Anyone ever gotten a taxi in Holland? The taxis are all the same colour there (cream) and they are almost all Mercedes and are all immaculate....makes you feel like you are been chauffeured around.

In Ireland ye get ferried around in a 10 year old toyota or scoda octavia...so its like a no frills version of the Dutch service, but with the same price!

Yeah Yeah, change the record and get the government to remove VRT on taxis and then your comment would be worthwhile.

Just out of interest how far is it from Schipol to City centre about 20 Kms and fare is €45, Dublin Airport to city centre is 10kms or so and the fare averages out at €23 don't see much difference there!!

Also you should cruise around town saying to passengers that "one day a real rain is gonna come and wash the scum off the street"

    :D

We had a lad playing reggae, and he had it cranked up to 11. We couldn't hear each other and parts of the car were shaking.
We just went along with it and rolled down the windows.

Yes it is, i'm a Panel beater studying in D.I.T i'm going into my 4th year as a panel beater in June. I work in a Toyota Body shop approved by Toyota Ireland. The car will be better than new by the time i'm finished with it.

You going to give up four year's study and a job in a body shop to go and earn somewhere close to minimum wage for most of the week, until at least 1am Saturday morning.

Bet you've been listening to your buddies telling you about the untold riches waiting to be made out there!.

Your in for a rude wake up call.

No but they do have VAT

Now thats not to say that some of the taxis would be better off being fumigated rather than cleaned but I would warrant that the majority of those are

    a) Rented out to someone who hasn't a care in the world about cleaning the cab

    or

    b) Being used by some part-timer who doesn't have the time off from his full time job to clean the car and work the weekends

    or

    c) Being driven into the ground by a driver who is doing 4 or 5,12 hour shifts to cover payments to his seperated partner, offspring and bit of fluff who he sees once a fortnight

OP, I think you're mad going taxiing in a 1.6 petrol. You'll spend a fortune on fuel.

Get a 1.9 tdi or something when you've saved some cash. Means more money in your pocket at the end of the week.

2 words SAT NAV ! A must for any taxi driver! and good luck saturday!

    You are joking right?

Hate when a taxi man drives at 10 mph while waiting for a robot to tell him where to go.. ffs one lad didnt know where Bolton Stret was (neither did I exactly. But Im not a taxi man so its hardly the point)

I dont even know why anyone has sat nav tbh, taxi men or otherwise. Id rather trust a paper map.

Is that right that taxi-drivers don't get tips anymore? I gave a driver a tip in Dublin a couple of years ago (first time in God knows how many years since I was in a cab before then). Was told by a concerned relative that I shouldn't have handed it over and that the fare was all that I should have paid.
