Anyone experiencing issues with their E65?
Got it on Meteor upgrade last week and a few issues.

Sometimes turns off when i close the slider.
when browsing using the built in browser and wifi it sometimes kicks me back to the main screen and i got to connect and start all over again,

    anyone have similar issues?

Got it on Meteor upgrade 2 weeks ago from CPW and have had no problems
apart from connecting to WiFi, but its more a configuration issue on my part
    I think.

Meteor shop itself would not sell it on upgrade!

A mate of mine also got one recently, not sure what network, and he has
been having problems with the phone randomly switching itself off

mine never turns off but the browser sometimes does crash. I think its because of the memory management on the phone. Sometimes when i open an application a message will pop up saying "memory full. Close some applications and try again" and then the application i tried to open will open but all the other ones i was using will be closed. Very annoying

the phone shouldn't be turning off. Bring it back and either get an exchange or send it off for repair

Actually that issue of some applications being shut down is characteristic with Symbian S60 not just the e65. I believe it is an issue they have addressed in the new N95 8GB though that's not much consolation to you.

Some applications, such as Fring, do allow you to mark the applcation as a system one which means it won't be targeted for shutdown when resources run low in the O.S.

My browser will sometimes crash back to the main screen. This also happened on my e50 and n95. I've put it down to Symbian also and have learnt to live with it.

As for turning off ... see CV comments.

There is a new version 2.? of the firmware out for the e65 now which might have fixed some of the memory issues. There is not an operator specific version out for three yet though so i would not be able to try it yet with out some hacking to fool the nokia software to run on my handset.

have you got a link to that software as i can't see it on the nokia site?

i think its more specifically the newer version of the symbian platform. I had a 6680 and an n70 and neither of them had the problem

It's not shown as actually being out unless you have the code for an unbranded handset I think but there is a post about the changes in the new version from "jacekza" about half way down this page. There is 30 odd pages to that thread though and I've not yet managed to find where in that they actually came up with the instructions for doing the upgrade.

    @ Op

I had the same issue recently, with two handsets from the same batch.

My GF also had the same issue (we bought the E65 on the same day)

Both had the fault you just described, have now recieved a new handset from a differnet batch and it is working fine for the last few months.

Definitely bring it back and get it exchanged!!!

They swapped mine out without any hassle.

That has to be one of the best complaints about a particular phone ever.

This is happening to me almost every time I try to browse the web. Has anybody ever found a solution?

I'm not using the built in browser much on mine (mostly Opera mini) and it works great.

One of my friends has one and it turns off, but my other 2 friends with it don't have any problems at all.

I guess there are always some faulty ones but it's one of the best phones I've had in a long time... and one of the only nokia phones on the market that doesn't feel really very cheap.

I got mine back from CPW today (get this - when I brought it back they said they'd replace it if it was under 28 days from purchase - it was 29 so they wouldn't - had to send it back for repair)
They upgraded the software and put a new microphone in - seems fine but I need to reinstall Opera and see if anything weird happens when I'm browsing.
This is the last Nokia I'll buy their quality has really nosedived in the past year or two.

EDIT: No issues so far - Happy Days!

Had loads of issues with mine, Switching itself off, contacts wouldn't open, sent it off for repair from the 3Store in Limerick and it's as good as new. The guy there told me it just needed a software update (don't know how true that was but is as good as new now!!):D

Do you know what firmware version you now have on your new handset now by any chance?

are you sure you pressed *#0000# and not *0000#? You shouldn't have to press send, it should pop up as soon as you press the last #

i have here 2 6230is, 2 6230s, an 1101, an n70 and an e65 and it works on all of them

Ya thanks I put in ony 3 o's.
The software version is 1.0633.18.02 - does this make sense??

They were lying about the software update them. There is a newer version than that out for the e65 but we need three to release their specific modded version of it.

Anyone know any good applications for the E65?
Any decent sites to be checking out?
As far as the browser problem goes, if you use opera mini it seems to resolve these issues!

I have mine about a month now and I have to say I like it.

Only problems so far have been the very occasional (and very tempory)
hang when using WiFi and then other functions slowing down a bit after
    using it.

I havent used OperaMini yet but heard this might resolve some issues

    My firmware is 1.0633.10.01

    www.getjar.com have some apps.
