    - Create a directory named "Support" in the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/ directory
    on your iPhone.
    - Copy the "AppSupport" and "AppSupport.original" files from the zip file to
the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/ directory on your iPhone.
    - Copy the "PhoneNumber.dylib" and "PhoneNumberTemplates.txt" files from the zip file to
the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/Support/ directory on your iPhone.
    - Optimize the "PhoneNumberTemplates.txt" file on your iPhone by moving all templates for your country
to the top of the file and/or removing templates for countries that you don't need.
    - Reboot iPhone.

    Hey,

I followed this method for the fix and now im seriously stuck.

I rebooted the phone with all files in place. HOWEVER, when i try to use any of the phone functions, it launches back to summerboard..... Plus when somebody calls me, nothing happens on my end (except the 'loading' style wheel comes up in screen) and the phone freezes!!

    HELP! :(

Wise choice. Although a brand new 1.1.2 OTB unit from Newry would be nice if you can get it, plus your own xsim. ;)

is xsim an absolute must or is unlocking available via software not as good? i only ask because the only hardware unlocking type of stuff i've ever done is on old nokia's and the PSP... i don't mind paying a little extra to get good stuff either... i paid a lot for my current phone and its lasted me a good 4 years

A software unlock would be better, imo, and certainly cheaper. Problem is, there isn't one for 1.1.2 OTB (yet). The hardware method doesn't actually unlock the iphone, rather it tricks the iphone into thinking it has a respective O2 or AT&T SIM inserted, and not the actual Vodefone Ireland SIM (or whatever network you're on).

Still, much as the xsims are a bit pricey, they are simple to install. Certainly if you've flashed DCT3 or DCT4 Nokias in the past, installing an xsim in your Iphone will be child's play. :)

To verify, you put phone into recovery mode, downgraded to 1.1.1, booted into normal mode, installed oktoprep, updated to 1.1.2 and then ran 112 jailbreak?

Is your phone USA or UK phone as earlier xsims only work with USA, next ones need to be programmed for uk by copying data from o2 sim that came with phone and latest ones give you the option to select usa or uk

Does your xsim and o2 (irish o2?) work in another phone

Also what are first five digits of your phone's serial number?

Lads does anybody have a source for SendSong for 1.1.2? In installer apps it is only for 1.1.3?

If i use ssh and place songs into the ringtones folder, what filetype should they be?

Hi guys I've been trying for 2 days now & still cannot jailbreak my OTB 4.6 1.1.2 iPhone week 51 production. I've downgraded to 1.1.1 but Appsnap just won't install. iPhone just stays on Activate iPhone with the Slide for Emergency at the bottom & nothing happen, regardless of how long I wait.
    I've tried :
    • jailbreakme.com
    • jailbreak.unlockthatiphone.com (gives 404 not found)
    • jailbreak.toc2rta.com
    • i.unlock.no
I click on install appsnap, browser crashes then nothing.
I've tried connecting to iTunes, not connecting. Restoring numerous times. With the AT&T sim, & my own regular sim with pin turned off. Auto lock set to Never. I can open the web pages, I click on the install appsnap links butthen nothing.

I'm completly out of ideas & really frustrated.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Ive had this problem myself a few times. After kicking the phone out of recovery mode with ibrickr I found if I run itunes once more before disconnecting from the usb cable and then closing itunes and then going about the jailbreak it works grand. took me ages to figure it out, dont know how many times i reinstaled 1.1.1 and tried appsnapp to no avail

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭Bruce Fan

Just tried that to no avail. I think I'm jinxed or something!
I've been using a wireless network that I set up at home through my laptop with my O2 wireless broadband so I'm gona head up the road to the library and try their wireless network see if it makes a difference.
I've just restored, ran ibrick, then ran itunes & disconnected so i'll run appsnap once I connect to the network.
I'll post back here after I'm done.
    Fingers crossed...

Erica keeps this list of previous versions,
the page says the files should be .m4a.

I've only installed apps via installer, I would imagine you can use ssh or iPhoneBrowser to transfer the SendSong.app folder to the Applications folder on the iphone.

    Caveat emptor.

Well I'm back from the library. The wireless network there wouldn't let me download the tiff file (appsnap) cos it said it was a virus! So I still haven't jailbroken the bloody thing yet...
    davkav wrote: »

I'm holding down shift then clicking on restore and choosing the 1.1.1 firmware iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw
I looked through loads of guide & youtube vids, I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right.

Only thing I can think of now is to try and find a Wi-Fi spot in a local bar or cafe & try it there... :(

Lads...I've tried downloading from installer (e.g. sendsong) but keep getting message that need 1.1.3 to use this version. Any way to get 1.1.2 versions (and no I don't particullarly want to go to 1.1.3, took me long enough to get it going as is & don't want to feck it up like I have in the past).

    thanks.

Had the same problem..Don't ask me why but try www.jailbreakme.com and to keep the iPhone connected to the computer and make sure its detected in iTunes.

Otherwise it seems to work if you retry installing AppSnapp till it works. Don't know what the issue is exactly (maybe a server load issue) but if it doesn't work immediately then try again (I had to try many times but eventually worked).

see http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=461 (careful though he forgets to run oktoprep when updating back to 1.1.2 (before jailbreaking)

    **NOTE** (Wednesday, December 20th, 2007 12:00):
Here is a list of suggestions for those still having problems with the jailbreak server(Step 22). These suggestions have not been proven as it has always worked for me. However, they are still probably worth a try if the server is giving difficulty. If anyone has a suggestion to add then please let me know.
    - Try to do a hard reset on the iPhone and try again
    - Make sure you have a strong wireless signal
    - Try the jailbreak with your iPhone still connected to the computer and iTunes
    - Try using http://www.jailbreakme.com instead of http://jailbreakme.com
    - Disable wireless encryption on your network
    - Use a Wi-Fi connection without proxy

Girlfriend bought me an iPhone from the US for my 30th birthday. Just looking into how to unlock and found this thread. So much info to wade through. I'm going to try and follow davkav's guide http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=54908577&postcount=2595
    but I'm seriously confused.

Here's one for the stupidest question of the year award? How the hell do I physically put my O2 SIM card into my iPhone. Is it SIM free? If SIM free how the hell does that work?

Also, Do I have pay for jail break software?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭Bruce Fan

higster - Thanks for that, tried all of it same results. Only reason I can come up with for this is the wireless network I'm using.

At the top of your iPhone there's a tiny hole beside the headphone connection, slide a paper clip in the hole and pull out the sim.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf9oHGzLF_M
A couple of the many, many guides I've read say to leave the AT&T sim in the phone while you're trying to jailbreak it. I've tried it both ways, still with no luck...

I'm seriously thinking over turning my iPhone into an iFrisbie and tossing it out the window....

Know how you feel, I was messing with mine for weeks and had one disaster after another (including totally fecking up the phone itself, got another).

Very very weird though...process does work. Sure its a 1.1.2 and not 1.1.3? Think (and not the word think) there is a difference on how to do it...

cdebru is the man on the iPhone but hasn't been arouind since this morning...

    Thanks Bruce.

Ok I'm on Step 1.4. "4. In order to kick the phone out of that mode I just had to launch ibrickr from this zip file."

I launched ibrickr.exe and and I get a screen with the following message but nothing is happening.

"Please wait while we contact your iPhone. If your iPhone is not plugged in please plug in the USB cable now."

EDIT: Never mind. we're sorted. On we go.... :)

Do I have pay for jail break software?
    Nope

How the hell do I physically put my O2 SIM card into my iPhone. Is it SIM free? If SIM free how the hell does that work?

See Bruce Fans comment (2nd paragrapgh) on how to get at sim.

You'll need to figure out if its a 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 version (4th and 5t digit are week of manufacture, if the are less than 01 (e.g. 52/51) than is 1.1.2)

Either way you will need a *sim card (eg Turbosim, Stealthsim etc) that sits on top of your O2/Vodafone sim and tricks the phone into thinking its a AT&T sim card.

Highly recommend you have a read of the "Useful iPhone Info" sticky here and have a read of http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=137 (I recommend their guide) and read posts especially cdebru's

I'm looking for a nice leather iphone case and I don't really want to buy it from the net. I know the cases will be ready available when the iPhone comes to Ireland.

But is there anywhere in Dublin that might sell a leather case. I've seen silicone iphone cases but I hate silicone cases. I also hate plastic cases

It'd be nice to get clarification from someone with experience of the Stealth Sim on 1.1.3. Unfortunately there's conflicting information on this thread about them.

    For what its worth...
Was in London today for work, the 'unlock any phone' shops on Oxford
St told me that the current sims won't work, or are at best unreliable for OTB 1.1.3 , they said they expect working sims (what they sell of course) at the end of the month.

Ok looks like i've fully jailbroken my phone.

Now, am I right in saying all I need to do is buy THIS and then it will work with my O2 SIM card.

Are there any other conditions or checks I need to do?

Success!!! At long, long last I finall jailbroke my 1.1.2 otb!
Heres what I did for those of you who having problems installing appsnapp:
    • Restored to v1.1.1
    • Ran ibrickr
    • Turned off iPhone & put in my regular Meteor sim.
    • Opened iTunes, which gives you error message like "not proper sim"
    • With iTunes open connect to jailbreakme.com & installed appsnapp & Bingo!
I tried this before but for some reason it worked last night.
For those of you without a wireless network at home, you can turn your regular laptop/PC into a wireless network for your iPhone relatively easily, using an O2/3/Vodafone wireless broadband (what I used) or just about any internet connection.

Only problem is now when I run iTunes it tellls me I've only got 300MB space total!!
I see this is a common problem, but it seems you need to restore to fix it. After the hassle I had jailbreaking the first time I'm a bit reluctant to do this....

Does anyone know a way to fix the 300MB problem without restoring?
