There is no Software unlock, They wouldnt hid that as it wouldnt make much difference to Apple. And they reckon there wont be a unlock(if any) for some time.

if you try to install the 1.1.3 jailbreak, and it removes the unlock, can you restore it to 1.1.2

Also do you install the jailbreak first or do you install the update first. I'm confused

That it updated a jailbroke a otb jailbroken 1.1.2 to 1.1.3

Boo-hoo for me. Ah well, I guess I'll wait for the xsim that is coming and give it a try (china3ggp 4th gen I think) when it doesn't work I'll order a proper one. By then my o2 contract will be up and the iPhone will be officially released here and I'll just have to buy a new one. And you know I don't care - I love my "slightly thicker" iPod touch

im just read a post on hackintosh that says baseband isnt upgraded via ibrickr113 method, that means iphonesimfreer sim would still work doesnt it? whos gonna be brave enough to be first to upgrade and try iphonesimfreer sim?

I have not tried any of this yet but if the baseband is not updating then even if it does not work they should be able to go back to 1.1.1 jailbreak run oktoprep and update to 1.1.2 and it will be back to the way it is now.

But obviously i can not guarantee any of this

Im heading over to the states on saturday and am still not sure whether or not to get an iphone. Its been a few weeks now since bootloader 4.6 was brought out and as of yet no software unlock. Am i the only one that thinks it will never happen?

Ok just did the update

1.1.1 OTB 3.9 Bootloader unlocked with anysim and updated to 1.1.2

And it works the phone is still unlocked and everything is working

All 3rd party apps are gone and wifi password other than that everything is there as before

To be honest the software unlock is kind of irrelevant yeah it would be great if it comes but there is an option without it so if you are buying a phone bank on having to buy an Xsim if a software unlock is released great if not you still have a fully working iphone

Definitely not that would upgrade your baseband firmware

Obviously have not tested them but the baseband does not change so it "should" work

Also it "should" be possible to go back to where you are now if it does not work

UPDATE: Just upgraded to 1.1.3 from 1.1.2 OTB using ibrickr113, I can confirm that it is working and that I have my meteor sim card working with it using the sim from iphonesimfreer.com

Google maps update: the locate feature will not work as it needs the updated baseband which isnt included in jailbreak, but besides that it works perfect

i'm assuming then if maps "locate me" feature won't work, either will itunes movie rentals but since we won't have that for a long time; it doesn't bother me (nor will it if we ever get itunes movie rentals).

the main good things about 1.1.3 work tw0nk, like multiple contacts for SMS and customising springboard?

yup both those features work, also the installer is still available so people can re-download the 3rd party locator if they wanted, i havent tested this though....

Jaysus I haven't been on this thread since way back when I got my iphone and unlocked it. A little help please lads as ye are waaay ahead of me now. My iphone is unlocked but I'm still on the 1.0.2 firmware. How do I get to the latest 1.1.3 firmware or is that even possible for me without one of those fancy sim cards?

Well I still can't text... I've ordered a replacement sim as it might not be holding the message center number... Some older sims dont, i'll wait n see...

what an idiot.

got my stealthsim today and everything worked on 1.1.2 jailbroken phone.

seeing that a mac jailbreak was released i downloaded it and everything went well until the "go to installer app and install 1.1.3 soft upgrade" part which i did i let it install and the phone rebooted itself, it got stuck on the apple logo for about 20 minutes before i got fed up and now it's still stuck like that.

i've tried going into restore mode (home and the power button then let go of home when the screen goes blank) and it doesn't work.

anyone any ideas?
