Listen if we go for option A its just not gonna be as good a tournament. A lot of students won't want to spend the €70 let alone accommodation costs etc. There are groups of people who are students/non students, and if the non students aren't going up the students mightn't bother.

It'll just end up being a load of Dublin students playing just like any other day of the week.

If option A is chosen, i might just stay in Galway and play a tournament here, i'll be getting close to the same value so why bother.

The tournament organiser is very obviously preferential to option B, and I def back that up. Last year it was run like option B and it was a great tournament, with a very young field. This tournament should be aimed at YOUNG poker players in Ireland. Fcuk what its called! Stephen named the thing and he wants option B, so forget that stupid reason!
There are a lot of people who are thinking like me, and if option A is chosen, these people probably won't bother going up.

    (btw i'm a student)

if we end up being sued coz we differentiated between the different kind of students i.e. university v college v night course students, it will be a disaster

we could end up being so defined in criteria that we cant allow people with blue eyes or of a particular height to play the event

i think we should probably organise different events for different people, clearly some events will have very few players, like say the event for people who fit the following criteria
be above 18 but less than 23
have naturally blond hair (on their head)
    at least 5' 9"
be a university student with a grant
    be an "A" student
    from Dublin City
be insured to drive at least 1 parents' car
    have their own sports car
    have a 36/24/36 measurement
be about to inherit a fortune
    non-smoker
    gsoh

no, wait a minute, this is an add for a girlfriend, i will have to go back to the drawing board:cool::cool::cool::cool:

I ticked yes, until it said abotu inheriting a fortune, im only due 500,000, guess im out.

Also why, if you are impartial did carfax and clamper vote? just noticed?
Also option A has constantly been ahead since the start of the poll.

First of all, I obviously can't claim to be impartial in that I believed that Option B would make for a better "Student" tournament although as I said it makes no difference to me, Poker Ireland or Devilfish Poker so long as everybody that does take part has a great experience and when it comes down to it I'm sure we will still make the tournament a success with the 400 players we are aiming for.

Now I can't speak for Clamper but I voted first to make sure (a) the vote was public, as I ticked that [make votes public] box and (b) because I felt like it and immediately stated that obviously my vote wouldn't count.

Now as I said before we will probably have to go with Option A as it makes the most sense but I don't think its fair to say that that option is in front as there are at least 6 non-student votes in that category with only 3 non-student votes in Option B (as far as I am aware).

Anyway I'm done arguing over small little things now Joe, you can carry on for as long as you like....I hope once the poll is over that everyone gets behind the tournament. If all this has done one thing it has brought a lot of attention on the tournament, just hopes that translates into players supporting it as much as they can, because at the end of the day the National Student Champs is fairly worthless if students don't support it.

I Voted With My Opinion And Conscience

I Believe In My Constitutional Right To Vote

Will You Be Coming Yourself Mate?

Love To See You There, Maybe You Would Do A Master Class For The Students In The Finer Art Of Nl Hold'em?

I will of course be attending with many of my friends, I just felt it was important to air my opinion as I believe it is in the best interests of the tournament, and as I have my ear to the ground, and have heard the opinions of other like-minded people, i would be doing you a disservice by not letting you know.
Im sure it will be a good tournament either way, i just think it will be a better tournament, with students only.

P.s. no its not your constitutional right to vote here, you had to click the "students Vote" thread title to get into it! :)

its a hard question is ask. if we say studnets only

what is a studnet? ie IT's Uni plc are 2nd level students post grad

will we still get the number to play in the tournament.

either way i will be there casue it seems a very good chance to meet other players and have a bit of craic. so if the option there is A is picked to maybe have an irish youth tournament later in the year where everyone between say 18 and 30 can regaudless of who they are or what they do.

I might think an under thirties thing might be suited if you want to compromise. If over thirty, have to be a student.
