Anyone else get really really annoyed when they see adults puffing away on cigarettes when they have kids in their cars with them?

Its one of my pet hates, and I think it should be illegal for this to happen. After all they are physically damaging their kids health. Grrrrrr

Do you think it is ok for adults to smoke in cars where there are kids? 109 votes

No, it affects their health and damages their lungs.

Any if the parents where kicking the kids?

Someone has to speak up for those kids, their parents obviously aren't responsible enough to worry about their lungs!

thats not really a fair comparison is it? legality and all.

I'm not a smoker or a huge fan of smokers being in my company, but until its illegal to do so theres nothing to stop em.

Which is why I said it should be illegal!

Nope doesn't bother me at all.For two reasons.

1.. Absolutely no point worrying about someone who smokes in a car with kids in it,they don't give a bollix,so why should I?

2.. With any luck they will be dead before lasting damage is done to the kids.

So I hold my worrying for something worth worrying about like the Packers chances against the Seahawks next Sat night and important stuff.

This makes me sick, I saw a guy driving along beside me last week with a baby in a babyseat in the front of the car and he was puffing away with no windows open.. I felt like getting out and dragging him out of his car and making suck on his exhaust pipe... But unfortunately as someone else above said, it's not really anyone elses business/place to say anything :o

Oh yes, the great old Irish complacency! Dont react to anything unless it affects you personally! How we have progressed!

What about smoking in the home? Why is smoking in a car so evil? Most people would surely keep the window open a crack causing most smoke to be sucked out, whereas in a living room or kitchen, its just left to hang around and be breathed in by the wee folk.

Anyway, it annoys me more to see unbelted kids in a car, or someone on their mobile while driving with kids in the car, or someone dangerously overtaking in a car with kids, or someone doing all three of the above at the same time.

There is nothing positive about smoking.

Anyone who smokes around kids in any environment are totally irresponsible and obviously don't have any consideration for their kids.

Having a window open in a car doesn't stop the carcinogens from circulating inside, so the kids themselves might as well be puffing away!

Ah I'll go one furthur and say that once you have kids you shouldn't be allowed smoke in their presence. It does annoy me when I see young kids around their parents and the parents are smoking away.
Its not fair on the kids.

I remember the days when I was a kid and I had no choice but to get Bus Eireann into the next town for school. The bus used to be clogged with smoke and it was grimey. If you weren't a smoker it was hell.

I do get a kick when i see people smoking in brand new cars...

like whats the point in going out and spending all that money for a shinny new car which comes complete with new car smell, and within a week of smoking in it having it smell like crap.

I don't smoke nor do I have children.
However my godson (who is 7) - his father smokes around him (despite his mother AND the child asking him not to) - He goes around with a wee smokers cough on him after being up with his daddy.
That I think it's ridulous - smoke if you like, by all means, that's your choice. The children can't choose.

so, doesn't give you the right to say people who smoke are filthy people.

My dad smokes. But he doesn't smoke round his kids (one room in the house he smokes in, his office) Doesn't smoke when the kids are int eh car. He'sa good dad and a good provider, the kids want for nothing. Yet just because he smokes you say he is a filthy person? How dare you comment on someone because of one facet of there make-up that effects only them. How dare you.

yeah, cause the only reason to buy a new car is to have the new car smell. People who enjoy a smoke should obviously not be allowed to enjoy a new car, regardless of anything else.

I'm sure they'll want for their dad once he's gone?

oh get over yourself. Everyone dies eventually and there is no gaurantee that he will die a premature death as a direct result of smoking. He could be hit by a car as easy as anything else. I know smokers who have lived to 80 and 90 years of age.

Of course his kids and family will miss him when he is gone, but it is no certainty that when he does go (hopefully a long long time from now) it will be because he smoked.

But by smoking is he not seriously increasing the risk of a premature death? Surely you cant deny that. The thing is that he and all other smokers know the risks and choose to continue with the habit ... regardless of the consequences or the feelings of those around them.

Im not saying your father is a bad person Tauren.

If someone ate krap as a habit id would happily say they are a filthy person.

Smoking=stupid. its a fact, there is no point in arguing against this! It serves no purpose and tends to kill people every now and then.. so all in all not a good thing.
I dont know why you wounldnt want your Dad to quit for his own sake?
