I wonder if that O'Hara lad for Spurs has any Irish ancestry. He looked a tidy player.

Oh sure, he has an Irish sounding name so he must be Irish :D

Nope, he's fully English and my stint as a manger in Football Manager 08 confirms this.

Think he might have had a pint of Guinness once.

The Premiership now....what are Giles and Cunningham smoking?
There is no way Hunts goal crossed the line!

    It was definitely over.

Definitely, without a doubt over the line, one hundred percent.

I love the paddy power segments before and after the ad breaks on that show. Very funny.

No way the whole ball was over, it actually looked bang on the goal line. The only angle RTE showed is misleading being that the camera is looking in about 12 yards out.
Sky will vindicate me with proper analysis of it...or maybe even the BBC later on?

It doesn't matter what kind of propaganda Sky or BBC come up with. The ball was over the line.

Having just seen the goal I'd have given it (assuming I wasn't 60 yards away facing the wrong direction). The angle was not perfect but looking at the keepers arm as he scooped the ball out I think all the ball was across the line.

According to MOTD last night, it wasn't over the line. They used their super specially accurate goal-line technology to show it. Problem is, the lads on Goals on Sunday used their own goal-line technoogy to show that the ball was over the line. One of them is wrong, so how do you prove it?

    They need goal line cameras.

TBH, Any of these decisions that have to be debated on tv and shown using computer generated gadgetry are dubious. How in the name of god can a linesman have been 100% sure that was over the line? He cant. Surely it shouldnt be given if theres any doubt.

If people with multiple camera angles and replays after the match can't be 100% sure then the linesman cant at the time(regardless of wht Des thinks:)I'm sure if it happen agianst Bordeaux there'd be hell to pay).

Eaxactly. A camera that can only see the width of the line mounted in each post puts an end to it once and for all.

no they don't need goal line cameras. this really annoys me, imagine how much time it would waste waiting on a TV judge trying to decide if yesterdays was fully over. what they need is a sensor in the ball and in the goal frame which sends a signal to the Refs armband like when the linesman put the flag up. so if it vibrates (or sends some sort of signal) it means it was over the line. simple. play doesnt slow down and we're all happy.

Teh have the ball sensor in Tennis do they not? and it's always getting quetioned.EDIT actually I think they have a different system that doesnt seem 100%.It also involves a ot of messign with footballs. Cameras are th esimplest way. Theres no questioning visual evidence. It would take 5 secs to press rewind and look again. If the camera can only see the width of the line theres no rechecking. 1 look, if the whole ball doesnt dissapear off camera into the goal, no goal.

I just dotn think a sensore system would be as 100% reliable as video evidence.

Purely because theres a lot less involved with a over the line football goal. In rugby they have much more to look at. ie feet in touch, there might be a pile of players etc. With goal line cameras they are really only looking to see if they can see the ball at all. If they cant then it'll be an obvious goal or it wont have go close enough to the line to even warrant debate.
