I know, I still want a coupon as de icing on de cake...and to bring my new 1700 under €1k :)

It should be under 1k anyway, unless you maxed out the specs, which you should't as dell rip you off. I tried the same specs for a 15.4 and a 17, there was only 30e difference. I picked the 15.4 for 820e. 17 is needlessly big imo.

If you use the code N0115005 you get a great Core 2 Duo laptop with 3GB ram and 160GB hard drive for €555.39. The price goes to €615.39 when you reduce the warranty and then to €555.39 when added to basket.
The only two problems are that it doesn't have an option for 9 cell battery and the offer ends today.

Not really. Mind you, have then down to €2,400 for the new XPS M1730 with dual 8800GTXs.. Retails at close to 2,840:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7700 (2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2-cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English
Base Warranty - 1 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support (incl. Gaming and On-Site Support)
    17.0" UltraSharp™ WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT with TrueLife™ with Integrated 2.0MP web cam
Crimson Red with White LED Backlights
    2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
    320GB (7200rpm) SATA RAID 0 Stripe (2x160GB)
    DUAL SLI 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800GTX card
    Ageia PhysX Processing Unit Card
Fixed 8x DVD+/-RW Slim Slot Load drive, including SW
    Primary 9-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (85 WHr)

Have bought quite a few bits of the particular sales person and he was generally able to offer me some very good discounts. This time around however, he was saying that Dell are majorly cracking down on discounts and that the above was the very best he could do.

im looking at a XPS 1530 with 2 or 4GB RAM, (the 4GB is only 100 quid more so i think its worthwhile) and 160GB 7,200 RPM HDD.
Anyone got any 10% coupons? Had one at 1038 or so in Jan but its up 300 now without the coupon!

Also a friend of mine said the Quality dudes at dell are finding a serious % of laptops failign at the moment. He mentioend 50%! But he said that could be exagerated but that there is a cause for concern. Alos there seems to be a static charge problem witgh the XPS if not earthed correctly. Anyone find that on any recent purchases? Somethign to do with shipping 2 pin ones or something?!

Yeah I read something about them shipping with two pin adapters, and if you run your fingers along the aluminium part you get that slightly buzzy static sensation. No major reports of death by xps yet, but it's not the safest practice. Apparently you just need to mention it to them on the phone and they'll supply you with the proper three pin job though.

Are you sure that isn't 8700's? Sticking one let alone two 8800gtx's in a laptop would be impossible I'd have thought because of heat and size restrictions and the amount of cooling and power it would need. Do you have a link?

It just launched recently. Currently only available with 2 x 8800M, should be available with 1 for cheaper shortly.

Alienware have just launched a 15" (!) with 8800M, so by all accounts the card doesnt run as hot as you'd imagine for such a powerhouse. First 3DMark06 BM of the Alienware M15x ive seen was 10,000+ out of the box

Ah it's a mobile part I thought it was the desktop 8800. I didn't know that the 8800 mobile parts were out yet. I can't believe the things are in a 15" laptop. The only reason I bought a 17" last year was because that was the smallest size laptop a 7900 would go in. I want one. :(

I got my new XPS M1330 yesterday and it came with a 3-pin charger thankfully!

Ordered it by phone but didn't mention it to them at the time. They must all be shipping with them now.

Has anyone got an opinion on the xps m1530? My sister is looking to buy one for use with photoshop and possibly some architecture programmes like CAD. I have seen that it can be configured with 4gb ram for only 100euro more or a better processor from the standard for about the same price too. So what I want to know is what is better to have; the better 2.0/2.2 ghz core 2 duo or 4GB ram? For programmes like photoshop what would you recommend? Will she need the more expensive graphics card?

Her absolute max budget is 1200 but she doesn't need a big hard drive in it. She also wants a very good screen for photography- it must display colours very well, for this should be thinking about buying a dell 22" ultrasharp monitor?
    Any help is much appreciated.

Someone posted in another forum saying he had paid by credit transfer. It took around six days for confirmation of his order; a little longer than by credit card. You'd have to ring them to pay this way. At least you could try battling with them to bring down the price too -- just be sure to make it look like you're keen on buying the system now and you'll get them to slash something off the price.

Try N0210001 for the Vostro 1000 with a Sempron 3600+ and reduce the warranty as usual, 361.29 incl. VAT & shipping...
