    Hi,
This might sound bad but I've had a bad year and went to my GP to discuss off, my own bat, in order to learn how to deal with stress. He wants this disclosed do you think I should forget it now? Let me know anyone in the same boat or anyone that knows the stance on this part of the medical.

    Hey,

What do you mean when you say your GP wants this disclosed? In laymans view i'd say stress would have no impact on your recruitment chances because everyone has to deal with stress and the fact that you went looking for help may even look good but, depression may be different so if it was just stress then there should be no problem!

Hello all, sorry if my next question has already been answered, I've been away from this forum for a while!!
I was declared medically fit and passed vetting in the last campaign but wasn't selected from the merit pool (I dare not ask what my number must have been!!)
I have now applied to the new campaign , if I am successfull in the IST and AC will I have to undergo vetting and medical again?

    Thanks in advance, Neil

    hi

posted a while ago re pca following failed medical - went to garnerville today for pca. apparently the main purpose of this particular exercise was to gather as much info as poss relating to our fitness to proceed, and that the 3mins 43secs timing, whilst important, wasn't key in terms of deciding whether someone should proceed.

I was a few seconds out due to making 2 mistakes, but push pull was fine, so I'm working on the hope that the time I got can be improved upon with extra work and development during officer training.

Has anyone any thoughts or knowledge of this?

    Thanks

Ismise69, hope you dont mind me asking, what was your total score from the assessment centre? Judging from previous years 50 points or higher is propably enough for a place. Though religous backgrounds does come into it as well.

Hello, another newbie calling!:p I just have no idea where I stand at the mo (whats new-for all of us?!) Basically, I am a female R/C with score 55/70 and position bw 200/220 on merit list. Passed my medical about 2weeks ago but am still waiting on my vetting. I have 3 overseas entries (grr to being the youngest and having travelling sibs!) 2 in England and 1 in Aussie!? I haven't got vetting clearing yet and when I asked if it would ever take sooo long to come back it would deny me a place this year-recruitment said they have to keep a place if I was high enough up in the list...would anyone be able to stab a guess if I would be 'high enough up in the list' in the event my vetting DID take ages??

Im not 100 % sure how they work intakes, For example I thought i was out of this campaign with a high merit position, but I have just got vetting much to my surprise. with your position and your background I think you should be fine.

Hi, with that number in the pool and being r/c you will be offered a place, providing you past vetting,if you read back from earlier posts psni said it took nearly a year for this vetting to come through. So your place will be held for you.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭uncleneilly

blondiecop,im in a similar position in merit pool to you and also r/c,passed my medical in jan but also waiting on vetting clearance(apparently can take up to a year)was also told by recruitment if i was high enough in merit pool i would be offered a place even if it took a year, also this years intake 1s 440 so thats 220 from each community,so if you consider people in 500`s and 700`s hundreds from r/c are being offered places at minute then all being well with vetting you should be guaranteed to get in

Ethan, scored 58/70 on the tests, which what i'm told is pretty good. still not too sure where that puts me in the "pool", my background is RC, so not too sure if that will place me higher again, but i'm sure its a 50-50 basis regardless of scores. all i have to do now is play the waiting game, the medical was fine, first off was urine sample, then brought in to see the nurse(or doctor) checked vision, lung capacity, and ears, asked various medical history background questions, then went in to the hearing test room, then had to wait the see the doc, made me walk up and down(checking for flat feet??) blood pressure, lungs, heart, eyes & hearing check, also checked my flexibility, i think he was impressed by that, placed the palms of my hands right under my feet with my head pretty much touching my knees, the years of martial arts has paid off. :)
and that was it i thing.. oh yeah.. he also checked my joints. then said i was fit for service *delighted* roll on the vetting :)

    Hello all,

As previously mentioned anyone from a RC background is in with a shot provided they pass the medical and vetting. Well when I say anyone we at least know of confirmed places in the 700’s, my partner being one.

She found out by telephone so I guess anyone starting on the next intake would have been called by now. Be patient, at this stage you’ll pretty much know if you’re going to get in so it’s just a waiting game.

    Martin.

How Long Was It From You Appealed To Getting The Date For Your Pca Test

    Cheers

thanks guys! I had read the post from psni where his vetting took a year but I think I'm getting confused and wondering:- if my vetting wasn't back within a certain time, do they have a cut off point and stop recruitng people from this campaign-ie would it ever be the case that my position would expire whilst waiting on vetting? I'm thinking I'm just going to apply again to stay completely on the safe side..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 144 ✭✭jim2008

    Bondiecop
Dont worry if it does go over this campaign you will be offered a place in the next campaign. No need for you to reapply as i said with that place in the pool you are in :D

Did he tell you on the day that you were fit for service? I asked, but was told that he couldn't tell me, am now slightly worried that maybe there was a problem I don't know about... Had the medical last Friday, no word yet...:o

fiacamar,i was surprised to hear ismise69(well done) being told on the day they were fit for service as it says you wont be told this,i waited about 3 or 4 weeks b4 hearing(over christmas holidays)so wouldn`t worry too much as this doesn`t seem to be the norm

yeah.. he just done the various tests, and he basically just said "i have found nothing wrong and deem you fit for service" maybe he's after breaking the rules a lil :)
