The small dressed up variety of trick or treaters are always welcome...it's the old, skanky ones with no costume & their hands out that I could happily do without.

I buckled under the pressure and ran to the shops to buy some sweets for the ickle kiddies. When i was picking out some chocolate about 4 kids ran into the store shouting "trick or treat". The cashier laughed her ass off and gave them all a bar each, nice lady.

I am now eating the chocolate.

They're welcome , however I have been putting random things into their bags as I ran out of sweets

Ah crap, had planned to ignore any knocks on the door but I just ordered a pizza so I'll have to open it at some stage. Damn my hungry tummy. I have nothing to give the kids.

No they're not welcome. The more kids that come the less sweets that will be left over at the end of the night for me to gorge on. :(

Crazy how many are calling to my door. Ran out of anything worthwhile long ago. All is left is a heap of monkey nuts for the late ones. So will probably get egged later on.

I used to give out fruit and sweets but gave it up when I noticed that the same kids were coming back a few times a night looking for seconds.

    Now, I'm just not in.

The fireworks and bangers are starting to go off now. It's scaring the crap out of my dog. The poor mutt is running around looking for a place to hide.

Hate Halloween, always did, even as kid. Usually go to the pub or ignore the doorbell when it rings. In my parents' at the moment so somebody else can deal with them, although I think only one has called so far.

None have called here...........yet!!! Am expecting at least a few later though! Have about 20 bags made up ready anyways! :D

My ickle one is all dressed as a witch and I was dressed as, erm, an evil fairy up until about 20 mins ago, the wig was making me itch and the dress was soooo huge the dog kept tripping on it

Oh I put my little ones last-year fairy outfit on the dog (for about two mins - she's a king charles) She was really uncomfortale so I took a pic and took it off again straight away

    Had 2 groups so far.

2 quiet girls dressed as witches and 7 teenage girls in there PJs. :D

Ah, it's all a bit of craic, handing out the penguins first, hoping to hold onto the milky way and pom-poms.

2 groups is a little shallow though, maybe there will be more?

Were some cracking fires out by the coldcut road at Liffey Valley earlier and they hadn't even set alight to the big'un. Gonna be some mighty smoke damage around there (although what's new :p).

I live in an apartment and haven't heard a peep all night. That's the adantage of apartment living! I haven't heard much fireworks either. I've been off work sick today so I haven't been outside. It doesn't feel much like Halloween to me. When I lived at home I dressed up and handed nice sweeties out. I knew some of the kids around and the scumbag ratio was low! When I live in a house again I'll answer the door. For tonight I'm sick so I'm glad to be left alone!

weirdly we've had very few kids around tonight. but the general quietness of the area of late is obviously because they were stock pilling their fireworks as they're out in force.

I decided to take refuge around my sisters place, I dunno how busy its been here (just got back) but its dead now. Round her place it was quiet with just 4 visitors. Her daughter will no doubt be among them next year.

Sadly French kids don't do this. The tinies do dress up and go around the shops in the afternoon and the shop-keepers give them loads of sweeties.

I just answered the door to the coal man with a bowl of sweets in my hand!

Only two groups called here so far, it's dead quiet.

He's a little old for trick or treating. Did he even have a costume?

It used to be all kids coming around with their parents and in groups and i'd only be too happy to open the door, compliment their costumes, guess who they were and give out sweets.

    ...not any more.

    ...not ANY more.

Thats how it happens with us. Although I'm working tonight so missing all the fun.

I love to see the kids out knocking on doors & having the craic. Then listen to the tails of who are the greedy bastards on the road who wouldn't open the door.

haha, we didn't get any either...I think its coz our house is close to the end of the block and ALL my other neighbours are old and don't bother opening their doors to anyone so the kids get sick of being ignored and never get down as far as our house!!

Ah well, more sweeties for me...as if I needed an excuse!!

I had two groups of kids at my place tonight. I was looking forward to a busy night but the funniest thing was that with one of the groups one parent was even holding her handbag out looking for treats for herself. She was about 6'2"with a deep voice, i fell about the place laughing when they left. I bought loads of goodies for them and all!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 970 ✭✭✭lemansky

Apparently none called by here....so all the sweets were waiting for me when I staggered home!

Some kids rang the bell earlier but I didn't get up to open the door.
    Mohahaha!

The kids here were too busy egging people and setting off stupid fireworks and playing with their new trolley so no one called. Good thing too because I have no food!! Not even proper food!!

Had a good few groups around here from about 6 to 7PM. Most had parents standing around on the road, no going on your own these days. Lots of sweets left though, might bring some into work tomorrow to get rid of. If I eat any more tonight my teeth will fall out, more so.

Boo, ya big meanie. Did they egg your house? Friend of mine went to the shop this afternoon to get some eggs, for his tea, none left. Normally there'd be loads, but not today.
