    it wouldn't be what i would try first but here

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19204&page=2

    I would try letting it run down completely then leave it on (official charger) for a few hours or days and see if that does anything

    Btw have you tried restarting the PC or trying a different PC or indeed a different USB cable just to rule those out

    Yeah that looks a tad scary. We've tried 4 different cables (including ones that came with ipods), did the run down and leave on a charger (for 4 days). Will try on a differenct PC later tonight.

    Its only a very minor problem

    It could be just a bad or incomplete install of the installer app

    Do you have the terminal app installed?

    If not then you need to get a PC so you can SSH into the phone and replace the installer app and then it should be fixed

    The other option is to replace the logic board

    Or was it bought in the US or UK

    US phone.

    Yeah, just reading about logic board, getting hands on one and actually doing the replacement is another gig all together.

    No it more than likely will be different

    it will be 192.168.*.*

    Depending on the router in your friends house just check it on the iphone when you are connected.

    You need to have openssh on the iphone you can check in the installer that it is there

    You need winscp on the PC and you need a copy of the installer app (if you PM me your email address I will email you a copy of it)

    You go to the root of the phone
    And you will see the Application folder go there and you will see all the apps
    Just replace the installer app with the new one and then shut winscp down reboot the phone and all should be good

    Your IP address can be anything. However it will always be in the same range as the gateway you are connecting to, and usually sequential. It is not impossible that the DHCP server on your friend's netopia will give you the same IP address as your own netopia at home.

    If it was installed when the phone was jailbroken then it won't show up in the installer

    So you should still have it

    When you open Winscp you will see two sides listing files and folders the left is your PC the right is your phone above each is a little box on the phone side click the box and scroll up to /root

    Root is the master folder that everything else is in

    When you go to login to winscp you put in the IP address which will be 192.168.something.something the username is root and the password should be alpine

    and port should be 22

    Dont delete anything just go to application click on it and it will open then
    on the left hand side where your PC is browse to where you have the copy of installer app then drag it to the window on the right and drop it in the applications folder it will ask do you want to overwrite say yes a few times and then you are done

    Hey guys,

    So my friend was having trouble with his iphone when he was using an iphonesimfreer, i think the sim was a bit dodgy or whatever so i decided i would unlock it with the new software unlock. His was OTB 1.1.2 btw.
    So anyway cut a long story short ive gone through all the stages and jailbroken 1.1.2 but i need iWorld installed as i get that problem when dialing a number etc. But iWorld seems to be gone now from installer?!?

    What can i do? How do i unlock his sim and make it work?

    i managed to get HTTP working over live.vodafone.com. info is here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6365. imap and pop3 still dont work, but 95% of what you need is web based... ive just signed a 12 month contract so im pretty stuck with voda at the moment...

    Hi,

    I have tried this using the proxy.pac file as

    function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
    {
    if (isInNet(myIpAddress(), "000.000.0.0", "255.255.255.0"))
    return "PROXY 10.24.59.100:9201";
    else
    return "DIRECT";
    }

    10.24.59.100 is the vodafone live proxy. But which port do I use, i've tried alot...80,8080,9201 etc but none seem to work. I am currently pay as you go on vodafone.

    I have also added the change to preferences.plist by the way.

    <key>Proxies</key>
    <dict>
    <key>ProxyAutoConfigEnable</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>ProxyAutoConfigURLString</key>
    <string>file:///private/var/root/proxy.pac</string>
    </dict>

    Sorry gerry for providing the wrong info regarding the iPhone but thought you could have a static IP (as opposed to DHCP)

    If he did it would still work, since his friend has the same router and thus the same gateway IP address. This is assuming, of course, that there isn't another device at the location with the same IP address as his Iphone.

    Oh, I know it would still work but would DHCP not assign a different IP address? Possibly different to the one at the moment.

    The DHCP server on the router could not assign an IP address to a device that is not configured at accept a DHCP assigned IP address. In other words, if there's already a static IP address set in the Iphone, it won't look for a new one from the router's DHCP server.

    But chances are.. unless gerrynealon has set up a static IP, it will be set to accept a DHCP assigned address.
