The amount of people who went for inter surprised me, Liverpool's form in the premiership has been crap but they always up it for the champions league and particularly in Anfield. There was only one team playing to create chances, the only bad thing is they missed so many. Hyypia, Torres, Babel and Crouch all quilty of poor efforts in front of goal. I'm expecting a tense return leg, but if they nick one along the way it should make it easier.

Does that not piss you off immensely as a pool fan to only have your players 'up for it' when it comes to massive european games?

This is exactly why Benitez has no place at a club with Liverpools ambition. You'll never win the league if it take a visit from Inter Milan to get your players 'up for it'.

It's something that has been true before Benitez came. :) They perform well in Europe. There have definitely been players that have only shone in European action[i'm looking at you Garcia] Tbh I couldn't care less about the league. As for Benitez, he might survive the season with a good showing in Europe.

Apart from one post their was a deafening silence all round (including the media) regarding Torres's dive. It's probably because he is English when Liverpool play in Europe. I know Materrazi touched his shoulder but he threw himself to the ground, much worse than say Ronaldo did when he got crucified for being fouled against Middlesborough.
Typical double standards if Torres had done the same in the premiership there would have been an outcry.

Is there any video of this online at all?

just after the 1:30 mark, first one now that I see it looks nothing. The second one deserved, his hand is on his shoulder holding him back it's clear he has been done for pace. First one not a yellow, second one is.

Right, Torres had Materazzi absolutely raped for pace.

The first yellow was harsh, imo, but Materazzi was a fool for comitting the foul out there in the first place.

He was an even bigger fool for comitting the very same foul, that he had already been booked for, a second time.

    I don't think Torres dived.

Ok then. I DO think Torres dived. The cheating fecker. :p

Materrazi touched his shoulder of that there is no doubt, but then he flung himself to the ground to get his opponent sent of. People(especially the English media) seem to think this is ok because it's Liverpool v the Italian champions in the CL. But if Torres did in the premiership he'd be one of those cheating bloody foreigners.
'It's ok to it because he one of ours' doesn't mean it's right.

Last night goals mean Liverpool has now scored 516 in european competition, 281 of them in European Cup.

Why were TV3 advertising Setanta's coverage of the CL on their sports bulletin a few minutes ago.

That's gotta be 4-4-2 from ARsenal no? Maybe Hleb dropping into the middle, with Eboue on the right Eduardo on the left?

    Who knows.

I'm a little surprised to see Pato start on his own in attack. Obviously he'll get support from Kaka and co, but I would have thought Gilardino would start with Pato being used as an impact sub.

Souness just said on SkySports that in 1992 when he was managing Liverpool after a Europe game in Auxerre Platini knocked on his dressing room door and offered him a player that was having some troubles in the domestic French game. Souness declined because he was having troubles of his own and the last thing he needed was another potential disruptive influence. The player....

ERIC CANTONA:eek:....Oh, what might have been for liverpool fans:D

That was the easiest pass for Adebayor to put Eduardo in there, should have been a goal.

Ive missed the first half of all these games. Which one should I tune into for the second ? Im thinking Ac Milan v Arsenal.

bit of a worry that, hope it is not too serious, that said Big Phil has done very well, just hope Toure is not going to be out long, we need all our players fit.

Very frustrating listening to the Setanta commentators about Naka. He's playing as a 2nd right back tonight and they're questioning his workrate. He hasn't stopped working off the ball.

McGeady hasn't lost the ball once. Did very well to set up the 2nd and definitely has the beating of Puyol.

McDonald is quickly hitting top class standards by Celtic terms. Such fantastic control.

Overall Celtic have been poor but I'd take that every day of the week if it meant winning at this stage.

I coulda sworn it was Fabregas? Either way it should have led to a goal. Arsenal should be able to get a goal in the second half if the end of that half is anything to go by, fascinating game imo

Barca must be so pissed off, that scoreline is an injustice. But then again I guess its what happens if you waste that much.

I know you dislike Celtic but as an Irishman it must be great to think that Aiden McGeady has been the difference so far! :D;):p
