No it isn't. 1.1.1 is the last "hackable" firmware with 1.1.2 being the one that is currently on the UK O2 phones and cannot still be SIM unlocked. The order of updates was:

    1.0.2
    1.1.1
    1.1.2

I bought a 1.0.2 awhile back from unlockthatiphone.com and safely upgraded it to 1.1.1 following the guides on their site, but yes, as always with these things, you could mess the phone up, so unless you really want some feature from the new firmware, why even upgrade?

1.1.2 has almost no features over 1.1.1, so even if it was fully unlocked, I would probably not bother with it. 1.1.1 had a few "big" features over 1.0.2 which I wanted, like TV out functionality, the iTunes WiFi store and some other fixes, like a period (.) shortcut for the keyboard (double tap space). There are probably some other differences that I can't remember any longer too, but unless you're interested in any of these, there's no point in messing with a fully working 1.0.2 phone.

Another point to consider is if you were to update from 1.0.2 now, iTunes would try to go straight to 1.1.2, so you would have to manually find 1.1.1 and use that one instead (you can select the update from your PC if you hold down SHIFT when you click update within iTunes) - so things are a bit more complicated now to go from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 than they were a month ago when I upgraded.

Just wanted to clarify though, 1.1.2 is the firmware to avoid at this point, not 1.1.1 (which quite a few people here are happily using).

BTW, the rumors for an imminent 1.1.3 are going around:

    http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/rumor/iphone-113-update-coming-by-saturday-with-disk-mode-voice-recording-330709.php

The Dev team have claimed so far that a new firmware would be required to make SIM unlocking 1.1.2 possible, so the unlock for those UK iPhones could be very close - still, it's only a rumor at this point...

    No

You can upgrade to 1.12 no problem there are plenty of tutorials on how to do it.
The only problem with 1.12 is for those people with the 4.6 bootloader if you have a phone that had the 1.00 1.01 1.02 or 1.11 firmware when you bought it then you can upgrade to 1.12 and sim unlock.

The only advantages are that it adds support for french , german etc if you want that.

The only other advantage of keeping the phone up to date firmware wise is that new apps tend to be developed for the latest firmware so if you stay on an old firmware you may not be able to run some of the third party apps.

It says it is firmware version 04.02.13_G

Is that not 1.1.1? Is there an unlock method for 1.1.1 yet?

no thats a 1.1.2 , if you bought it recently you cant unlock it yet, if you upgraded from an earlier firmware you can but i think you have to virginise it first, i know coz im in the same boat

Does anyone know of any app that allows you to rotate the keyboard lengthways for typing?

I'd make a lot of sense, you'd almost be able to chance using it like a normal keyboard then using both hands and not just two thumbs. Surely theres something out there?

No the only app with landscape keyboard is the safari browser itself.

if you are on 1.12 the 1.11 will not work

you need to downgrade to 1.11
Then jailbreak and activate like you are attempting to
    Then run OKtoprep
Then upgrade to 1.12 then run jailbreak again on the pc this time

    Try www.hacktheiphone.com for a tutorial

you will not be able to sim unlock the phone yet

but you can use the wifi ipod camera youtube maps etc while you await the unlock

After searching www.tescomobile.ie for the settings, to no avail, I sent this email to customercare@tescomobile.ie on Monday of this week:

    "Hello,

I am considering moving to Tesco Mobile. I will be using an Apple I-phone, and so I need to be able to use the full internet, over GPRS.

Looking at the Tesco Mobile website, I can see the WAP GPRS settings, but not the Internet GPRS settings. What are these, please?"

Today is Friday, still no response. I read on some forum somewhere (sorry to be vague), that Tescomobile in Ireland are not providing GPRS ISP access, because O2 will not allow them to. Now, whether this is true or not I really don't know. But why haven't they replied to email?

Just a heads up guys and not wishing it on anyone, but my iPhone which I got in early October from Stephen in Unlockthatiphone, developed a "dead strip" at the bottom of the screen right along where the 4 apps button's are for phone, safari ipod etc. the phone is now pretty much useless!

Its a widely documented flaw (google "iPhone dead strip") which Apple have no problem replacing effected iPhone's with new iPhone's when it occurs.

Unfortunately after getting in touch with Apple UK regarding a paid repair (outside of warranty, as the phone is modified) Apple tell me they are refusing to repair or service even for a fee any modified phones.

I used anysim, on a 1.02 upgraded to 1.11 does anyone know if you can in fact turn the phone back to its original state with no detection of any modifications?

Now Stephen assured me that in the event of any faults he would exchange the phone for another, however he's as you all know uncontactable.

There you are guys, my heads up to you.

I was under the impression that unlockthatiphone send it off to apple to repair them and not actually replace them. I will try to contact him myself usually dont have a problem.Did you actually them them your iphone was modded? If so why all you had to do is virginise it.

    I unlocked another persons 1.1.1 iphone yesterday. It was a week 41 iphone and it appears to have the "negative black" screen issue that afflicted early ipod touches and ,at the same time, certain iphones. It's well documented on the web and you can even test you own with safari at the following site;
    http://appleservedup.com/
    Overall, the screen just appears darker than mine, even at highest brightness settings, and if the screen is displaying certain black/dark colours it gives a weird "negative" effect. I took a few pics. The iphone with "RC28" up in the top left corner instead of vodafone is mine. The o2 iphone is the one with the bad screen;

:)does anybody out there know can i use any of the features on the iphone even if its locked..i tried to get it unlocked but its the new software version so it cant be unlocked yet so i have it and cant use it please help thanks:):):):):):):)

Yes you can use all the features except the phone
    you have to jailbreak it

www.hacktheiphone.com has a tutorial that is easy to follow

Basically you have to downgrade the firmware jailbreak it
    run Oktoprep
Then upgrade back to 1.12 then jailbreak it again

Then you can use the ipod the wifi youtube google maps the camera etc etc.

If you want to use the phone you can wait for the software unlock or get a turbosim or the cheaper stealthsim www.iphonesimfreer.com
