Typical Dublin, how they love to slag off their own.

Turn were a Meath band, from Kells.

Did I ever tell you about the old country?

dunno if it actually is Black Books you're doing, but I'll give it a bash

    Deserves a bump

Listening to some stuff on the way to work this morning - Beretta, Queen of my Heart, In Position, Too Much Make Up - brought the memories flooding back.

Some incredible gigs back in the day :)

Yeah, always liked Turn since I heard 'Facedown' on a sampler back in 2000. They played my local back in 2003 and I bashed around on the drums for the last song, quite pissed. Ollie Cole always seemed a bit aloof though, like he expected the world to simply love his band. I got the impression he was bitter that they were playing small gigs like that.

Saw their re-union in Cork over christmas 2012 and they were quite good.

Got the impression that he may have got the hump when Gavin Fox ****ed off to Idlewild just when it looked like Turn were about to finally break on through

Yeah, in fairness that 2003 gig was just after Fox had jumped ship.

The first time I saw them was a replacement for Muse (true story!) back in late 1999 or early 2000 in Cork. Can't remember the venue for the life of me. Wilt and Muse were doing a co-headline thing but in the meantime Muse's star was on the rise and they pulled out pretty much on the day, so Turn were their replacement. I thought they were great but I remember a couple of nobs asking for their money back when they heard Muse had pulled out and when they didn't get it, they spent the night in front of Ollie spitting at his feet. Pretty lousy actually.

I remember incessantly listening to 'Antisocial' for a full year driving to and from WIT when it come out, great stuff. 'Forward' is fantastic, definitely a contender for Irish album of the 00's. The self-titled one was very average and sounded to me like a band about to break up. Wasn't surprised in the slightest when they did shortly afterwards.
