Are O2 even selling the N95?

ya the nokia 6500 slide went off the 3 website for a while when it ran out of stock but its back now

hopefully the N95 will be back soon aswel

And cheaper too I hope or I'm out the gap as far as 3 are concerned! Bloody UK/Indian call centers are head-wrecking.
O2 do have the n95, not cheap tho, 329 on €35 /m package. Don't ask me why but I just have a thing against O2 - could be to do with Brian O'Driscoll!! I'll have to swallow my pride and crawl back to Vodafone.
Anyone know how Vodafone are with regard to general internet access? I'm paying 3 about 5 quid a month for 100mb which I can use with my laptop too, handy for email. bad value but handy.

The one I bought yesterday was and I haven't heard of any that aren't.

I just bought one today in the Vodafone store in Liffey Valley and it is Vodafone branded and I assume it is locked too :( Anyone know If I bring it to a nokia service store will they unbrand it without voiding the warranty?

Vodafone have the special offer for the phone, don't know about carphone warehouse.

you dont need your O2 bill to change networks, all you need is any utility bill i.e ESB, Bank Statement etc & drinving licence or passport.

    hope this helps

    happy shopping!!

Wrong, moving post pay to postpay he will need his last o2 bill, plus proof of address (less than three months old), plus photo i.d.

upgraded in CPW today for 179. (PC 200)

god i was sick to my stomach when i saw the ad for this in the paper today.

    https://www.vodafone.ie/df/paymonthly/new/index.jsp?handset=N95BK&offerSelected=postpaidnew&action=view

to think that only 2 months ago i forked out €339 n now they go off n just slash it to half price. ****ers. i know im not the only one whos in this boat.

think i mite persuade the mother to get an upgrade n get this n then sell it off to make up for the hardship ha ha.

any ideas how long this is gonna stay at this price??

looks like Vodafone online are out of stock of the N95 8GB...not surprising really, but anyone know how long it might take them to get them back in to stock?

I'd go to a shop, only for i want to get the 20% extra talk and text from buying online......oh on that, is that +20% forever?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 522 ✭✭✭Alfie1

AFAIK the 20% extra offer finished in february

Ok, I would definitely go for one of these if I hadn't just shelled out for a new phone recently. I reckon I'll stall it 'til the n96 is available and get one of them just before Christmas.

old stock of the 8gb will have spider man and free sub to maps and unlocked an unbranded

Newer stock will have spider man only and are unlocked and voda "themed"

Newest stock come in a new multicoloured box. Not sure if they're locked.

    Hope this helps.

I know years ago on Vodafone you could buy a phone on perfect choice 400 say, and then get a cheaper phone. Then a month or two in to your contract, change your plan to a cheaper one if you wanted. Is this still possible?

I'm only wondering because I need one of the higher plans now, but it's possible that a few months down the road I won't need the higher plan.

So just wondering should I avail of the cheaper phone now?

Got the 8gb version today from Vodafone in Cork, Carphone Warehouse also have a supply, it is locked, cost 229€, Perfect Choice 50, 500 MB per month €9.99 extra

Found this comparison between it and the old N97 interesting
    http://www.intomobile.com/2007/11/05/video-nokia-n95-vs-n95-8gb.html

3 have withdrawn their stock of old n95's and will be offering the 8gb version in the future but their pricing looks way over the top (had planned to buy the ku990 Viewty from them until I saw the 8gb offer and the improvements it had over the very good original one)

Is the GPS mapping an extra on the N95, maybe somebody would comment

The maps are free but you pay for the navigation - 2.99 for 1 day/8.99 for a week/etc. Recommend you head over to Nokia Beta Labs and download the beta version of the new Nokia Maps app, big improvment.

How is the branding on the new stock, does it have vodafone written on the chassis? Is the software altered much from the stock version?

just ordered my N95 8GB from Vodafone....well I did at 11am this morning hoping that they would live up to their 24 hours delivery promise. No word from them all day, so I call to see what's up. They said it will be processed tomorrow and delivered on Thursday, when it should have been processed today for delivery tomorrow.

Bad start for my return to Vodafone. The gimps.

I'm about to take the plunge in getting one as an upgrade.

I noticed the price from Carphone Warehouse is cheaper by €20-30 depending on the price plan. I almost signed up with them when I realised the insurance with them costs €14/month. In contrast vodafone charges €5.99/month for their insurance.

Am I correct here or am I missing something? Is it possible to get the phone from CPW and insure it with vodafone?

Which one will it be? Vodafone online? retail shops? Carphone Warehouse?

    cheers

You can insure it at CPW using voda insurance if you insist on it, but CPW will try and sell you their own insurance, but the CPW insurance is better than voda's anyway, which is why its more expensive.

in what way is CPW insurance better? I couldn't find enough info on the vodafone brand insurance.

Can the firmware on these vodafone-branded N95s be updated to the latest (generic) Nokia firmware using the Nokia Software Updater? Or does it just check for the latest vodafone firmware?

I was talking to a salesman in vodafone today and he maintained that I could easily update the firmware to the latest nokia version. He had done just that with his own (he upgraded from ver 10.x to 15.x). Is this all that's required to revert to standard?
