you dont have to downgrade to 1.0.2 to do the unlock, it can be done almost as easily on 1.1.2

I bought an iphone in NY end of december
Version 1.1.2 otb (3B48b)
Serial 85749Wxxxxx

that ive activated and jailbroken to 1.1.2
I work on a mac and want to upgrade to 1.1.3 with the new software unlock.

Any guides out there for mac users? and do i need to restore or downgrade before i go back up?

I'm more confused than ever now. Lost of how many times I've downgraded, upgraded, ibrickred, appsnapped, jailbroken phon in last 24 hours and I still don't which way is the right way.

All those clever people out there and they can't put together a simple definitive tutorial.

you can do the software unlock on your jailbroken 1.1.2 firmware as it is.

I dont know how upgrading to 1.1.3 affects the unlock.

A good tutorial always comes out, but to be fair, the unlock isnt even out 24 hours yet.
Like i said earlier, give it a day or two and there will be a guide and probably an app in installer that will do it for you.

if i had done it, id post instructions on how i did it,
but im waiting till the process is a bit clearer.

if anyone wants to do it now then follow the thread on hackint0sh,

The simplest I've seen is where you copy over the files to a folder on your iphone and change the permissions so they can be executed. Someone has written a shell script to run the commands, thus making it easier and lessening the chance of making an error. Have a look through the release sticky thread on hackint0sh for that post, think they hosted it on sendspace, so maybe use that as a search parameter for that thread. At the moment all that installer app does is download the required files to your phone, you still need to execute them in the terminal.

I have an OTB 1.1.2 jailbroken at 1.1.1, can I unlock from here? or do I have to restore to 1.1.2 or other to get it sim free?
I really dont want to restore cos it took me ages to jailbreak & I dont wanna go through that again....

You would have to UPDATE to 1.1.2 NOT restore

the modem firmware you have 04.02.13G is not compatible with 1.1.1

From where you are now run OKTOPREP

Then UPDATE

then run jailbreak for 1.1.2 from the PC that will install openssh for you as well just tick the box

Then install the terminal from the installer

transfer the files to the phone then turn on airplane mode
and run the commands in the terminal

And reboot and you are done

Question: Does the new unlock process need to be done with the original (at&t) sim? (i'm guessing it don't matter!)

Also, i'v been trying to get ISP enabled on meteor all week (i dont know if it's enabled), but for some reason the little 'E' (edge) logo has dissapeared. Been like that for about 3-4 days, in different locations. Could this be a problem, or anything to do with the sim alignment? I haven't had any sim errors (yet!).

Ok I'm going by this guide which matches what cdebru was saying.
I've downloaded 1.1.2-jailbreak.zip and I'm currently downloading the 1.1.2 firmware I'll post back here after I'm done.

I just unlocked my 1.1.2otb iphone,
its pretty simple.

Just copy gunlock, the fls and the seczone files to \usr\bin
install openssh and terminal on the iphone
install putty on the pc
then connect to iphone,
copy and paste the commands,
wait a min and its done....

i did it with my meteor sim and my *sim,
i dont think it makes any diff.

I bought a 1.1.3 otb iphone last week in the states, just got it unlocked today with the new method released.
Here's how i did it, when i first got my iphone i jailbroke it (use google to find out how, it not hard).

Then today i went to installer and added www.desbloqueiobr.com.br/rep as a source. From the install menu i installed AutoGunlock. Make sure to put your phone to flight mode and auto-lock to never. Run autogunlock, click CANCEL, then OK. (MAKE SURE ITS IN FLIGHT MODE BEFORE YOU START). takes about 5 minutes, insert your simcard when done and restart your iphone.

Worked for me, hope this helps a few people.

Just tried that....unfortunately i didnt get the "your iphone is now unlocked" but it rebooted and picks up the vodafone network.......however i cant make calls....when i go into the "phone keypad", it kicks me straight out....similarly with the sms part. Any ideas???

try runnin it again, if all else fails restore and re-jailbreak

DevTeam.
Had Nate's before but found it very buggy.
DevTeam is much more stable IMO.

Phone is perfect, removed my *Sim and have tested every aspect.

just wondering when you update from 1.1.2jb (O2sim) using DEVteam, and when you restore the device during the install. can you retrieve all your sms and settings when you connect it to itunes. hope this makes sense. Does iworld work with 1.1.3
