Anyone know any good applications for the E65?
Any decent sites to be checking out?

    I use www.handango.com

I have handy tools, skyecaller pro, gmail, safe, fring, google maps (awesome - works with the phone receivers) and XS2Paris

Well, just over 1 month since I got my E65 and now the
    phone/battery refuses to charge!

Tried 6 different chargers this evening but it wont take
a charge from any of them!

Gonna have to head back to CPW in the morning!

    Guys,
My is driving me mad. I have been to Nokia Center twice since getting the phone around dec. time.

Every now and again I get all the listed errors, which take time to go away. I ahve to remove battery, insert back and keep trying untill phone loads properly at times gets a while

    1- Insert Sim
2- Phone might not turn on
3- I turn phone on - it prompts me for Pin code and on entering pin code - I get 'General: system error
4- The worst is most of the time going through the menu and while on fring will display the Insert Sim error
5- Most times turning phone on will go straight to offline mode if though the sim is inserted

I can't really return to the shop as I bought it from online. I have update the firmware no joy and the nokia center did same.

This is the worst phone I have ever owned.

    TKS

I had the same thing - was a loose AC jack, seems to be a common fault. I took it to the repair place on South Anne St and they sorted it for me under warranty. Works like a dream now.

Sounds like you got a bum deal. It's not the Nokias - it's the individual handset that you have. Is it still under warranty? If it is then I'd take it back to the Nokia centre for repair and ask how many times it needs to go back before they'll fix it.

If you have a power supply you could fry the circuit board and then it'll be completely dead - if under warranty they'll then replace the innards. You need to be very careful doing that tho as you need to do it in such a way that it's not noticeable.

Had an E65, two replacements, driving me up the walls. Refused to call anyone from phonebook or recent calls lists. Arrrghhh.

Upgraded again under warranty to Nokia N95 8GB for 200 euro. First one was broken and got a second one. Its great, love it.

But Nokia, if you're reading this, build the damn things in Japan, and get Japanese software programmers, this latest round of build quality and software crashes is criminally sh*t. And users deserve better.

I've had mine for almost 6 months and i've yet to have a problem. The browser occasionally crashes and the gallery can be slow sometimes, but overall it's a great phone.

I got my e65 on Friday. Occasionally on Friday and Saturday the network signal would drop and I would get an error message 'sim registration' failed. I would have to remove and re-insert sim. I did request on Friday to upgrade to x-series silver. Could this be it?

It has nothing to do with the X- series or not. That is exactly one of the issues I have with the phone - 'Sim Registration failed' and if I touch any thing whilst the message is displayed it will then say ' Insert Sim card'. I think there some fault e65 phones around.

Mine came back 14 days later ... Software Upgrade fixed the fault!
Although I find it a lot slower now, even for opening messages.

    Fireware version is now 2.0633.65.01

This makes sense. Nokia's support website refers to this error occuring on earlier fireware versions..Cheer's Saint_Mel..

Guys, I have the new firmware but the error is still occuring - Sim Registration failed', ' insert sim card and Genral: system error.

    More problems with my E65!!!!

Its probably just a setting that got changed when my firmware was upgraded
but since then I have not been able to install any java .jar files.

I can install .sis files but when to install jars I get "Unable To Install" error.

Anyone else getting this, or know a way around it?

    Edit
Got a solution from the Nokia discussion board...
    - Back up data/settings etc via PC Suite
    - Reset the phone ... *#7370# Code 12345
    - Restore phone data/settings etc via PC Suite

    Worked fine after that!

a tip for anyone having problems with the predictive text on this phone. On mine, if i enter a word in predictive text it overrides the default word so is appears as ip and if and id etc so if you want to get it back to the default, open up a new message and press the pencil key. A menu will pop up with "predictive text" at the top. Press right->insert word and add the proper word you want to come up instead of the stupid word from that one time 4 months ago when you typed mx instead of my

What is it with Nokia these days? They used to be about clever design and simplicity. These days their phones (these symbian varieties) are total bricks and so complicated.
I have had the 6680, N73 and now the E65.
They keep moving the clear button.. Just as you have retrained your thumb to clear from the bottom right they move it back up to the top right. it's little things like this that totally p**s me off about Nokia.
And why did they have to clutter the phone with USELESS buttons?
I can access my contacts by pushing down thanks, and also, I have NEVER needed to mute a call and I don't have many conference calls with my mates. Do I look like I'm from Mean Girls? I know it's marketed as a business phone, but seriously, useless.
I like the faux leather on the back, that's about it.

    Hi there

E65 driving me bonkers. After 5 mins approx each call is automatically ended - am sure it's a simple settings issue but can't find it anywhere - anyone out there able to help?

    Thanks

there's no such thing as a "cut my call off" option. your phone is faulty. bring it back to where you bought it and send it off for repair

I had continuous issues with my E65. The customer service agent for 3 told me their were known issues with the E65 on the network. They replaced my original E65 for me but the next model was even worse. The 'sim card registration' error appeared almost all the time and I ended up getting the 3 to replace the phone with a N-73.

The N73 is excellent. No 'sim card registration' error and has more functionality than the E-65. On the downside, mail for exchange doesn't seem to work as well with it and I had to purchase a 3rd party softward package in order to get my work mail on my phone.

Some of the features I preferred to the E-65 were the camera (3.2mb), battery performance, and radio. It also has video calling (though I am not a fan of this). It doesn't have wi-fi but I had trouble getting this to work properly on the e-65 and found that it really drained the battery when used in conjunction with mail for exchange.

Overall they both have a similar (if not the same?) operating system and applications. Personally, I was looking for a phone where I could push microsoft exchange mail down onto. Both models do this. But given what the 3 customer agent has said about 'known issues' with the e-65 on the 3 network, I would be hesitant to recommend this phone to anyone unless either 3 rectify the issue, or the agent was simply incorrect and the phone generally works fine.

i've never had a second's trouble with the wifi on the e65 and found that it doesn't drain the battery noticably at all. using data on the mobile network kills it though.

the n73 generally doesn't have a battery to write home about itself

and you can do a video call on the e65 but it doesn't have a front camera. having said that, no one ever makes video calls

Guy's for anyone have 'sim card registration Failed or Insert Sim message, this error is caused by defect Sim Fliters and not your sim card in any way.

I got an E65 xmas period and have visited nokia center twice - first time they had to replace the LCD because phone refused to power on and then started this sim failed / insert sim error, which was driving me bannans. Evetually, they replaced the sim filter and ever since then never got the silly messages any more. However, am not really impressed with all these expensive nokia so called smart phones. Before now, I have used a standard 6820 four all most four years without even updating firmware and phone still as new.
