that I am really diggin at the moment is Amon Tobin. I had only bought his most recent album but I picked up 'Out From Out Where' the other day and what a fantastic album. Must check out more from him.

    Excellent tune(s) from the album...

    Clip from documentary with Amon...

Reckon I'll be tracking down all of his albums.

Off topic I go as always :o

Got the new Autechre album yesterday but only got as far as about the 3rd track due to the wife complaining about it! Will have a listen on my own later hopefully. Anyone else get it yet? In HMV for €16.99

Went to see them in Melkweg on Thursday, the music was great, but 2 major major gripes that kinda ruined my evening. first of all, they only played for an hour, but that that didn't matter too much, cause it's amsterdam, and most support acts here would warrant a night out on their own standing in Ireland. Second of all, the Autechre show was in total darkness, i.e. no lights, no lasers, no nothing for that hour, just two little green lights were they were playing. I don't really know what they (or the lights people) were trying to do, but it just slowed people down and pissed them off more than anything, everyone i talked to thought the same thing. Still, what they played was great, some of it really was very 'wow' even though the atmosphere was a bit mute. Don't have the new album so i don't know if they played any of it, but i didn't recognise anything they did play, although i did like it. there ya go, one vague review, :D

Thats a great album, Supermodified is great too. I've been told Foley Room is worth checking out too (thread here somewhere?)

I saw Autechre in the TBMC a couple of years ago and had the same impression tbh. I think the no lighting thing is intended to help the audience focus on the music but I'm not sure how well that worked. I found myself staring at the pair of them wondering what they were doing more that I usually would have! Live Autechre aint really my cup of tea I suppose.

Yeah Foley Room is excellent, I must get some more from him.

Well, Autechre...hmmm. I like it, I think. I need to give it some more listens as it is definitely hard on the ears at times but I liked it at the same time. There are some really good moments and then others where I felt like skipping the track. As I say though, I need to listen more before final judgement :)

My copy arrived yesterday, I've only had a chance to listen to the bonus disc so far. I like what's on that, some of it is very easy to listen to and some of it has that abstract Untilted vibe. More on the album proper soon.

I have to say I'm impressed with this album. Some of it is a bit bland but most of it doesn't sound like Autechre, it sounds a bit more sedate and ambient. I prefer this to the last couple of albums. Anyone else listen to it yet?

And as an aside, the special edition is going for ridiculous money on eBay (I paid £31.50 including postage from Warp).

I still haven't given this a proper listen really. I am mainly listening to old techno and IDM at the moment and can't really tune into the likes of this for now anyway.

Some minimal techno winging its way to me from boomkat.com and I can't wait.

Both above probably more suited to dance/eletronic forum but I think some of the lot frequenting here should dig it too :)

One for certain could be deemed experimental even though it is minimal/dub techno is this gem from Deep Chord -

...this is a must have album, fantastic.
