Two class goals, Keane hitting the bar then missing a penalty. Definite penalty as well

Hurray. Might be the kick up the arse Arsenal need.

    2-1 Arsenal. Bentner's first touch.

Unbelievable. I'd have put my house on Keano scoring the penalty. What a game to lose your form from the spot. And then the sucker punch. Fantastic game though.

If Spurs lose ...they have really thrown this away. Arsenal haven't played well at all.

Two things have surprised me today.

    1. The Arsenal performance-embarrassing for them imo. This is basically the second string Spurs team and we ran them close. I imagine that is pretty humiliating. I really dont think they will win the league if they play like that aginst our ressies.

    2. The Arsenal fans-Supposedly 55,000 of them in there today...can you hear them? no? didnt think so. Prawn sandwiches for everyone.

Not that humiliating to be honest, they won and they are top of the table...

    Care to expand on that?

Like I said that was the second string Spurs team and they only squeked pass. Cant see them mantaining the pace for the rest of the season.

that has me in stitches, it really has. :D

Arsenal won a game they shouldn't have won. two stunning goals basically out of nothing. if that doesn't smack of league winning potential then seriously, i don't think anything can then. embarrassed? it's Spurs who should be, threw away another game.

Jesus christ, Keane's two best skills are probably his vollying and his penalty taking, and he missed absolute sitters today. Unreal, I really can't get over it. Also shoulda been a second penalty too but thats unlikely to happen.
Arsenal really really rode their luck today, but you gotta do that sometimes. However, I'm hopeful that they won't get so lucky some other days :)
I tell ya what tough, Berbatov is an amazing player. I watched him today, and I know he's been off-form, but its clear to me that he's just so frustrated with the lack of talent around him. His hold up play is actually out of this world. Long balls he controls instantly with one touch and no defender will close him down cause he's too quick and will beat them. His goal was amazing. He all round play was fantastic. His frustration was evident, but he's reminded me today why I want United to sign him so much.

You dont expect to win a home game against a second string Spurs team?

    That says it all imo.

Would be unstoppable beside Rooney, absolutley lethal.

Regardless of what anyone expected. Spurs could have won that game....but they didnt and they only have themselves to blame. Its Spurs that should be embaressed.

Arsenal are 4 points clear at the top of the table and somehow, at the end of the season, I don't think they are going to be saying 'great season...pity about that embarrassing win over Spurs though eh?'

Berbatov is a second string player? Keane, Malbranque, Lennon, Robinson, Chimbonda?

Arsenal were woeful but Spurs still couldn't capitalise. Lucky escape, but I can't see such a poor performance happening again any time soon.

He didn't say what he expected. He said Arsenal shouldn't have won.

I presume English is not your first language?

Three points after a poor performance. what is embarrassing about that?

Of course i would have. and they did. but they shouldn't have based on the performances of the two teams. yet they did because Spurs are a shambles basically and because Arsenal came up with the goods when they had to, unlike Spurs.

You're adding a strange slant to this if i may say so....

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,804 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

well unlike spurs arsenal have been winning all season for me they were actually reasonably comfortable, and in any derby game you don't expect either team to run away with the game regardless of the considerable gulf in talent between the two sides.

Haha you can always count on some spurs fans to put their own little spin on things. 'We managed to throw away a game in which you played woefully, you guys really should be embarrassed with coming back and taking 3 points' Nice logic there

I know he didnt say that. I never stated he did?

Fair enough you lads are happy with that performance thats fine. I just expected that going to a team at the top of the league with ambitions of winning it with a second string team we would have been given a football lesson. We were'nt, I am surprised thats all I am saying.

If you lads are confident you will be top come May fair enough, thats all that matters. We'll wait and see.

Im not putting any spin on things. We lost 2-1, thats a fact.

Im just giving my opinion of the Arsenal performance.

you mightn't have said it explicitly but you fairly damn implied it though.

The arsenal performance was poor, this will happen sometimes
Many pundits and managers have said that a sign of a good team is to not play well and win. What happened today ??

Arsenal were always criticised for not being able to win ugly
Well I give you winning ugly and it still feels great.

On a lighter note ha ha ha top four tottenham suck !!!!!
