I just want to know how unlock the iPhone so a Vodafone sim could be used. I am not interested in application downloads, of anything to do with computer software at all. It has come to my attention that it is possible to do it on the iPhone alone by typing in codes, does anybody know how to do this?

Do you already have an iPhone? If it is week 44 or earlier (4th and 5th digits of serial number are week number), then it will have 1.1.1 or earlier firmware and can be unlocked via software only. If 45 or later it will be 1.1.2, can be jailbreaked via software but requires an XSIM to work as a phone as there are no software 1.1.2 unlocks currently

it could be 1.1.3 as well in which case be careful that the sim will work with 1.1.3 OTB ie 04.03.13G baseband firmware

I think unlock codes will be released within 6 months as French law made this obligatory when the iPhone was launched there.

Only for french iphones that were contracted for 6 months

Has anybody found a good cheap dock for their iPhone? I'd imagine some of them mightn't fit the iPhone - I'm looking for something with a speaker, possibly a remote, and under 50 quid.. Second hand from eBay would be fine.
I'd love one of the bose ones, but so expensive! :(

    On another note...
    *WORD OF CAUTION*
Don't randomly try your iPhone in your friends iPod dock - a *LOT* of these docks are made for the iPod only, which is 10volt. The iPhone is 5volt - the resut is an iPaperweight. Check first, best bet would be google or search hackint0sh.org forums for compatibility reports.

As stated earlier iWorld doesn't seem to be compatible with 1.1.3 so I did the 'users.skynet fix to try and get the incoming calls to match with the contacts, but it still didn't seem to work. Initially I started to duplicate the numbers in any contact that didn't work so that a contact contained -
    '087XXXXXXX
    as well as
    +35387XXXXXXX

However after a bit of digging around there is a fix which works for me now which is to change the second instance of 'ie' (just before the '353') in the above file to 'us'.
This appears to work on my 1.1.2OTB US iPhone (week 50) upgraded to 1.1.3 (via Natetrue version) using a hardware Xsim.

Just tried both of those options and neither of them worked, still seeing just numbers when I looking at text messages.

Have a software unlocked iPhone (natetrue version) on 1.1.3, any ideas?

copy the ie text and place it to the top of the file. change the two "ie" to "gb"(not uk) go into your settings/general/international and change to uk and reset.

Thanks Dan but still no joy, can't firgure out what i'm doing wrong, I've placed below at the very top of the text file.

    // Ireland [gb]

    gb 353 00 0

    + + + + 1 #######;########

    + + + + 40# #####;######;#######

    + + + + 50# #####;######;#######

    + + + + ## #####;######;#######

You changed the international to UK aswell ya?That would really piss me off i spent 2 hours straight getting mine working. There is aother problem you could be having the International format might not be changing. There is a SSH command you can find out you comf with that? Also did you def overwrite the other files in the folder?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,761 ✭✭✭cdebru

I think the problem is that the fix is not retrospective

If you have conversation in the format 35387******* and conversation in the 087******* for the same contact the fix will work if you get rid of the 35387 texts from then on it will list texts from that number under the contacts name if you hold both the phone will continue to add texts to the 35387 conversation first

Yeah its changed to UK, and checked over it a couple of times just for good measure, I know its a really time waster.

You could have a point there, maybe ill try dump all my texts and see if that changes anything.

    Cheers .

If you delete the ones that you have since the upgrade to 1.1.3 that should do it

Shouldn't that 'gb' in brackets stay as 'ie' though??

Question for those people who bought iphones in NEWRY, I no they accept Credit Card but do they accept Debit, ie Irish Mestro?

Not quite the answer you need, but when I've been shopping in the North with my AIB Laser/Maestro card, I've had mixed results. For example, Mothercare's credit card terminal in Belfast wouldn't accept neither mine nor my wife's, yet in all the other stores we went to we had no problems. The girl in Mothercare told me their machine never "likes" Southern Maestro cards. Don't know about the O2 stores though.

Those who used the NateTrue method of updating to 1.1.3 are being advised that they should either redo it using the devteam method or wait for Natetrue to issue a fix to bring his jailbreak into line with the devteams.

The issue is to do with applications apparently Nate hacked the 1.1.3 firmware so it could run apps the way they had been run in previous firmware versions the Devteam have changed the way that apps are installed to keep it the same as the way apple will allow apps to be installed

That means that the Devteam is the correct way and that updated apps will be updated to run in the Devteam method and will not run on the Natetrue jailbreak.

Despite what Dan said previously about stealthsim and 1.1.3 the official answer from stealthsim.com is NO

We got it working with a Few Commands but its not ideal for the average using but the Gen 4 X-sim works Straight away with OTB 1.1.3

Yeah they have updated it a few times

I am still on 1.1.2 I have a phone on 1.1.3 used the Natetrue method but am going to redo it using the Dev team

The issue is that Natetrues method allows applications to run in the same manner that they did in previous firmware versions and the dev teams restricts how applications run to bring them into line with how official third party apps will run.

Developers of third party apps are developing 1.1.3 compatible apps to work with the Devteams 1.1.3 jailbreak rather than Natetrues and Natetrues has been removed from the installer. he is supposed to be working on a patch to bring his jailbreak into line with the Devteams so you can wait for that or redo and use the Dev teams

What way was the 1.1.3 jailbreaked as the Natetrue method has a patched lockdown that is not compatible with the 04.03.13 basedband firmware. ?

I don't know why people are ****ing about with GB or US in the text file I have done this on at least 9 phones at this stage and I have NEVER had to change the text file.

Did you reboot the phone (ie shut it down completely not just turn the screen off) after you transfered the files.

It works every time for me.

    Hey,

My phone messed up (it wouldn't show up my music even though there were 7gigs used).

I have to do a complete restore now. Can anyone link to a guide for a 1.1.2 downgrade to 1.1.1 and an upgrade back to 1.1.2 again. Can be Mac (pref) or Windows.

    Regards,
    Chris
