First Gen iPhone Unlock / Sourcing (non subs) [Post these questions here ONLY !!!]

I've an 02 one, i'll try my metoer sim in my old phone n see what happens... From the sounds of it the message center number is wrong... The *5005* etc seems to be the only way to change it but that doesnt seem to work... looked through the menus and could find anything related to txt message services...

No, I know, but I can't find my AT&T sim that came with it, so I'm stuck, it wont let me go anyfurther without the sim in!!

Have you tried using the isms app on the installer see if you can send an text using that

What wont let you go any further

You are now back in 1.1.1 just jailbreak it then run OKTOPREP then update to 1.1.2 then jailbreak again run iworld and your done

When u slide for emergency and u hve to type *#307# and press call, then it wont let u continue - it says error performing request SIM not inserted.

Tried that, it says message sent but I'm not sure if its working... Tried txting myself but I never got anything

There are some hacker politics between the iPhone Dev Team and Nate involved, and the jailbreak is currently only for Windows users with previously-jailbroken 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 iPhones, but it's still sweet, sweet freedom. We're busy getting it up on one of our iPhones here at Engadget HQ, we'll let you know all the gory details when we're done.

I'll get excited when a software unlock for 1.1.2 happens (well before my xsim arrives)

I would but its not very clear whether the phone is unlocked afterwards

thinking about it

If Dan is correct those with stealthsims should be ok after the update

Mine is unlocked via iphonesimfree however, Reported Hypersim works.

NateTrue has recently leaked a v1.1.3 Jailbreak without the Dev-Team's permission, getting himself kicked off the team. Against our wishes, he's included both files belonging to Apple and patches which contain copyrighted information by Apple, making his personal release illegal and unethical. This is directly contrary to the spirit of true hacking and sharing of knowledge. I'd like to strongly advise against using his system for upgrading, and make it known that the rest of the dev team does not support software piracy or copyright infringement. The method the Dev Team was/is planning on releasing allows you to perform the jailbreak without violating federal law.

Not a happy bunch of campers (or did a single member agree to post it and not expose a group to grief from apple?)

DAM RIGHT. Dev Team Refused to release it so he was right to release it himself.They reckon if they dont released it there will be a jailbreak for the 1.1.3 when the sdk is released and we have access to the app,s in Feb on lunch day (some companys have the sdk since nov so there should be some programs available) and Apple know how they did the jailbreak so whats the point in saving it when apple are going to patch it in the next update anyway.

SHOULD, But if people update and doesnt remain unlocked its not my fault. Stephen was telling me iphonesimfree is very unique as apple have to update the (i cant remember what he said) but he reckons apple wont update for a long time.Thats why the ipsf unlock that stayed working.

And this is where my noob-ness shows. Am I right in thinking that this doesn't really help otb 1.1.2 in terms of a software unlock? They're totally different things?? I'm waiting for an xsim to arrive from hong kong and since I have a UK OTB (and even though the seller said it could be reprogrammed to match an o2 sim) and I was hoping to hedge my bets.... what do reckon that there is a sw unlock for 1.1.2 and now that Nate has leaked there's no point in keeping it back (or am I deluding myself?)?
