Does anyone like me think that Guinness moving from St.James' gate is a national shame akin to Bertie getting back into office?

It is moving to the first place that the pints were brewed, Leixlip or somewhere.

Spiritual home is how it was described, I think.

I didn't know they were moving, I heard they were talking about it but decided not to. Shame anyway

First I've heard of it and there isn't much that gets past me in this town.

In fairness, they're taking the move pretty seriously. I completed an online survey, as I'm sure others did too, about whether my attitude towards Guinness would change if they moved.

Personally I don't care. It doesn't bother me where it's made. I'm sure it does bother some, but it's certainly not a 'national disgrace', and I wouldn't say 'shame on' Guinness.

Leixlip is a dump I hope they dont move out there

ps. where the hell did you people hear about this

    eh, no?

Personally Im more annoyed they are not allowing homes to be built on the site when they do move. Its a fcuking brewery ffs, not the GPO.

Cant we get some actual factual linkage here I heard there was a consideration a long time ago and heard nothing since also a lot of the buildings on the james gate site would be listed so its not like it can be knocked down

Who cares. I think it's embarrasing that tourists come to Dublin and the best thing we have to show them is a brewery.

They should build a nice new casino on the vacant land.

They have appointed consultants to look at the possibility of a move, with property prices so high in Dublin city they will likely find moving very attractive.

If they do decide to move they have identified two possible sites one in Leixlip and the other one out in Balbriggian, the balbriggian one is the front runner for various reasons such as a new port planed for the area.

Dublin City Council are trying to stop the move they are looking at a motion to rezone the land so no development can happen on it thus dramatically decreasing the value of the land.

Guinness will move to a state of the art facility in Balbriggan. St James Gate will be sold and the rats will be homeless. AFAIK the Hopstore will remain a tourist attraction.

There was something mentioned about this around August Sept in the news, but nothing was confirmed after.
Wait and see ... they may not even do anything

And they say Cork folk have an inflated sense of the importance of their county? Jesus. Fair play to Galwegians- despite it being by far the windiest rainyest most depressing miles from anywhere godforsaken kip* in Ireland I have never met a Galway person who doesnt love the homeland.

*: Galway city is quite nice in terms of appearance, and there are alot of good looking naturally tanned black haired women out there with a nearly Mediterranean type appearance, but if I had to put up with weather like that Id kill myself quite frankly. And dont get me started on the misery of small town Galway. I was quite honestly awe struck by the amount of immigrants in Galway, as I was baffled as to how any of them would deliberately move to what must be by far the wettest part of Ireland.

Oh, and what does shoop the woop mean? :D Galway girl I know has it on her bebo and all

What's this obsession with Guinness being Ireland's national drink? It only is because of suave marketing

It's all part of their plan to get Guinness huge in Africa.

Part A: Move it to a satellite town in Balbriggan.
    Part B: ?????
    Part C: Profit
