just wondering when you update from 1.1.2jb (O2sim) using DEVteam, and when you restore the device during the install. can you retrieve all your sms and settings when you connect it to itunes. hope this makes sense. Does iworld work with 1.1.3

u don't need to restore after the DevTeam 1.1.3 update.
Just use the version in installer and every thing will be in tact.
No need for iWorld in 1.1.3 as it supports most (all?) countries.

I'm using the devteam's 1.1.3 update and it worked with that no problem. I'm not going near the baseband tho unless I see the unlock confirmed as working with the new baseband

guys this has been annoying me for ages, and i couldn't find any answers when searching...

how do i install themes like this one http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=1496
it's a download, so do i have to access the phone from the PC?

where do i put the files?

    t.i.a.

I haven't tried this so i may be way off the mark.

    according to the summerboard site

each theme has its own folder here:
    /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes/

if i were to guess id say you download the zip, unzip the contents and then copy the folder containing the theme to the above folder using iPhoneBrowser or iBrickr.

Hey all, just tried using the iClarified guide to software unlock my sim but alas it wasn't successful!! My phone seems to reboot in the middle of it and go back to the slide to unlock screen! It a pretty simple tutorial to follow so I am wondering if anyone else had the same problem?!

    Cheers.

Guys! I have just realised even though the above did happen, it so happens that my iPhone is actually unlocked as I put in my own sim card just to see if anything would happen, and what do you know, but the beautiful sign of reception bars and 'Meteor' appeared on my phone!! Adios Nokia, hola iPhone!!

I restored factory setting because of all the messing about I'd been doing. Now I can't downgrade using shift restore at all. itunes returns an "unknown error". This happens when I try downgrading to 1.0.2, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2

managed to fix this by putting th ephone into DFU mode. When you boot the phone you have to hold the power button for EXACTLY 10 seconds and keep the home button held down. Then do the shift restore with iTunes making sure the iPhone's screen is blank.

I've downgraded back to 1.1.1 but I can't download AppSnapp. When I click on the my phone returns to the activation screen and nothing else happens. I also have an "invalid SIM" Message that was never there before.

Plug the phone back into itunes till it recognises it then shut itunes down then try www.jailbreakme.com then leave the phone alone after clicking on install it can take a minute or 2 to reboot

What are you on at the moment presumably it is 1.1.2 if not update to 1.1.2

If it is 1.1.2 have you a lot of apps installed trying uninstalling them have you at least 300mb free space as well

Worse case go back to 1.1.1 and work back up to a fresh jailbroken 1.1.2

What I want to say to you would get me banned. wtf is the point of posting a brag that you unlocked the phone but then tell no one how you did it?

Ok. I upgraded to 1.1.3 using http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=611 (this does not update the baseband)... note that using this 'installer' method took a while and I believe my phone hung (see the comment at page bottom).. I gave up waiting afte 2hrs and reset myself (home+power)... after a couple mins I was up and running 1.1.3. Don't know why it hung.

Also, there is a windows method: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=610 which has a few extra steps, and may not cause hanging (i don't know for sure, didn't try this method).

I then used this: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/comments.php?page=16&enid=649#commentsanchor to unlock 1.1.3 (no downgrade). This was a breeze and finished in less that 5 mins. *sim removed and working OK on meteor. Good luck to others.

    Time for bed!! :D

Before I head to bed, can someone definitively answer this:

Should I be seeing the 'E' logo for Edge, regardless of the settings on my phone. I remember seeing it when first installing my (meteor) sim, but when I went to do the settings it was no longer there and haven't seen it since??

I'm in Dublin city centre so there shouldn't be problems with reception area. Any thoughts??

Oh and has Google maps locate me (1.1.3) located anyone on meteor? Just spins constantly for me.

dlane99, thanks for the Summerboard tip. On searching the path has been updated to /private/var/mobile/Library/SummerBoard/Themes for 1.1.3.

    ...Now bed!!

    G'man. Thanks. I'll give it a try.

I can't believe all this downgrading and jailbreaking at lower versions was completely unnecessary.

EDIT: Already I realise I DO have to downgrade and spend another ****ing day at this nonsense. Ridiculous.

"To follow these instructions you need to have a 1.1.2 Jailbroken iPhone. "

Why did you not have to downgrade?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,389 ✭✭✭cianclarke

Wow incredible news! I'm delighted but also a bit pissed off because I only managed to install my *sim from deal extreme thursday evening!!

I'd rather SW unlock so I can swap sims without worrying about the crappy little wafer thin chip falling out of alignment.
Using the iClarified method (which is incredibly easy!!) do you loose all your data on the iPhone? What I'm worried about is loosing my wireless keychain, I have a lot of WEP keys stored in it.
    Anybody know?
    Thanks

I figured that was only for users with 1.1.3 OTB. My phone is 1.1.2 OTB, which I updraded to 1.1.3

I just decided to give it a try because the title said unlock 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB. LOL, I didn't really care!!

    edit:
    cianclarke wrote:

cian, i didn't loose anything. My WiFi password remained intact. However, when I upgraded to 1.1.3, I seemed to loose a considerable amount of space! I had to clean up some of the root space before unlocking (this is important. use BossTool to check space on root - which is seperate from 'normal' space).

Wow that's really great, you didn't loose any of your apps or music or anything?

If so I think its time I started hacking away At this so I can throw away the two *sims I just bought...

Sorry, i should have been a bit clearer. I ment I didn't loose my settings. I did loose some programs, themes, etc. My music is still intact. I didn't have too many programs installed, so when I did the upgrade, etc. I just reinstalled them. Also, it is recommended that you uninstall most programs, and keep BSD subsystems (or install before).

From what I understand Unlocking the phone won't cause you to lose any settings, applications etc. Updating it to 1.1.3 will however so you should probably stay at 1.1.2 unless you want the features available in 1.1.3
