In the Junior Cup, Gerard's beat Newbridge 11-10

Michaels v CBC tomorrow, both 6-1 as outright winners on PP.

I'll be supporting Michaels, but I hear CBC are quite good this year. MIchaels will be pumped to defend the title however.

Belvo weren't great at all today. They need to get their acts together if they're going to win the cup.
Anyone know when the Rock-Clongowes replay is?

Zaga and ref not great , Mary were much bigger and looked a real team , the Mary's no.1 was huge , and zaga hardly won a lineout -- there no 6 was excellent though - it was close with zaga leading up until half time , penalty count was very much in favour to Mary's -- but worthy winners

That same ref slaughtered marys a few times and cost them a sf a few years ago, the reason there were so many penalties is quite simply because gonzaga had to kill the ball as much as possible so they wouldnt conceed 5 pointers.

Hats of to Gonzaga though, they tried to run the ball as much as possible and their attitude and commitment made it a great match to watch.

Marys would want to improve their backline moves and their lineout, quite sloppy at times.

have to agree with your man above, although i would have prefered a zaga win, i thought they tried to kill the ball constantly. to be honest i thought a few calls went against marys but whatever...
cmon cbc 2moro neway, huge game..

i think its the same ref also that disallowed 2 legit tries against rock last year -- loves his own importance , and the sound of his whistle and voice, hopefully he doesn't advance beyond schoolboy rugby -- anyway well done mary's , good allround team great full back and there kicker is a bit of a Wilkinson with the boot

Went to the belvo game today and for a moment it was looking like roscrea could have a chance of taking it. I have been trying to say here for awhile that belvo are nowhere near as good as theyre made out to be and havent been playing like no.1 contenders at all. Today is probably going to be the kick up the orse they need.

Just watched the marys vs zaga match. didnt think the ref was biased at all really, zaga kept killing the ball i was surprised no yellow card to be honest. Have to say Zaga's defence was v.good and their back McEvoy was outstanding. They were a lot better than I expected. Marys outhalf was excellent at kicking and their fullback Darren Hudson is some player. They didnt seem to play as well as their form has suggested but never looked in danger of losing. Overpowered zaga completely. Also the marys right winger looked very good made some outstanding breaks

    Brilliant matches coming up
    CBC vs Micheals
    Rock vs Clongowes replay
    cant wait

Belvo need to sort themselves out quickly. Two under par games in a row- against Rock or Clongowes they probably would have lost. They must be hoping they didn't peak to soon in the season. When is the Rock Clongowes replay. Clongowes must have the massive advantage going in after the manner of the last game ending. Michaels/CBC tomorrow, forward battle is gonna be massive. Michaels look to be peaking at the right time and CBC have a lot more potential than they've been showing recently.

id like cbc to win i think it will be michaels too edge it tho, gonna be a great game is cbc playing with no injuries?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 348 ✭✭frink

    CBC 30 - St Michaels 3

Comprehensive victory for cbc, completly outplayed them. Could have scored a few more

    Roll on the semis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭TheVoodoo

    Cbc were fantastic!!

Could have put atleast 2 more tries past micheals in the second half.

    Their defence was outstanding

Have to hold the hands up. CBC were very good. Good luck to them in the rest of the cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,608 ✭✭✭themont85

Thats the best CBC cup performance I've ever seen. Will be hard to repeat that against a very good Marys side but if they play half as well as that they can win. Watch it on Setanta tonight, some brilliant backs play especially Gary Foley and the winger Stephen Roberts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭dc69

unbelievable, champagne rugby.defence superb aswell, some wastefull moments i though, they could have scored at least 2 more.tbh i dont know how there was any hype about michaels.they were piss poor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭TheVoodoo

Did anyone else think CBC #8 Noones handoff in the first half was unreal?

I think today cbc finally justified all the pre cup hype about them. They were outstanding today didnt give michaels a sniff all match their defence was excellent and as for Foley and Roberts they were just immense. Their continuity and offloading was fantastic and the pack although not great at the lineout played their hearts out and were superb at the break down throughout match. If they play like this in the semi's there's no reason why they couldn't go all the way.

Good to see a league school doing well, hope they can go all the way

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 59 ✭✭what say what?

doesn't look like marys stand a chance. CBC will be the first team to do the double!!

Gary Foley is the next schoolboy superstar, michaels didn't know how to react -they were shellshocked

Thats the most impressive performance of the cup without a doubt

    24-0
    30-3

54 points, 7 tries for 0 against, theyre unstoppable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 165 ✭✭leek

there were class. foley played one of his best games all year. getting back into the form we all no he has, he hasnt performed all year like that, roberts was class too, differnce was foley tho and some very good fast ball by sean o connor cant wait for semi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭Beanmachine

Have to agree with the Foley statement he looked different class out there he was jauzionesque in his ability too offload in the tackle and his break for the Roberts try was top drawer.

Wouldn't get too carried away with the win though. Mary's will offer strong competition and i don't think CBC will blow them away but if they play like they did today they will win.

Ho-ly bean. Don't ****ing believe what I just saw on TV. In the first half CBC completely ended the match; a period of about 15 mins where CBC collected the restart and just scored, ending up in 3 consecutive tries.

Joe and Dave C know all about it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭Beanmachine

    we couldnt beleive it either!!

fantastic game to watch, delighted obviously, but must hand it to micheals for the spirit they showed when down and out.
i reckon marys will watch that and probably notice that foley must be stopped!

in all honesty thought, frm having watched it again, it was 10 minutes of madness from micheals, i reckon we are talking 20+ missed tackles in that space of time which is suicidal.cant see marys doing the same, they looked more composed yesterday than micheals did 2day wen dey went a try down.
must say, was very nervous at the start, tout if micheals went 10-0 up cud hav been game over, but the boys were gr8.
