i think app support is the main one and after that its just what you want to install yourself

hi all looking for some advice.

i currently have an iphone 1.1.2. bought in america before christmas. i unlocked it using iclarified.com. phone is now unlocked and working perfectly (except i still cant send or receive picture messages!!). anyway, i was wondering if its worth me updating it to 1.1.3. as all i'm reading is people having problems when they do this. anyone do this already and find its worth it?

Cheers Amanda. What is the exact need for App Support?

Oh.. and what's the SSH client for iPhone? Is it SSH?

SSH stands for Secure Shell and is a protocol that allows you to execute commands on your touch (like in the terminal on a mac or the command line of windows).

i think appsupport just makes everything work on 1.1.3, i updated the other day and everything is working perfectly, youtube, safari etc.. the ssh is for using the terminal on the iphone(i think) it lets you add / remove/replace folders if they dont install etc

Sorry.. mistyped my question. I want to know the name of the client for iPhone - is it SSHOpen?

Ahhhh.. everything on mine is working as far as I know. But mine was a fresh unlock into 1.1.3 - no upgrading. Might be the difference in performing an upgrade.

And cheers for the lists Gr1f.

    Hey,

I'm looking to see where the cheapest place to get Iphones?

I've had a look around ebay but they seem a bit pricey at 500e for 8gb

That appears to be the going rate, free market etc :-)

BTW I've seen them for €700 on Buy and Sell!

    Yeah its openssh

Make sure you put bsd subsystem on as well

Appsupport fixed the SMS coming in as 353 8* ******* and not being recognized as a contact

Yeah, i downloaded BSD Subsystem first thing as it wouldn't let me install anything without it. Oh and i did download AppSupport 1.1.3 (or something like that) last night alright as someone mentioned earlier in the thread about it fixing the Contacts problem.

While I'm here, what's the story with developing for the iPhone? I mean, I know there's no SDK available as of yet but how are some of these third-party applications (and games) being written? I was about to plunge into work on an application this evening to send your free webtexts from your account on O2 / Vodafone / Meteor (over Wi-Fi or EDGE).

    sounds cool. here's a sdk link: http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2007/09/19/the-unofficial-iphone-sdk-guide-to-writing-native-iphone-applications/

haven't used it but let us know how you get on.

Ok install iphone browser on your PC and transfer the installer files over onto the phone

Have you tried to refresh the resources after you open the installer

The phone automatically tries to refresh sources but always returns an error.

I've installed iphone browser but I've no idea how to use it or what exactly I'm supposed to transfer.

I'm in Dublin tomorrow. I'll pay anyone to to sort this out for me.

Two methods I have tried without success.

    Method 1:

Restored to 1.1.3 and used ziphone 2.4 but then can't install the BSD subystem. Usually the status bar stays blank and nothing happens. Once it gor three quarters the way across then fell over with error. Sometimes I can install community sources, sometimes I can't. I can't reinstall the installer and I cannot refresh sources.

    Method 2:

Went back to 1.1.1. For some reason I always have to do this twice because ibrickr returns a green screen the first time. Tried to install appsnap. First time this wouldn't work I reconnected to iTunes and shut it down then appsnap would install, but now this solution won't work for some reason, and anyway when it did appear to install none of the applications appeared in installer.

i dont know if this will work for you NickyOD but when i was going the downgrade to 1.1.1 and upgrade to 1.1.2 route the only way it worked successfully for me was to reboot my Mac Mini between each change in firmware. i tried numerous different strategies and that was the only way i was able to do it without getting the wrong errors. one more thing is to enable mac address filtering on your wireless router and put in the mac address of your iPhone. the router will always see the phone after that and you should get a proper connection for downloading sources.

    I'm using a windowns laptop.

Mac address reservation sounds like a good idea I will try that.

hi all I am just wondering I have a 1.1.2 OTB but have updated to 1.1.3 thanks to cdebru who is a computer whizz unlike myself and I was just wondering if there is another app other than sendsong for using iPod songs as ringtones as u had this installed but it doesn't work...it allows me to pick a song and set it as a ringtone but when the phone rings it only vibrates cheers guys in advance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 923 ✭✭✭higster

Have a 1.1.2 (3B48b) with 04.02.13_G modem firmware jailbroken bought in the US phone that has been working grand on O2 (with one of those x sim cards on the back of my O2 sim card) for the last few weeks (and it took me some time to get there).

Now I'm getting a "No Service" followed by "No SIM card Installed" error which I'm presuming that means by sim and xsim cards are out of alignment (even though didn't go anywhere near them).

So rather than try and get the 2 cards aligned right think might get me a new O2 card and upgrade to 1.1.3 (where I don't need the x sim...right?)

But I'm also totally confused reading previous posts on how to actually upgrade to 1.1.3 easily and without hassle. Any really good (and easy to follow) guides out there? Is this a good one to use? http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=667

No but there is a way to make sendsong work

Sendsong only works with songs in the M4A format

If you convert the song you want as a ringtone to M4A

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93123

Use the AAC encoder you will end up with 2 copies of the same song sync the new M4A version then use sendsong to make the song a Ringtone

    Hi CD,

I am sorry about this Question, I know you've answered it all ready, but i'm really worried about making the update to 1.1.3 because of all the issue which have been reported, However i'm going to make the upgrade today and want to confirm the following.

My Phone is working perfectly, its on 1.1.1 , with firmware 04.01.13.G
    Question:
1 ) do I have to have to upgrade or downgrade the baseband ?. If so when / how,
2 ) I will use OK TO PREP to upgrade to 1.1.2, Is there anything additional i need to do at this stage ?.
3 ) I plan to use ZiPhone to move from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3, can you confirm what selection I need to run on ZiPhone 2.4 .

Thanks so much for your help, I've been following this chat for the past 4 months and i'm sure everyone will agree that your help is greatly appreciated.

    phil

Just connect it to Itunes and upgrade it to 1.1.3 that will update the baseband for you

Before you do uninstall any apps you have installed except BSD and Installer make sure they are updated to latest versions

You do not have to install OKtoprep or update to 1.1.3 first

Just use Ziphone then to Jailbreak Activate and Unlock

    reinstall bsd subsystem

Then install app support 1.1.3 in the installer

possible problems after Ziphone you lose all sound just reset all settings to fix

You tube does not work use the fix on the installer

You can always uninstall iworld once it has been run you don't need it anymore unless you reinstall the OS

    Yes you can uninstall SSH

Just put it back on when you are finished

    Have you got a signal

Just seen that the windows Ziphone 2.4 GUI downgrades the bootloader to 3.9 on 4.6 BL phones some people are reporting that they are not getting a signal

It appears to be a fault with the WINDOWS 2.4 GUI the mac gui does not do this in fact the mac GUI does not support bootloader downgrade at all.

If your phone is 1.1.2otb or 1.1.3 otb DO NOT USE ZIPHONE 2.4 GUI WINDOWS unless you want to risk the downgrade to your bootloader

The good news is that there is a fix if you are still without a signal Higster you unfortunately have to go back to 1.1.1 and unlock there

There is a baseband downgrader in the installer

Just check and see what baseband you are on first
